Voice Synthesis UTAU: Luna

Voice Synthesis UTAU: Luna

Project Overview

UTAU is a singing synthesis tool that allows the creation of your own virtual singer. The people behind Steven Screwniverse are creating two voices: Luna and Io. Io is being developed within the group while Luna's voice is being chosen among the public.

In order to create a synthetic voice, you must be able to intone many samples of the Japanese language. Let me be clear: fluency in Japanese IS NOT required. The recording list is very easily learned.

If chosen, your samples will be programmed into an UTAU voicebank, given an avatar, and given out to people on the internet, who will be able to use it to sing their songs. When auditioning, please keep all samples at one pitch, and link a download to your tryout so that we may try it in the UTAU engine.

The samples are recorded in a VCV (vowel-consonant-vowel) style, so for instance the sample "a ka" is recorded "aaaaaaaakaaaaaaaaaaaa", with no space between the "a" and the "ka".

Japanese vowels are voiced as follows:

a - "ah"

i - "ee"

u - "ooh"

e - "eh"

o - "oh"
