As a teenager James Gardner was struck by mysterious lightning that gave him the power to empower his body at will, giving such abilities as super strength, flight and x-ray vision. Ten years later he fights for justice as Ultra while also serving justice on lesser scale in his civil profession as private investigator. His dutiful attitude towards protecting the innocent and everyman vibe make it easy for people to trust Ultra’s dedication to heroism.
[Ultra is being chased by Ataxim in a void filled dimension, narrating.] “This is crazy! We’re both stuck in this strange dimension. We should be working together to get back home. But all he knows is his hunger…”
[The heroes are planning to infiltrate in place that is under enemy control.] “Be careful. That place isn’t going to be easy to break into. They’ve got giant robots!”
[Ultra has his invisible making energy form on and Green Avenger is wondering where he is.] “I’m in energy form. We’re spying. Not exactly something I do in my normal line of work. [The Green Avenger asks if Ultra is a cop.] I was. A few years ago.”
