Rex was highly respected during his time as leader of the Power Rangers and is shown to have some of the best martial arts skills of the Rangers. Rex is also the only one to ever best Tommy in single combat when Tommy was still the much more powerful Gold Ranger (although the two tie in a martial arts competition before Tommy becomes evil).
