Ironhide is the old warhorse — a hardeed, gravel-voiced Autobot whose fists have broken more 'con jaws than can be counted.
He's classic Ironhide! But in G3, he's more rough around the edges. This take on the character sees him playing the role of devil's advocate to the ways of the Autobot peace keepers. He openly calls out Optimus Prime for lacking the spine to lean into his more aggressive side.
In the year 2086, he's a changed individual. He's more of a mentor figure whose seen the last regime fall, and fears more than anything for it to happen again.

(As future Ironhide) Who is Optimus Prime? Over the centuries, the name has become something of a myth--a beacon of unbreakable morality in the grim shadows of war and conflict. Truth is, he wasn't some pacifist blessed with unlimited wisdom. Honestly, I hate that tall tale. It takes away from the Prime I knew. I think a true test of character is how they face the ugly truth... how they make the tough calls. 'Cause in a time of war, are good leaders defined by their ideals, or by the difficult decisions they make?
(As past Ironhide) This is your fault! You and your pretentious pipe dream of a peaceful end to the war! You need to order a strike on them — on the Stunticons!
