Grapple is a character from Transformers Generation One. He is the Ted Mosby of the original autobots, serving as the team architect. One of his famous designs was the Power Tower, which similar to the Harvester in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, absorbed power from the Sun. His original pitch for the power tower was rejected by Optimus Prime, who deemed it too powerful. Despite the warning, Grapple eventually teamed up with the constructicons to build it anyway.

Reimagined for Generation 3, his disobedience will stem from a disgruntled, and disturbed personality, which ultimately causes him to join the Stunticons and reject the Autobot way entirely.

Toxitron rises from the ashes of the discarded identity of Grapple. Not beholden by the way of the Autobots, Toxitron represents a mirror of Optimus Prime's worst nature. His goal is to bring peace to the universe through coerced conformity and slave labor. "If you're not with us, then you're free to die," is essentially his belief system. It isn't helped by the fact that his new friend Wildrider has convinced him that somehow all of this is righteous and holy, whilst pulling his strings as Grapple turned into a cold-blooded murderer and tyrant. If Optimus Prime truly believes in fighting for peace, Toxitron will double down and show him what it really means to go to war as an alternative to pacifism.
