Project Overview

Hello everyone!

Following the creation of my Halloween theme park ScareBrandLand last year, I'm looking to create a new VRChat halloween world titled ScareBrandLand: The Mazes, focusing primarily on Halloween Horror Nights/Fright Nights style walk-through horror mazes.

Each maze will have a different theme so there's a variety of roles on offer - the currently planned mazes include:

  • The Blackroot Project - A Blair Witch inspired trek through a cursed forest, with a supernatural entity tormenting you the whole way.
  • Rat Maze - A high intensity underground sprint as you run to escape a psychotic deep web game show.
  • Platform 13 - Inspired by Thorpe Park Fright Nights' "Platform 15" horror maze, trek down the train tracks as you uncover the sinister secrets behind the "Sleeper Express" incident and face the lingering spirits that haunt the line.
  • Deadly Clowns - Mojo T. Clown's sinister circus has come to town, and you're the main event! Enter the depths of the big top and face the troupe's latest routine.

This is the currently intended line-up, it is subject to change based on developmental and time factors.

Unfortunately I have no budget for this project, so I'm afraid I am asking for volunteers on this occasion.

  • Update on Progress + Deadline Extension!

    Hi everyone! Thank you all so, SO much for your auditions, there's been some absolutely fantastic performances submitted and I'm blown away. As we close in on October, I'm moving into high gear on production of ScBL:TM, so any roles that require just one person to be cast in them will most likely be getting cast in the next few weeks - there's plenty that I'll need multiple people for though, so don't be afraid to throw your hat in the ring if you'd like! Because of this, I've extended the audition deadline until August 31st while I finalise scripts and key moments in each maze. Stay tuned, and thanks again for all your auditions so far! - StoreBrand

The tour guide leads guests down the initial walkway and relays the story of the Sleeper Express, before ushering guests onwards into the maze proper. For reference, here's the character as in Platform 15, this maze's inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEMEqW__9hQ&t=82s

You're dressed up in Victorian era clothing, and you speak in quite a creepy almost-monotone, almost as if you're a ghost leading a new group to their fate.

  • Welcome to the evening tour of the Sleeper Express. The year is 1897. A train departs from London, leaving the now infamous Platform 13, a number very unlucky for some. There was a wedding party aboard, and sadly none of them would make the reception.

  • [You've just mentioned how the Sleeper Express suddenly came to a stop] The conductor said "Sit tight! I'll go back down the track and get some help! Don't worry, I'll be be right back!" Tell me, ladies and gentlemen, do you think he returned? ... [Assuming everyone said "no"] No. He was never seen again.

  • [You've completed your speech, and your lantern begins to flicker.] It appears my lantern is running out of oil. You go on ahead, I'll head back down the tracks and get some help. [Echoing the conductor] Don't worry... I'll be right back.

[Platform 13] - Sleepers

The Sleepers are the spirits of those lost in the Sleeper Express incident, haunting the railway where they died and the nearby village.

Dressed in their formal attire, oil seeps from their mouths and eyes.

Don't hold back with those screeches, but make sure not to hurt yourself!

An old man or woman very familiar with the occult arts who guests encounter just before Platform 13's finale.

Slightly creepy, but genuinely wants to help guests survive the spirits.

  • Restless tonight, aren't they? The spirits... I think this was the night when it happened... This is the last place they saw him, you know, the one who went to get help. He's still in there, but there's someone else, a woman. She doesn't like him at all.

  • Follow the path, my dears. The salt keeps most of them away. [Stern] If you see *anyone* trying to guide you... Don't do what they say. They probably want to lead you to her.

  • [Panicking] She's here! The Bride's here! This way, run, RUN! Don't look back, RUN! GO!

The Hunters of the Rat Maze are tasked with chasing down and killing the game's contestants. They're absolutely crazy, often fusing weapons into their very flesh.

This role is highly improvisational and quite intense - give it your all!

[The Blackroot Project] - The Doe

The Doe is the terrifying, enigmatic spirit that haunts and protects Blackroot Forest, taking the appearance of an anthropomorphic deer and capable of transforming those who would harm the forest into living trees as well as manipulating the environment of those who trespass on her domain.

The Doe never speaks, but does make horrible, ethereal noises, and jumpscares guests at one point. As a tree spirit, she sounds quite otherworldly, with heavy, distant reverb on her voice.

  • [Long, cautious, ethereal groan]

You're an urban explorer hungry for "first looks" - adventurous, charismatic, brave - but the supernatural occurrences eventually start to get to you.

  • Now, I'm sure you've all heard the rumors about Blackroot Forest, the whole team of loggers going missing, couple teens coming in and never coming out, I know - I don't think it's true, and this is too good to pass up. I sent a quad up yesterday - see that? That's a house, right in the middle of the forest, and it wasn't there last week. No way anyone lives out here, so we're gonna get the first pics. C'mon, stay close.

  • [Something very weird is going on] Wait... No, no, that's not... The path was here... Damn it... Alright, it's gotta be this way then...

  • [You're being confronted by The Doe, you're absolutely terrified] (5 seconds of whimpering, then...) I... I-I'm sorry... I-I'm so sorry...

A headstrong urban explorer who accompanies the group and the first UE. Once the Doe makes her prescence known, he starts a fire in an attempt to destroy her, incurring her wrath and meeting a gruesome fate at the hands of the Living Trees.
