Zoe In Space is a comic series about a musician who is accidentally abducted by Aliens and must travel through the various planets to try and find her way home, only to find that her strange music taste is appreciated more in space than it is on Earth. This project is a comic dub of the first issue!
This comic is the first comic created of the series, a quick 16 page comic that adapts the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, a Chinese fable about the Milky Way. Because of this origin to the story, there are a lot of Chinese references in the story, which I hope to give credit and appreciation to as a non-asian writer.
The comic is short, but considering Zoe's role as a musician, there is a short song I'd like to record to go along with the comic dub. All the musical backing with be recorded by myself, and I hope to work with a voice actor/singer who can provide the vocals to my guitar. Whoever ends up playing Zoe will have an interesting project for sure!
Ideally, this won't be the only comic dub with these characters, so if you're cast, you may be hearing from me again with other issues to dub, and perhaps even different roles for other projects I'm working on!

Wow, this has been up a day and I've already gotten so many great voice actors interested! Thank you all for auditioning and expressing your interest in the project, I'm so excited and burdened by the awesome responsibility of choosing between the many variations of JJ.
I did, however, make a mistake while making the roles. It was brought to my attention that the roles were not allowing people to just upload recordings, which is unfortunate and difficult! Thank you for those who sent me their auditions anyway, but I've now fixed the issue but creating new roles that are set as "Voice actors" not "Actors".
As to not erase those who have already auditioned, I've closed those auditions. I know it's confusing, but future auditioners should audition for the open versions of those characters.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for following along with this project!
Zoe is a wanna be musician who is accidentally abducted by aliens. She's Chinese American, so I'm looking for an Asian American actor and singer. Zoe is a bit of a sardonic character but with the passion of an artist. She's sassy and tends to blame others for her failings, but she's got a lot of room for growth. Think Eleanor from The Good Place! As far as her singing, I imagine she imagines she's the next Mitski, except Chinese.
(Irritated) Look, I'm not from around here, but where I'm from, we don't eat people. We don't cook them. So please stop suggesting that.
(Passionate) That's it! I'll write a song heartfelt love song and inspire everyone! And maybe get some royalties too but we'll work that out later...
(Singing) Their love could be...heavenly...hear these star's plea...and let them free...
JJ is an altruistic alien rabbit with strange moral execution. You'll find out what that means later.
He's actually immortal and is inspired by the Chinese fable of the rabbit on the moon who offered to let a hunter eat him for immortality, which presents a strange alien rabbit who's immortal and is just really chill about cannibalism.
His role in the story is Zoe's moral compass. He's always trying to get her to do the right thing, even when his definition of the right thing is either chaotic or not quite helpful. Honestly, I don't have a real voice in mind for how JJ talks. He's a strange alien Rabbit, so take a look at the guy and follow your heart! His is an eternal optimist, so almost all his lines should be blazing with positivity.
If worse comes to worse, I give you permission to eat me.
Look! Giant rocks hurtling towards us, neat!
Mondo! Don't die! But if you do, I promise we'll cook you and eat you so your death isn't meaningless!
A cow alien known as the Bovaeye, Niu is a heartbroken cattle herder who is separated from his love by a dangerous river. For the majority of the story, he's a sappy romantic that's weeping over his lost love and begging for help. This is a role doesn't have a lot of lines, hence the smaller pay.
Ain't nobody gettin across that river...nobody no how...
I'll pay your passage across the river if you deliver something for me!
Please! Take this to my love, Zhui, across the water!
Zhui is an alien known as the Chan-E, which descend from frog royalty. She's inspired by a celestial being in a Chinese Fairytale, and thus should have an elegant way of speaking. She's sweet and feminine, with a girlish charm. Considering the origin of her character is inspired by a Chinese character, and her name's Zhui, I'd prefer her to be voiced by an Asian actor.
You see...my story begins at the river...I am the seventh daughter of the village leader, and my father expected me to weave baskets, but it was mad boring...
Alas, as I began my love affair, my father found out and banished my love across the river...
Now I am separated from my love, fearing he shall never know his unborn child...
This is two parts wrapped in one, each aliens with deeper voices, one gruff with a western accent and the other more regal and fancy.
Mondo is a bull looking alien that drives a boat, only has a few lines but I imagine his voice a bit like Scruffy from Futurama.
The Village Leader is Zhui's fancy shmancy father, he should have a deep voice but sound more elegant and refined.
(Mondo) Costs fifteen kwegloons to cross the river. Should be safe so long as we don't run into into deadly rocks.
(Mondo) My final wish...is for the two villages...to be reunited...
(Village Leader) A musician! This pleases me, play Wagon Wheel!
To those who auditioned in this role, your audition is still being considered but future auditions for this character should be done on the open role above.
