Zephyr's Avalis Adventure Dub
Project Overview
Zephyr's Avalis Adventure is a pokemon fanfiction about Zephyr, a Unovan that chooses to vacation in the rare region of Avalis.
In the end, he meets many strange people, most of which are helpful, and he takes down two evil organizations.
FIRST THING TO NOTE: This is a pokemon fan project, so I recommend that anyone auditioning have some awareness of pokemon.
Don't feel that you need to be the age of the character you're auditioning for. It's just there to provide inspiration. (For instance, I don't actually want to have a 15 year old on this project. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but not preferable.)
(Please note that the payment is actually $1 an episode. Except for the audio mixer and video editor which is $3 an episode. But, if this project succeeds and starts to make money, that will be dispersed to the parts in each episode.)
Also, feel free to audition for as many roles as you want, but not every role may necessarily go to an auditioner.
Link to the writing this project is dubbing: https://archiveofourown.org/works/89491616?view_full_work=true
(Note for location pronunciations: Ay-vuh-liss and Add-uhl-mire)
Finally, I changed some things about how the auditions and project are going to work (I'm just removing the need for voice actors to read the dialogue tags, so if someone's audition has that, it's just a leftover from before the edit.)
She's a hiker and member of Avalis' elite four. Friend of another elite four member, Arthur.
She's pretty cheerful and easygoing. One of the most recurring characters.

Well, you’re definitely not going to get there today. I’m Aria, by the way. I live on Victory Mountain.
Yup! But Arthur told me that you found a place down here and I wanted to see you again.
Ah, that’s too bad. I’ll get ya next time.
He's a member of the Avalis elite four and an often recurring character. He's friends with another elite four member, Aria.
He's pretty jovial, but can be serious when the time calls for it. He's done something terrible, but that isn't revealed until much later in the story compared to what I've written. I imagine he would sound similar to Damon Gant from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. (Pronunciation in line 3 is is-nuh.)

Oh, does it really matter? You’ll have time to figure that out later, because I see champion potential in you, Zephyr.
Your Tyrogue must think he knows best. And maybe he does…
Fire types are very rare in Adelmire, but I managed to find a colony of Slugma. Isna has been a great teammate. Now, Rock Throw!
Asher is one of Zephyr's four rivals. He's similar to Kieran in the sense that over the course of the story he is slowly broken down. You are going to need to be able to shout in much later chapters, so be able to do that.

Huh? OH MY ARCEUS, IS THAT A DRAGALGE?
Psshh, you can do better than just a Ralts! Tell you what, I saw evidence of an incredible find to the south of here. Parts of the water there were frozen over, but what’s so fascinating about it is that there’s no ice types here! If you can find and catch whatever it is, you’ll be a really impressive trainer.
If you want to help, then you must choose your first partner. There's the bug type, Wurmple. The grass type, Seedot. And finally, the rock type, Nacli.
Atlas is one of Zephyr's four rivals. He takes after the modern friendly rivals, such as Hau, Hop, and Trace.
He's always friendly and is pretty much a doormat. But later in the story it will be revealed that he almost went down a very different path that has to do with his connection to Athena. (Pronunciation on line 1 is Pay-tuh, and "Yeah, Athena..." should be delivered contemplating.)

Smart strategy, lowering Patah’s defense so your attacks do more damage! Anyways, it’s our turn to bring the pain. Tackle!
Yeah, Athena… just don’t be too harsh with her about it, okay? I’d like for you two to still be friends.
Well, you can put it behind you now, Adeline. End the deal, tell the truth, and they’ll forgive you.
Apollo is one of Zephyr's four rivals. He takes after the jerk rivals of early pokemon games, like Blue and Silver. He's got a full-on god complex, comes with the name Apollo. (Although greek gods don't exist in Pokemon so it's just a coincidence.)
Much later in the story it's revealed that he's the son of Amelia, who's a bubbly woman with an american southern accent, so if you want to, you can include a slight accent, but it's something that he would be trying to hide. I don't mind it not being present in any aspect though.

Yeah, I’m sure you’re desperate to go back to bathtime, *cough* loser, but you’ve gotten the attention of a god now, so you better pay attention!
Yeah, but mine is just the stinkin’ fourth gym. Your endorsement is from an Elite 4 member, so I have to defeat you and revoke her endorsement.
You haven’t seen the last of me, Zephyr! When you look up at the stars, you better think of gods. And when you think of gods, think of Apollo!
Athena is one of Zephyr's four rivals. She's not really like any existing Pokemon rivals, serving as the opposite of Asher's arc. Asher goes from shy and mild-mannered to broken down, while Athena starts as a member of the evil Team Ambrosia and ends her arc leading a more peaceful life. By the way, Team Ambrosia has Team Rocket vibes, thieves.
Also, later in the story it's revealed that she has some history with Atlas, the friendliest rival. (The end of the second line is referring to Atlas)

It’s not an official organization, and there’s no evidence of wrongdoing. Even if there was, what would you do about it, shrimp?
Thanks. This League Challenger thing has been a big chance for me. I gotta stick it to him anyhow.
I just wanted to say thanks for getting me out of that pit. I just couldn't accept that I was just hurting everyone else by turning to Team Ambrosia.
Adeline is the most important person in her village, Adelmire Grove. She protects the food source, the community orchard, and she takes that job very seriously. At the end of chapter 8 and the Adelmire Grove arc, it's revealed that she's actually been working for the evil Team Ambrosia and letting them have a cut of the fruits that are supposed to go to the people.
Adeline isn't evil though, she's just hurt and wants everything she can get, even if it means that her people get less.

For one, you wait until they’re ready to harvest, nimrod. For two, it’s a weekly celebration to pick the community orchard, which you should know, Arthur!
Right, sorry! I just got so caught up in the battle. I had to imagine you as a thief to go all out against your team.
It’s not worth it now. It would have been if I won. I just felt underappreciated.
Anthony is a member of the Afternoon Society, a deeply evil cult, though it's goals haven't been revealed in the story yet.
Anthony is the youngest leader of the Afternoon Society, being just a teenager, so he's inexperienced and embarrasses himself. A voice I'd recommend working off of is Needleman from Monsters Inc. but please try to be original.

He was just following orders, and you ruined his reputation! So now I have to defeat you.
Th-This is ridiculous, the manual says your pokemon has to attack itself at least once!
Ohhh dear.
He's a gym leader in Avalis and a gardener in his free time. He constantly wears overalls that are smudged with dirt, but he's always ready to offer peace and a warm smile. I imagine Asgore to have a deep voice, so not that, but something similar?

Howdy, Zephyr! How are ya?
Yup, I’m a gym leader. But I’m just looking for a friendly battle today. Right, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Abraham.
Hey, there’s always next time.
Afiya is a member of The Afternoon Society, a cult whose motivations haven't been fully revealed yet, but they're evil. And Afiya is the leader of one of their towns.
Afiya tries to maintain a steely, scary composure to intimidate enemies, but it can fall apart, and when her composure falls, she can act pretty immature. (DON'T SAY THE PARENTHESES IN THE LINE OUT LOUD THOSE ARE JUST FOR DIRECTION. I MADE THIS ALL CAPS TO DRAW ATTENTION TO IT.)

You’re not getting out of this. If you try to, then I’ll just break in, then you’ll have to pay for the rental that Alexander graciously donated to you. (composure up)
I’d advise you not to bring it up if you value your life. (composure up)
No, no, no! The sun was supposed to be on MY side! (composure down)
Ashley is a member of The Afternoon Society, a cult whose motivations aren't currently revealed, but they're certainly evil. Ashley is one of the most powerful members, but she is easily aggravated by idiocy (which Zephyr is full of.)
Ashley takes her job very serious.

Zephyr, you hurt our operations, and you will pay for it!
Ashley. My name is Ashley. You’d do well to remember the name of who’s going to defeat you, as I’ve remembered yours.
Do you see the monster? Do you see it? Hit that! Hit it now!
Andrea is a know-it-all genius, but rightfully so. She believes herself to be the smartest person in all of Avalis (spoiler alert, she is.)
Andrea is always three steps ahead, no matter the situation. Even losses are just strategic ploys to her. (Pronunciation: An-thair-uh [An is pronounced like in the word ant])

I am Andrea of Anthera Place, smartest person in all of Avalis, currently home intruder from your perspective. But I don’t care about your perspective, Zephyr.
Those are two different questions. What I’m doing right now is I’m investigating your current residence, but I’m not here to do that, what I’m here for is a battle with you, Zephyr.
I suppose I’ll have to heal your pokemon and be on my way then. I hope you begin to strategize instead of just brute forcing your fights.
Agustine is no-nonsense sounding man. But inside has heart of gold. He also speaks in inconsistently broken English. I've imagined him as having a russian or italian accent, but don't feel the need to go for those. It's a little cliche anyway, right? Do your own thing. (Shoes is the name of his former pokemon, but Zephyr took it as shown in line 3.)

I battle you on Shoes’ behalf.
No. Will defeat you next time and take Shoes back. But thank you for kindness.
I live Agoraphobia Street. Don’t take Shoes’ theft personally, but will defeat you and take back.

I was just tryin’ to get you stretched out. Sorry, I get a li’l rough,
Anyway, I think that’s enough formalities. You lookin’ for a pokemon battle, sugar? ‘Surely beats walkin’.
Akshara is the eighth gym leader in the Avalis League. She's also a streamer, like Iono and Canari. But while Iono is a casual streamer and Canari is a gamer, Akshara is more of a vlogger, taking her chat with her everywhere she goes.
Apologies if I didn't write her completely accurate to real streamers, I don't watch any streamers.

Editor, cut that out in the video... Zephyr, you’re a powerful trainer. Definitely worthy of Alexa’s endorsement.
Oh, that’s where I just came from. I had to charge my phone and all. Audrey told me you were gonna stay and figure out what’s going on with Adelmire Grove’s orchard, totally cool you’d do that for them, by the way.
This segment is going to be its own video. Ugh, now I have to intro all over again... *take a breath* We’re eating today with the League Challenger Zephyr! Introduce yourself!
Audrey is a mysterious woman. All that's known about her at this point in the story is that she's cheerful and loves to laugh. For this role, you will have to laugh way way too much. Just make sure you have a good fake laugh for this role. She finds everything funny.

*chuckle* It’s a funny story. So, I was sick of all the complaining in Adelmire Grove. You know, the Leppa stealing stuff? So, *chuckle again* I figured I’d get you to go back there and solve the mystery!
Oh, you didn’t notice? Amigo is standing on your Fork’s shadow, so she’s tagged right now.
Ace is the champion of the Avalis League. He's like Lance from the original pokemon games, except he isn't a jerk. So more like Leon, I guess. He's always willing to lend a hand and look sick while doing it.

That may be the case, but it’s just because I have this confidence. I’m sure if we have a battle you’ll see that you’re capable too.
See, doesn’t that win make you feel better? How are you physically, though?
Here you are. It was lovely walking with you, Zephyr.
Aileen is a member of The Afternoon Society, a cult whose motivations aren't revealed yet, but they're evil.
Aileen doesn't have any power in the group, she just feels entitled to a victory against Zephyr and the right to kill him since he interrupted her first mission in episode one.

Oh, you better believe there’ll be a next time. And I’m going to win once and for all!

There’s some unknown bug pokemon in my house. I found it inside of an old encyclopedia, eating the pages.
I don’t get out often. There’s so many types of bugs in Adelmire Grove. I’m fine right here.
You think I can’t tell what’s going on? I had to get you out of the house one last time before you leave for good.
Darek is a man with a cartoonishly exaggerated German accent. He's a reference to Hopschef from Deltarune Chapter 5. He has a very delicate balance and routine, and if anything throws it off, pure anarchy. (Note: J is a Y in pronunciation, except for in enjoy.)

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is not your captain speaking. It is our mission to ensure that everyone on this flight finds a watery grave. Have a fantastic rest of your day, and thanks for flying Applin Airlines.
Damn it, Aileen... I have to do everything myself.
Why are you reading it out loud, you idiot.

Welcome to Applin Airlines! We’ll be headed to the Avalis region soon. Before we take off, here’s how to keep everyone safe while we’re on our way to Aaridge City Airport!
Avalis is known for two things. The mountain range at the center of the region, Victory Mountain, and our extra large Leppa Berries.
Putting the visuals and audio together into one video. Hopefully the visuals shouldn't be hard to do, all I want is to have the story on screen, both in its Google Doc form and its AO3 form.
And it'll be scrolling down every now and then as the lines are read.
