Six years prior to the events of Life is a Table 1, a rogue bounty hunter known as Mariachi attacks a UNSC warehouse, taking data that could put the planet in jeopardy. With his long-time partner and mentor now dead, Wilburn must take up the mission to stop Mariachi by any means necessary.
Join him as he fights, investigates and questions his way through problems, gaining friend and foe along the way, all before Mariachi could do something fatal.

Dr. Wilburn is a Special Agent for the CPD, the local police department. He used to be a wrestler, however had to quit once his hip was damaged. He soon got into medicine, working as a surgeon, figuring it was much easier on his hip at the time.
Soon, a civil war began, and Wilburn was forced to join as a medic. This put Wilburn through a test, to see his purpose in life, which he quickly came to understand was helping people.
Once the war was over, Wilburn was offered a job in the CPD, working in their detective bureau. He's been working there for a few years, under the guidance of Horrigan, a top-leading agent. Wilburn and Horrigan have been through so much, taking down traitors such as The Jester, stopping terrorist attacks from people like Shade.
He's rather worn-out by all this chaos in the world, never having the nerve to settle down as long as people were hurt. He likes working in a team, and enjoys company as he continues on cases, but can get rather mixed up in emotions if the wrong nerves are pushed.
Overall, he's a pretty swell guy, let's just hope he stays that way.
(Recalling an odd story) I've never been much for shooting and killing nobody. I mean, it's my obligation to patch them up afterwards if that's the case. One time I had this one fella who kept getting up and shooting me every time I got him good to go! I mean, can ya believe it? People these days are crazy.
(Suspicious) That's strange... New Milwaukee riot rounds. Now, I don't know about you, but that's a very, very long ways from here. Figure it's Mariachi?
(Angry, but conflicted) Stop right there! I-I really have half a mind to blast your skull off, you know that? The people you've killed... the lives you are about to take, is it really worth it, Mariachi? I can't bring half a planet back to life!
Mariachi is a bounty hunter and a practitioner of The Old West. He loves his culture, his identity surrounded by it, donning the name 'Mariachi' for his keen interest in flamenco and various Mexican music. He grew up in a family of bandits, outlaws which would take various heists and stick-ups.
He grew conditioned to the sound of their music, associating it with the beauty of violence and combat. Eventually times would change, and his family would get wiped out one by one. Some fled, others died, but he tried to stay for as long as he could, knowing no other life. Soon the civil war would come by, and he would join the rebellion.
Numerous times, he would be squared up against gunslinger legend Ned West, the two forming a rivalry during the war, at times even working together. But once the war was ending, Mariachi knew he wanted something else in his life for once, finding love with a woman. He escaped a raid on his compound, not telling a soul that he was settling down to have a family.
Mariachi settled into the quiet life, taking up music, unknowingly triggering his need for violence. Fearing what could happen, he took his old guns up, and left his family, settling back into his life of crime.
Mariachi found money in taking things of high value from the UNSC, whether that was information or VIP targets. But soon, his luck would turn for the better, finding a lead on a data chip worth millions, enough to leave behind for his family for the day he dies.
Mariachi isn't much of a talker, although he understands English, he never likes to speak it, feeling at home by speaking his native tongue. While he is stern and antisocial, his combat style tells a different tale, a fighter who moves to the flow of the music in his head.
Note - Mariachi speaks Spanish almost all the time. Voice actors would need an understanding of dialect or are willing to do minor research
(Angered) No entiendes nada, cabron! Estoy haciendo esto por la familia. (You understand nothing, asshole! I'm doing this for family.)
(Sympathetic) Hiciste lo mejor que pudiste. (You did your best.)
(Irritated) Al diablo con usted. I want my money. (To hell with you. I want my money.)
Charla is a Special Agent for the CPD, secretly hiding her identity as The New Milwaukee Killer. She is a sociopath wild card, doing whatever will hurt someone as it provides an incredible thrill for herself.
She joined the police force after her father made arrangements for training. Charla adapted quickly, but took notice at how much fun it was to catch the bad guys, or to shoot them. Soon she unlocked her killer potential, realizing she was in the best position of all time for someone of her interests.
She killed many people during her time in New Milwaukee, all while covering evidence and taking lead in the investigation.
Charla then left to join the military, but was soon kicked out due to apparent mental instability. Fortunately for her, she found work at the CPD in their detective department, wondering if she should start again, or find the mission that would give her the perfect escape to a new unknown life.
Mariachi capturing the chip has ensured Charla having a chance to catch a new identity, she just has to bust a few heads, break a few necks, and stab a few backs along the way.
(Nonchallant) I'd say she was just a little bit pissed I slaughtered her family and all. Honestly I love having little rivalries like that, makes the dramatic showdown soooo so much better. Then uh... stab, they're dead. The world keeps spinning and I keep killing. Circle of life.
(Antagonising) Hey, buddy, wisen up and fuck off. Me and doc here got official police business, which means you... gotta go. Or does my gun need to do the talking?
(Inspired) Hey, hey, loosen up doc! We're about to have the fight of a lifetime! We kill Mariachi, take pictures with his body or whatever else you guys do here, then uhh we go. That's that. Friend avenged and your gal just got a shiny paycheck.
Reyes is a Special Agent for the CPD, working as a tech specialist for Wilburn. He's witty but would rather not get involved in the field, however the death of the agents during this mission to take down Mariachi fuels that desire to come out of the station and follow.
He began trying to work as a hacker, but just when he was getting started, the mass hack of The Jester happened, and he realized the game he was getting into was too dangerous.
Reyes eventually joined the CPD under their Intergalactic Pursuit Cop division, not realizing this was going further from his skills with tech. He just wants to catch the bad guy and make them pay.
He then managed to get accepted into the detective division, which saw him work as a field agent initially. During his investigations and cases, he would find out about the killing at New Milwaukee, setting up his own theory board as a past-time.
Eventually Reyes was granted the position of tech specialist, and it was soon after that he began having a family. However things will get challenged for Reyes now, as Mariachi leads the department on a wild goose chase across the planet, even stringing Reyes along.
(Jokingly) Right... so you want me to leave the station just to check out some broken ass jammer that you could easily cart back here?
(Upset) Because it was you who got those agents killed! Our friends, our comrades! Why? Just why?
(Intrigued) Wow, haven't seen tech like this for a long time. You know they had holograms like this a few years back, some weird shadow people using them to monitor places. Wonder what this one is doing here.
Lobo is a bounty hunter with a love for explosives. He is loud, usually rather laid back, but likes to get aggressive and violent.
He used to be a big game hunter, before finding animals and creatures no longer a challenge, instead finding that in people. He'd get into fights over anything, and boy was it fun when he beat them into the ground.
Soon he began hunting people with an illusive society that did the same, before getting bored and attacking the society for the challenge. It was amazing for him, he had met his match, and a truce was made between the two as Lobo went on his way to find a new target.
He became a mercenary and professional hunter (of people), finding purpose in the challenges it brought. He only hopes now to fight legends, such as Shade or Mariachi. But now that he's heard there's a data chip of mass destruction? Oh boy he really wants in.
(Non-challant) Nah, I'm here to bash your fucking skull into the sun if you don't hand over that chip.
(Condescending) Hey, brutha. I'm looking for someone. Red guy. Old West revolvers. Quiet fella. I'd be hoping you're willing to spill your guts to me... figuratively or literally is fine.
(Furious) You really think you can take me!? Me!? I am unstoppable! Immovable! I keep heads of people like you as trinkets for my bar!
Dean is an assassin under the guise of a wandering pianist, working for a shadow organization known as The Chaos Syndicate. He is armed with the standard issue backpack containing tools and weapons, and is an expert saboteur.
He has worked in The Chaos Syndicate for most of his life, moulded and perfected to be the perfect assassin. His real name long gone, and all that made him an individual erased, all but one thing: His love for piano. He was fortunate to be assigned as a pianist for a cover, as the music brought his old self back, piece by piece.
Slowly he grew hatred, realizing just how much of his life was taken by The Chaos Syndicate, and how they'd just remove him eventually. And so, once he was assigned to capturing the famed data chip capable of nuclear war, he had a plan.
He leaked the information of the chip out into the world for mercenaries to find. The Chaos Syndicate were willing to strike a deal with anyone who had it, and it just so happened to land with Mariachi.
Dean feels this mission is the make or break. Either he gets that chip and has the defenses from anyone, and the power to control the planet, or he lets it go, and becomes a slave once more.
(Monotone) I had hoped we could come to a suitable arrangement. Negotiation is a large part of my training... but so is getting results.
(Fruious) I've hunted this chip down for four fucking years! It's my right to have it! So hand it over or I have your family slaughtered within the hour!
(Monotone) Mission successful, fourteen targets eliminated. (Pause) Hmpf, make that fifteen.
Warden is the chief of the CPD's detective division. He has great care for his team, sometimes not well reflected in his tone, but his intentions are good. He served in the war with the UNSC, then later worked in the CPD.
He worked with another division of the CPD, a special forces division, that trained officers to be soldiers, and had a hand in that training. It soon went to human experimentation, all to create a perfect soldier, and Warden went along with it.
Soon it was becoming hard to bear on his conscience, none of these people knew what they were getting into. He attempted to have the program shut down by the Chief of the CPD, Smith. But it was a failure and he was assigned to work in the detective department.
Warden wants to fix the world, one step at a time, realizing part of the problems in the world are by him. He feels naïve, having let people like The Jester work with them, before attacking in a large-scale hack that disrupted the world. But he works for redemption, and so far Wilburn and Horrigan have been the key to that.
And now with Mariachi on the loose with a chip that could kill everyone, he needs Wilburn to fight harder more than ever, otherwise he'll never sleep knowing the horrors he has unleashed on the world.
(Monotone) You'll be needing a partner if you are to undertake this mission. Fortunately, an agent will be ready within a day or two.
(Suspicious, yet confident) But, we found something rather odd. See, Mariachi uses .50 calibre rounds, as seen with Horrigan. But the agents that worked with you? All .45 calibre, also known as New Milwaukee riot rounds.
(Frustrated) He needs to die, Wilburn! He's got your partner killed, and how many more will follow!? Doesn't help we had a psycho under our noses the whole time.
Ned West is a professional gunslinger and freelance outlaw, known as the fastest gun from The Old West, and stands as one of the few practitioners of The Old West. He was a lawman during the times of The Old West, hunting bandits and other scoundrels.
The war then happened, and he took up his guns to fight the rebels. He and Mariachi would meet often, fighting, sharing a strange respect for each other, rather than hatred.
When Mariachi supposedly died, and the war was nearing the end, Ned West was ready to be done with it. He turned over his guns, and focused on the family he had. Once his son started taking interest in joining the CPD, Ned West soon followed behind, taking his guns up and working as a lawman, always with his moral code: No one dies.
Rumors come through, Mariachi has taken a nuclear warfare data chip and is taking it to the highest bidder. Ned West isn't sure what to think, but he may as well follow and see if it's true, and if maybe he can reconcile with what may be his last friend from the old times.
(Stern) Hold it. Take one more step and I pull the trigger. You've got a lot to answer for, Mariachi, specifically the why of this predicament.
(Solemn) Ah, I am sorry about that. Nothing's more important than family. Just... make the right choice, okay? I ain't willing to die today, not by you.
(Sentimental) Well, here we go. The last two guns of The Old West. Draw!
Horrigan is a Special Agent for the CPD and Wilburn's mentor. He comes across as antisocial and rude, but also has a very inquisitive frame of mind. He's a straight-shooter, always to the point and always working to complete a mission.
Horrigan was an orphan and grew up in a gang, eventually he grew up to change his ways and started working in the CPD. At first he was a believer of 'orders are orders' and would do things without question, but then he learned to think for himself. This granted him what many lacked: Creativity.
He rose through the ranks as his life outside the force disappeared, until all he had left was work. Horrigan grew to accept this, and worked on harder cases, becoming Warden's partner. Eventually Warden felt he taught Horrigan all he knew, leaving Horrigan to be a mentor himself, which is where Wilburn came in.
(Contemplative) The past will always follow you, Wilburn. I've lived in the past long enough, perhaps you're the key to the future.
(Monotone) Focus. We sneak into the warehouse, eyes up, ears open. Check Mercury, then for threats, then... proceed from there.
(Sentimental) You've got a long life ahead of you, Wilburn. I can't teach you anything more because there is nothing more I have to offer. You stand to gain a lot more. So go.
Donna is a hacker working for The Chaos Syndicate, helping Dean with his mission. She does not have a cover, instead working entirely within the confines of the base. She is one of the only people who knew about The Jester's hacking process and could have stopped it.
Donna used to work in the UNSC before getting discharged after an explosive almost took off her leg. She was determined to find a way to keep serving, which lead her to work at the CPD. Her determination lead her to be taken into their special forces division, specifically as a technician. Warden gave her a chance to heal her leg and serve as she wanted, so she took it.
Donna's mind was fractured, and was left in her own mental prison, before The Chaos Syndicate came in and offered her a position there. From there her life was slowly being erased while she grew more proficient with tech, eventually becoming their lead hacker.
Sometimes old memories manage to come back, but she knows better than to let them linger.
(Monotone) Uploading coordinates, standby. Please ensure all remaining threats are eliminated, Dean.
(Hesitant) I'm... unsure at this time, Clarence. Dean's vitals are unclear.
Mercury is a Special Agent for the CPD, working as a mechanical engineer. He is a rookie, having only worked in the detective division for a few months. He likes to have an open heart, but knows sometimes that it's best to choose when that can be applied.
Mercury grew up in a formal academic life, but soon shed that once the war began affecting his home. By the time he was old enough to join the UNSC, the war was over, so he turned to work at the CPD. He's heard of people like Ned West working with them, inspiring him in himself that he'd meet other war legends in his time there.
(Distracted) Yeah sorry, haven't got the radar working yet. I'm more than certain there's a jammer around here, so keep a lookout, and don't stray far.
(Concerned) Shit, I heard something. Uh maybe you guys should come back. I think someone's in here with me...
West is a Special Agent for the CPD, and the son of famed gunslinger Ned West. He's optimistic and aims to inspire, however hides a rather uncertain nature about himself and the role he is to take some day.
West joined the CPD shortly after graduating, wanting to follow in his father's footsteps. However comparisons could not stop being made, and the pressure added on, never stopping. West has learned he needs to be calm and strong for others if he is to become a leader, but underneath he fears that he will never live up to the expectation placed upon himself.
He plans to leave the CPD someday, join the UNSC instead where things are more uniform, maybe find some way to make a legacy on his own.
(Suspicious) Cole, make sure to escort Dean out of here, and check him for anything. I don't trust this guy one bit.
Understood sir, I'll make sure he's out.
Chuck Blizerian is an oil baron and the father of Dan Blizerian. He's loud and obnoxious, at times playing up to match his role as an oil baron. At times he shows to have a good heart, with great care for his family and what he leaves behind.
Chuck wants his two sons to succeed, wanting to build his business so that the day he passes, they can take over with ease and success. But he quickly can come to a foul mood when progress is halted for no good reason, such as Mariachi breaking the door leading to his supply line.
(Irritated) He sure did pass through here. Busted up the door and everything. I've been stuck here for three days because that jackass did that!
(Annoyed) I swear if I have to deal with another one of you detective wack jobs, I'm busting out the ol' hunting rifle and mounting your helmets on my wall!
(Sentimental) Look, I'm doing this for my sons. One of them believes he has a fish wife, and I sent him off to the UNSC to get his head all checked out. I'm gonna die someday, and they're gonna have the bestest and most badassest business of all time.
Saul is a Special Agent for the CPD, working mainly on guard duty. He works primarily with Diego, and the two get along great. Saul is rather sick of his job and hopes to leave soon, and not in a casket.
He took the lazy route when joining the CPD, doing bare minimum and letting people do the work. Eventually he learned to chip in and do his fair share once he realized he wasn't getting anywhere, eventually striking a friendship with Diego.
Now he and Diego work guard duty, a position they prefer due to it being far from the action, and still getting decent pay, even with the boredom.
(Stern) Hey hey hey! You can't go through. We're on high alert due to the Mariachi case, so come back later when it's resolved, 'kay?
(Uncomfortable) Just get out of here. You're starting to give me the creeps.
Diego is a Special Agent for the CPD, but works primarily as a gate guard. He works with Saul at the gate, the two getting along well. Diego has plans to stick around for a while longer, but eventually wants to go the casinos and try his luck there.
Diego worked hard to get into the CPD, since he failed UNSC's basic training, and barely passed his tests. Eventually once he was in and realized there wasn't that much to do in his field, he began to lay back, eventually landing into a friendship with Saul.
Diego and Saul took the guarding jobs since it requires minimal effort and they can just talk all the time.
(Confident) Tell you what, friendo. Leave us your name, we'll get it to the Captain, we'll contact you I'm sure.
(Confused) You're... a pianist? Are you sure you're at the right place? This is the CPD... you know, the police station.
Cole is a Special Agent for the CPD, working primarily as a receptionist and guard with West. Cole has worked in the CPD for years, sticking primarily to desk jobs since he had his shoulders broken due to a bomb defusal gone wrong.
Cole is kind and patient, wanting to do his job, but can't help but feel bad for people when his job ends up making life difficult for others. He aims to be done with the job once he's older or they kick him out.
(Nervous) Ah hey, sorry to do this, but I gotta quickly search you. Everyone's just a little scared right now is all, you know, the case and everything.
(Hesitant) Sure I can, but is there anything else I should know? You guys are kinda spooked. Is he... is he with Mariachi?
Terry is a Special Agent for the CPD, working on gate security. He is a part time conspiracy theorist and loves to gossip about whatever and whoever. He works with Paula regularly, but also rotates with Diego and Saul.
Terry wanted to be the lead receptionist at the CPD, but he did a little too well on his exams in the combat training, so was assigned as a field agent. The work was getting a little too much for him, the stress being a huge factor, so he was put down to guard duty. He often talks with coworkers or goes out for events when work is off.
(Suspicious) Uhh, I dunno about you, but something about her story isn't adding up. Why is it that she's always the sole survivor of each attack?
(Shocked) Can't believe he's dead though. He was the next in line to be the best agent, at least so I heard. How the mighty have fallen.
Paula is a Special Agent for the CPD, working as gate security. She actively wants to increase her standing in the department, believing she could be one of the great agents someday. She's very suspicious of new people, often conducting her own investigations to ensure they're not a theat.
Paula wanted to be an officer when she heard stories of The New Milwaukee Killer, believing that ever since there was a trail, she could be the one to solve the case. Once joined with the CPD, she worked actively with an agent known as Erin, but then she went rogue.
The two had actively discussed the case, which reinforced Paula's motive, and once Erin was gone, she knew she had to prove herself to the department if she wanted to make an impact as big as taking down The New Milwaukee Killer.
After Erin had died by Charla, Paula was put onto guard duty. She intends to break out of that position some day, using her own time to talk to Warden about possible leads, doing what she can for the Mariachi case, believing there might be a link to New Milwaukee.
(Confrontational) And how do we know you didn't kill them, eh? Could all be some weird coverup by you and we wouldn't have a clue.
(Patronizing) Don't believe everything you hear, Terry. Your brain would literally melt out your helmet one day if you trusted everyone's word.
Andrew is a Special Agent for the CPD, working as a tech specialist for Warden personally. He is desperate to make a good impression in the department, especially since Reyes already is regarded as a top technology specialist. He is rather new to the job however, and his inexperience causes him to be very nervous when approaching others.
Andrew was a struggling academic student, eventually turning to the faith for guidance. He found purpose, and went straight into the CPD, wanting to make a difference for the work and feel like he was doing something worthwhile with his life.
(Concerned) Sir, you should come look at this. I think it's spelling out 'Wilburn'.
(Distracted) Oh hey, yeah, just talk to Warden. I'm trying to decode this morse code stuff.
Clarence is an assassin and espionage specialist working for The Chaos Syndicate under the guise of a wandering tourist. He uses the cover of being a bright and shining tourist, never seeming to have cracks in his persona, just the embodiment of a happy and helpful neighbor.
Clarence was taken into The Chaos Syndicate when he was a child, being brainwashed and perfected into a manipulative killer. He is fully aware that he had a past life, and remembers some parts, but refuses to even consider it, just a memory of a past he didn't care for.
His joyful demeanour is likely a result of the emotions he would study, having to practice being naturally charming to people in order to use them the best.
While he is an expert in emotional manipulation, he also is an expert of covert operations and espionage, having killed many people, from soldiers to major public figures. He isn't ranked for being the top combatant, and he accepts that entirely, believing the true killer is heart, not bullets.
Deep down he has no care for what goes on, or who is impacted, as long as a mission is complete and he does his duty well.
(Excited) Well that's just fantastic news! Please pass it along to Sullivan for his mission. I'd hate for him to lose this one, we've got our very secrecy on the line.
(Joyful to monotone) Oh and Donna! Don't lie to me again.
Leland is a Brigadier General in the UNSC and is the current director of the Containment training program. He is a war veteran and has grown very irritable, having no patience for no progress. He spearheads projects into large scale action, wanting to push development in the UNSC in the case of another war.
Leland was a sharpshooter when he first worked in the UNSC, serving the first war during The Old West. The war had changed him from being an enthused and inspired young man, to a bitter and hateful soldier. They barely won the war, and it destroyed Leland, feeling he lost everything for nothing.
Eventually he met with a woman who seemed to bring him out of that hateful daze, and soon started a life with her. But shore leave was up, and he had to return, having a son now. Leland eventually had to return for the second war after The Old West, and this would be the time it broke him.
His lover had died from the rebellions attacks, leaving him with his son while he drank himself to the ground. Leland was promoted to a Colonel at the end of the war, but he felt he had earned nothing, just love lost and a son that would grow up to hate him.
Leland prepared his son for war, never wanting the same fate to fall to him. This broke the boy's spirit, but Leland didn't care, as long as his son survived, it wouldn't matter. Leland became a bitter and distant commander, soon realizing the war could return, much harder.
So he made plans to create a program to train soldiers ready for that war, using misfits and those that didn't fit. But with the many issues that came from that, including the events surrounding a killer named Blu, he needed to hire someone to keep tabs and enforce his rules, and he found the perfect criminal to do that...
(Monotone) I'll make this brief, I have no time for small talk. I want you to be my leading agent in the Containment training program. Deal or no?
(Irritated) I haven't any time for fuck-ups, Ms. Cunningham. You want a reduced sentence or should I push your execution up to right now?
(Rushed and monotone) Splendid, sign the forms from my assistant. If I find out your plotting something, I'll kill you myself.
