You know how G1 Rodimus Prime is always living in the shadows of Optimus Prime and trying to fill his shoes? F**k that!
This take on the character sets him decades after the time of Optimus Prime. He's an established leader of an Autobot colony on Nebulos. The Autobots were kicked off world ages ago, and he's just trying to make things work with his people divided and on the brink of an Autobot civil war. When we see him in action, he's sharp, decisive, and reliable.
Now put this amazing war-time commander into peacetimes, and the biggest threat is now his people turning on each other. Suddenly, mister perfect soldier's black and white problems are all gray. And worse yet, when a religious cult lead by Galvatron attack his colonies he faces his ultimate challenge.
After a stunning turn of events, Rodimus learns that maybe his duties are more than keeping the peace. Ol' Rodimus Prime may well be the one whose got to bring everyone back to Cybertron as well.
Excuse the lack of G3 design for the icon. He's still being designed.
