Project Overview
ABOUT
Natsumi Hayashida, a college student, is presented with the opportunity of a life time: a full ride to a prestigious university half-way across the world. The catch? She and her classmates are stuck in a death game where killing your peers could lead to your only chance of escape. Will she be able to safely navigate her new life, or will she have uprooted her entire world for nothing?

If you're thinking, "Hey, this seems a little familiar." That's because it probably is. I set up a casting call back in January 2025, and while I adore all the auditions for it, I do think it was too early in the project's development to accurately cast everyone. Plus, my dialogue writing is rough, to say the least. I have more people on board now, and I won't get overwhelmed or burn myself out by taking on such a big task on my own. I'm further along in making preparations for all the cast and crew as well - I'm excited to see what new heights this project can reach!

Natsumi is a Japanese woman in her early 20s from the city of Nikko in the Tochigi Prefecture and the protagonist of Danganronpa: UProoted. She is the Ultimate Park Ranger.

Hardworking and outgoing, Natsumi is setting out to befriend everyone she meets. Despite this, she tends to struggle with intimacy - her workaholic tendencies tend to interfere with her relationships. She hates to be seen as clueless or in the wrong and will respond defensively when even the slightest bit of criticism or sense of distrust is levied at her.

Higher pitched, sort of "generic" female protagonist voice, similar to Emily from Class of '09 but way less valley girl/late 2000s accent and more expressive.

Kenny is very intellectual and reserved. He tries to rationalize the restricted range emotions he does experience and is not fond of socialization. While having a very rich and detailed inner world, Kenny does not view himself as particularly interesting or outstanding.
Voice
Extremely flat affect, very little variation in tone or pitch. Completely unemotional - it’s difficult to gauge what he’s feeling, or if he’s feeling anything at all. Think Abed Nadir from Community but deeper.

Ji-su has an extensive history with the entertainment industry, which has definitely warped her self-esteem and image. She wants be seen as attractive and popular, but is actually quite disconnected to the feelings of herself and her peers. As a result, she is a massive people pleaser. Ji-su wants people to be devoted to her, but secretly thinks herself as unworthy of the attention.
Voice
Has a stereotypical valley girl accent. Similar to Wendy from Red Velvet but slightly higher.

Tsiraka Côté is a Malagasy man in his early 20s from Antsiranana, Madagascar. He is the Ultimate Sailor.
Personality
Tsiraka appears very stoic and stern on the outside, but is polite and cordial upon introduction. He's very stingy with his time and is usually detached from others despite his veneer of friendliness at the beginning of relationships. Incredibly self-sufficient and adventurous, he hates to depend upon anyone or be subject to the whims of others.
Voice
Very curt and professional. Similar to Zagreus from the Hades games. Tsiraka grew up on a naval base, where his father is a high-ranking admiral. His speech is somewhat regimented because of this, but he's trying to break away from this pattern.

Personality
Mallory is bizarre and macabre, taking an interest in her parent’s funeral home for as long as she can remember. She’s obsessed with death and decay, and she often alienates others with her interests and unusual behavior. She often feels lost or helpless in her social life but doesn’t wish to do anything to change it. Outside of her social woes, she's quite calculated and analytical.
Voice
Creepy cute. Caitlin Doughty of Ask a Mortician is an inspiration - it’s similar but a bit higher. She can also speak rather bluntly.
You know, my last name should be Ogleman. However, there was an error in the census data in the mid 1800s. But this name is much more fitting for me, don't you think?
Have you heard of adipocere? It is also called corpse wax, and it's a result of bacteria breaking down the fats in your tissues. You can make soaps and candles out of it.
I believe the looming threat of one's own mortality in this game is enough to drive them mad, but I wouldn't imagine myself as particularly susceptible to that. Death has been such a constant in my life that I barely even think about it anymore.

Rocco Perry is a young man in his early 20s. He is from Kingston, Jamaica, and he is the Ultimate Horticulturist.
Personality
Dejected and defeated, Rocco tends to wallow in his own misery. He experiences dampened emotions except for sadness, and it seems like he's almost never in a good mood. He knows that it's not good to be down on himself, but he struggles to break his old habits. The only thing that really brings him any sort of joy is gardening.
Voice
Very sad and miserable, an extremely depressed version of Jeff Winger from Community. Also similar to the main character from Jack Stauber’s “rain” animation but less formal. He also has a flat affect, but less extreme compared to Kenny's voice.

Mai is intense, active, and hot-headed. She has a short fuse and loses her temper quite frequently. Mai always wants to be the victor or dominant person in any interaction, and she's an extremely sore loser. She's a major adrenaline junkie who is always looking for the next big thrill, and she tends to domineer over others even in casual conversation.
Voice
Scrappy and aggressive. She raises her voice and shouts a lot. Similar to Akane Owari and Miu Iruma but scratchier and higher pitched - there's some Rainbow Dash energy as well.
Extra
Mai has Graves' disease, a form of hyperthyroidism. Her voice can get quite hoarse and rough as a result of her condition, as well as her tendency to shout a lot.

David's world view is one drenched in cynicism. He's irony-poisoned to the point where he can barely take things seriously. He's quite hedonistic and is always looking for a fun time, as he has a deep fear of suffering and boredom. David does his best to hide said fears behind a humorous and engaging persona.
Voice
Relaxed and casual speech, sort of a combination of Raimundo Pedrosa from Xiaolin Showdown and Mac Demarco without the Canadian accent. Maybe a sprinkling of Ben Chang from Community when he’s angry.
Any instrument you can think of, I can probably figure out how to play it in an hour or two. I like guitars and stuff the most, though.

Sensible and a bit dreary, Lucio tries to maintain an air of humbleness despite his accomplishments. However, he is actually very judgmental and has a bit of an ego. He wants to disregard people he deems annoying or incompetent but doesn't in an attempt to spare their feelings. He's very socially aware and detail oriented, and he beats himself up for even the slightest mistakes.
Voice
Texan accent. Very soft spoken, similar to Clay Bailey (flash warning for the clip!) from Xiaolin Showdown but a bit quieter and higher. Lucio is a transgender man: trans-masculine/trans male voice actors will prioritized in terms of casting, but anyone can apply for the role.

Ileana is distant, secretive, and vigilant. She's incredibly detailed oriented and calculated with an almost compulsive desire to improve. She's very critical of herself and others, but she never lets it get in the way of self-growth and reflection. Ileana also sees herself as rather bland compared to her other Ultimate peers, but tries not to let it impact her social life.
Voice
Very subdued and a little restrained, similar to Kyoko Kirigiri from DR1 but deeper, or Eva Tsunaka from Project Eden’s Garden but less nasaly. Gets a lot more expressive when she’s upset or angered.

While Boris seems calm and collected on the surface, he can become very reactive and aggressive as a fear response. He is wary of trusting others, but does his best to maintain a facade of professionalism. Boris tends to unnerve the people around him, and no one can really put their finger on why.
Voice
This is so specific but he sounds like the man in the lab coat from the Breaking Bad anime dub meme but more constrained and deeper and less anime dub-ish.

Loud and high energy in the same vein as Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, but not as high pitched. Sounds like Estelle but a lot more stern and direct.

Teddy is an independent and easy-going outdoorsman. He prefers to spend time in nature and has a knack for quickly coming up with solutions to any problems he faces. Teddy doesn't mind talking to others but prefers solitude. He has a "go with the flow" attitude and lets people walk all over him. He's very intelligent and observant but can be a little gullible and tends to take what people say at face value.

Thick Aussie accent, very flat and reserved. Similar to Mike Dundee of Crocodile Dundee but a lot less expressive, a bit quieter, and a teeny bit higher. He speaks very flatly and bluntly, and he frequently trails off mid sentence or loses his train of thought.

A very soft, slightly monotone voice. Sounds half-asleep a lot of the time. Similar to Daisuke from the Mouthwashing Steam Awards animation but lower, or Poison Mushroom Cookie from Cookie Run but faster. Due to his narcolepsy, Souma may start to drift off or even fall asleep in the middle of a sentence.

She has a voice like that of the goon in the Breaking Bad anime dub meme but a lot more feminine and less like a troll that lives under the bridge. Also similar to Monokuma from the mainline DR games.

Professor Mona Logar is a Slovenian-American woman in her early 50s. She is the Dean of Students for Redwood State University's Ultimate Achievers Program, a tenured professor of English language and literature, and the Ultimate Dramaturge.
Personality
Mona is organized, efficient, and ambitious, but she still retains a warmth and kindness that makes her beloved amongst her students. She sees it as her duty to guide the next generation of Ultimates to success and will sacrifice everything to keep them on their paths.
Voice
Regal and professional, but still very comforting - similar to Princess Celestia from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
