We’ll Make Our Own Pack: Update 3

We’ll Make Our Own Pack: Update 3

Project Overview

Since it’s taking so long to get voice actors, I’m opening this project up yet again. Closed rolls are Danielle, Felicia, Aaron, Liza, and Ciara. Everything else is open, even though there are a few pending options. If you auditioned and have not gotten a role, don’t worry, you still have a chance. I’m just not sure weather to accept or deny some of them.

I would not be mad if you spread the word to your fellow voice actors to get it done faster. :)

I’m hoping to make a spin off of the old trope “Who Says Cats and Dogs Can’t be Together” from the Gacha Life community. This will basically be a freestyle video I’ll put up on my YouTube channel just for fun. The story will be simple as this is a side project, and will cover the school life of teenagers in a world where traditional teenagers don’t exist.

This project currently has no deadline, as it’s my first time and help is slow coming. Thank you for your patience.

The world:

This is a modern storyline that takes place mostly at a high school. The people here are not traditional humans, and are instead half human and half some type of animal. Depending on which type of animal you are, the more likely you are to take on characteristics of that animal as it is in the real world. For example, a half rabbit is much more likely to get scared easily than they are to be a fighter by design. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, though.

The story:

The story here is about the daily life of Elise, an energetic golden retriever with a lot of friends and a few enemies. These enemies are a pack of cold hearted wolves, who care for no one but themselves. Elise, being quite the protector, has been battling with them for years for bothering her and her friends. One day, she finds the feistiest of said wolves fighting a couple of students who clearly don’t deserve it. Once she steps in, things start to change for the better— even if only a bit at a time.

Elise (El-ees)

Elise is a golden retriever gal with a loud sense of humor. She acts a lot like a classic teenage girl, but doesn’t follow trends or have a particularly noticeable sense of fashion. She does care for her friends and protects them from anyone or anything without a second thought. She is the main character.

Voice: Elise is highly energetic and speaks with confidence. She can have either a higher or lower voice, but is generally average. She does not have a particularly high or low voice. In my head she has an American accent, but I am open to all accents if they fit her well enough. It is obvious what she is feeling when she speaks.

  • (Annoyed, angry) Sorry, not really seeing the “superiority” here. Maybe you outta consider being less petty.

  • (Mischevious, without regret) Yeah, I got in trouble. But it was SO worth it.

  • (Very excited) Woah, what is that?? Can you tell me about it???

Matt

Matt is the love interest of Elise. He’s kind and passive, but not shy. Get him going and he can be as witty as anyone else. He hates conflict but isn’t a pushover. If it’s for the best, he’ll do what he needs to. He’s kind of seen as nerdy because of his glasses and also his high productivity levels. He has been described as a workaholic at times, and is a little camera shy.

Voice: Matt isn’t nearly as energetic as Elise, but has a fairly similar voice to her. It’s around average, not too high or low, and not too strong or soft either. I think I’ll be pleased with most auditions, to be honest. As for accent, I’m hoping for a British or more accurately, UK accent. I also will allow Australian or American, if it fits well.

Note: If you’re inherently American, and wanna try for a British accent, please try to be less prominent. I’ve noticed that a lot of people try too hard to be British and it ends up sounding fake. The type of accent I want is more subtle, and could even sound American on some words without specific vowels. You can always send in multiple auditions if you’re not sure how it should sound.

  • (Agitated) Can't you just leave it alone!? We haven't done anything to you!

  • (a bit panicked) I’m sorry I’m late! (knowing you won't get away with it) I, uh, absolutely didn't forget...?

  • (Passive, but a bit aggressive.) Oh, this? Nothing. Just a book that’s older then me. Not a big deal.

Henry

Henry is Matt’s best friend. He’s a chill character who doesn’t bother avoiding things. Instead, he just outright declines them. For instance, if he was told to take out the trash, he wouldn’t bother making excuses. Instead, he might look you in the eye and say, “Nope. Not feeling like a slave today.” He’s a hobby jumper, and is moderate in everything he has ever and will ever try. This also means he is pretty indecisive on what he wants to do with his life because he doesn’t have one strong passion.

Voice: This role will probably say Bro a lot. That's just Henry. He's a pretty chill individual, and doesn't get angry easily. He does, however, have a very expressive side in terms of victory and competition. Other than those strong bursts, he tends to stay at a mediocre range level. Don't overemphasize things unless the situation calls for it.

  • (A bit worried, mostly curious) Bro, where have you been!? Class started like half an hour ago!

  • (A bit amused) Hey, is this yours? I feel like only you would attempt to read this.

  • (Unimpressed, unconcerned, somewhat bitter) I don’t feel like dealing with you today. Bye.

Oliver (ol-iv-er)

Oliver is the last wolf of the pack. Being an omega, he’s the lowest in power. He’s timid, and silent, and very distant. He skips out on things his friends are going to and makes excuses. Oliver has a bad relationship with the beta wolf, Aaron, due to doing nothing in most situations that the beta dubs “important.” If you ever leave them alone, they’ll fight— but that’s about as much interaction you can get out of the omega. Unless you’re Danielle. Danielle is magic. He doesn’t enjoy his situation and doesn’t care to hide it. Danielle has an outside perspective and takes him by surprise— they become good friends later on.

Voice: He doesn't speak much compared to the other supporting roles. When he does, he's usually sounding indifferent to anything suggested. He has almost no emotion in his voice when he's around his normal group, and has an air around him that suggests he would like be anywhere else-- just not here. He's got a lot hiding under that silence, and it's hard to make it come out to the top.

  • (agitated) What a waste of time.

  • (Fascinated) He says it’s not every day you meet a pack, but I wouldn’t mind meeting more commoners. They’re so different...It’s interesting.

  • (Genuinely confused) Why... are you talking to me...?

Ethan (ee-than)

This character here is the male alpha of the wolf pack in our story. He takes pride in his pack and has the thirst for hunt for no particular reason. He’s very smart and schemes easily, but mostly doesn’t care about the existence of others as long as they stay out of his way. He is calm and collected most times, and looks logically at every situation. If it makes sense for him to stop his feisty beta from pounding other students in the floor, he will. No need, or room, for debate. He cares a lot for his girlfriend and knows her better than anyone.

Voice: Speaks cooly and with a lot of authority. He finds it is easiest to lead when he has a strong grasp on everything happening around him, and being calm about his surrounds helps enormously. He doesn't show much emotion to the public, for fear of slipping up, and has the must comfort when speaking alone to Felicia. This character always has a hint of emotion in his voice but stays relatively neutral.

  • (Cooly, but with aggression) Watch your tongue. Wouldn’t be a pretty sight if you lost it.

  • (Reassuringly) I trust your judgement. Remember that your ideas have a place in this pack, Felicia. Don't fear letting them out.

  • (Angry, annoyed) Did I ask for you to be insufferable!?

Councilor

cast offsite

This lady here is a raccoon authority figure of the school. I’m not sure if she’s a professor, a councilor, or a principal, but it hardly matters. All that you need to know is that she’s hardworking, strict and is tired of seeing Elise pick fights with the wolves.

Voice: She's firm, direct, and doesn't let any misbehavior go unpunished. She is strict, but not unkind, and gives as fair judgements as she can. She will really only be speaking when someone's breaking the rules. So she'll probably be a little ticked.

  • (Angrily) Elise! My office, now!

  • (Firm, cool, but angry still) Aaron will be suspended, started immediately. Elise, you have after school detention for a week. Matt, this is your first time, so I’ll let you off with a warning.

  • (Direct, firm, and still angry) How many times have I told you to stop picking fights? You’re both responsible, so don’t even try to shift the blame.

Matt's Mom

Matt’s mom as of now will only appear in one or two scenes. She should match his accent, whatever that ends up being. I will update this. She is very excited about everything her son does, and is constantly proud of things he doesn’t care about. This is mostly due to him having only one close friend and not caring much about extracurriculars.

Voice: Aside from accent, her voice type isn’t too specific. She has a lot of energy when she's excited, (which is a little too often, honestly) but other than that is more or less up for debate.

  • (Excited) So, tell me about your friends. Are they nice? Energetic?

  • (Calm, hopeful) I hear there’s a game happening at school tonight. Did you wanna go?

  • (Happy, super excited) Hi! You must be Matt’s friends! It’s so nice to meet you!

Teacher - female option
open
Unpaid

This character will only have a few lines in a single scene, or maybe a few. She can be either gender based off of which gender voice actor I get for this role. This audition area is for female tryouts. She is a teacher, she hates her job, and tends to sound very bored when she talks. When you read the lines, consider the emotion I’ve assigned the line, but then add a layer of “I’m so done” on top of it.

  • (Annoyed) Uuug. Just sit down.

  • (Angry) Hey! Cork it while you can and do as your told, would ya!?

  • (Neutral) This next project is a group project, and NO, you cannot choose your partners.
