Project Overview

SVA Senior Thesis film

Synopsis:
Alone in the snow, Charis reflects on what led to standing over the battered body of a corpse.

The film has a long spoken-word monologue overtop background arguments and yelling with character's siblings. It's bitter, angry and tense; getting progressively more desperate as Charis confronts an off-screen character. She's unwilling to let go of nostalgia, reciting words she'd heard growing up with an air of vindication.

Only one character with spoken dialogue, all others are noises.

  • (V.O.) Selfish. Ungrateful. “It must be that tv cause y’all sure as hell ain’t learn it from me!” The idea of an us clogged by the need to maintain mine. Gum still owed, Socks never given back. Clenching some scrap of respect out of lips that never meant the word sorry.

  • (Frustration builds to a yell): Too big for the buggy, too big for the bed frame, too big for this body– Say something! Apologize, and mean it!
