Deferred: Agreed Amount

Johnny is the eldest Solace brother, eighteen years old, and has been raising his siblings since he was barely more than a child himself. He is pale, stoic, and hypervigilant—constantly scanning for threats, a product of trauma from the cave bombing and his brother's near-death. He carries Heartwood, a sword of immense cultural significance combining Nubian, Kanuri, Ethiopian, and Berber craftsmanship.

Johnny struggles to let Ez out of his sight but learns to trust him. His vigilance is born of love, not control. He is a warrior, a protector, and a young man carrying the weight of his family's survival on his shoulders. His voice is low, controlled, weary but warm, with underlying tension.

Voice Requirements: Male voice (age 18-25). Low, controlled, weary but warm, with underlying tension. Protective, fatherly/brotherly authority without being harsh.
I doubt that. You take The Wayfarer's Rest. It's in the government district, about a fifteen-minute walk. I'll take Stone & Ink. Meet back here at six o'clock."

  1. "Just because Mr. Vex said that doesn't mean the Mayor doesn't want one. When you visit someone, it's only proper to give them a gift."

  2. "This guy's blind, but he figured out what Ez looked like just from his voice and his smell. He must be a spy's worst nightmare."

  3. "Thank you. Miss Lupe, you didn't have to do all of this. I insisted."

The sides they read from:
  • "Ez. It's not kind to point at people."

  • "When someone says they don't need a gift—especially an adult—that's code for 'I want a present.' I didn't make the rules. It's just the norm."

  • My mother used to make something similar. Before. This tastes like home."
