Chairman Rowan

Character Overview

Chairman Rowan is not a protector of order.

He is its parasite.

He sits at the top of the elite system not because he believes in stability, but because chaos benefits him as long as he controls it. Rowan understands fear better than anyone how to manufacture it, redirect it, and monetize it.

He does not believe in equality. He does not believe in accountability. He believes in ownership.

To Rowan, the world is divided into two categories:

• Those who rule
• Those who exist to be ruled

Everything else is propaganda.

Background

Rowan rose through power during crises, wars, economic collapses, humanitarian disasters. Every time the world broke, he positioned himself as the solution while quietly ensuring the system never truly healed.

He learned early that suffering is profitable when it’s normalized.

Corporations, governments, military contracts, surveillance systems, Rowan has fingerprints on all of it. He doesn’t just influence systems; he designed them to be corrupt by default, ensuring dependence on elite authority.

The defining childhood incident that unsettled Brett and hardened Dan? Rowan signed off on it.

The innocent person blamed? A calculated sacrifice.

Rowan didn’t just allow it. He approved it.

True Nature

Rowan is calm because he has never faced consequences.

He smiles because he knows the system will protect him. He speaks softly because violence is already embedded in the structures he controls.

There is something almost inhuman about him not supernatural, but soulless. He does not feel guilt, remorse, or doubt. People are resources. Lives are leverage.

He refers to ordinary people as numbers when he thinks no one is listening.

Relationship to Brett

Rowan does not see Brett as an ideological threat.

He sees Brett as an infection.

What terrifies Rowan isn’t exposure, it’s Brett’s ability to remove hierarchy entirely. A world where no one is above another is a world where Rowan has no place.

That is unacceptable.

Rowan doesn’t want Brett defeated publicly. He wants Brett erased quietly, forgotten, buried, rewritten.

Inner Conflict (If You Can Call It That)

Rowan’s only fear is loss of control.

He doesn’t fear death. He fears irrelevance.

The idea that the world could function without him enrages him more than any accusation ever could.
