ULTIMUS TOURNEY - Voices Wanted! (Wave 2)
Project Overview
Hi there! I'm MoonageDream, the director and main writer of Ultimus Tourney. Our previous call for voice talent was a success, so I feel like it'd be a good time to do a second run! This time, we've got more than one character available to claim, given our current emphasis on a deeper storyline and more character development.
Ultimus Tourney is a crossover music tournament inspired by SiIvaGunner's King For Another Day event, pitting 16 contenders from across internet pop culture, music creators, gaming icons, and more in a race to figure out the mysteries of an unexplainable force called the White Noise before it swallows everyone in its path. The story is told through a combination of written or voiced story segments, mashups and song arrangements, original music, and interactive voting segments that determine who will advance in the tournament, and we've been active since December of 2019.
Previously, many of the characters in the project were given voices via archived audio, but as you could imagine, this is limiting in the amount of content we can produce for characters reliant on this archived footage. That's why we're opening up this call, to bring the characters in the project to life in a more real way.
As of right now, we're opening the doors for quite a few characters. For example, Hisashi Nogami (inspired by his persona of a Squid Researcher), Shizuku (of "lo-fi beats to chill and study to" fame), 2D (lead singer of Gorillaz), and a few others. We're looking to have these characters voiced in primarily voiced audio drama segments, one of our main storytelling methods, alongside other voice talent.

Of course, there are a few basic needs we have to make sure we can work with you as smoothly as possible.
- Please have a decent mic! This is a must, so we can make sure the audio sounds clean.
- Make sure you have a Discord! This is the main method we'll be using for communication.
- We will be using your voice publicly for this project. Please keep this in mind, and audition only if you're completely okay with that.

A well known and well regarded biologist, Mr. Nogami has been studying the creatures seeming to replace humanity in a ruined future for a few years now. The man is soft-spoken, but calling him shy would be a bit of mistake. While he isn't exactly a wordsmith on his own merit, he isn't afraid to share his findings and feelings, even if he isn't always the best person to ask for the latter.
While he may not be in his prime, this scientist is also a skilled sniper, able to shift into a silent killer whenever the going gets tough. Is there more to this man? It's unclear, but he certainly isn't one to show his whole hand.
Ah... fascinating. I should write this down, this could lead to a breakthrough! [Calm, but clearly excited about the prospect of a successful discovery]
This is the only option we have left, you and I both know this. Please be patient. [Matter-of-fact, a little frustrated but holding it back well]
We never can guarantee anything, especially not in times like these. But it's up to us to try. If we don't, who will? [Trying to be motivational, a little awkward and unused to being in this position]
Shizuku is a high school student studying in Tokyo, working towards a writing degree in her future. Because of some events in her life, though, she's recently started looking into music. There's not much extraordinary about Shizuku, she's simply good at what she does, and has one hell of a work ethic.
She's a little shy, definitely a bit anxious at times, and doesn't work well under intense pressure, but a strong heart lies under it all. Even if she's afraid, and it shows, she'll do her best to keep her chin up
Um... hello! My name is Shizuku. It's a pleasure to meet you. [A bit nervous, but trying to make a good impression]
Ever since I met Seiji back home, his music has always kind of... inspired me. And eventually, I wanted to try a different kind of writing, you know? I wanted to... find what inspired him so much. [Trying to find the right words to say what she wants to say, all the while remembering fond memories]
I... won't let you down! I'll do everything I can t-to help, even if it isn't much! [Determined, despite her anxieties. Wanting very much to help despite her limitations]
A singer with a bit of a sharp tongue, Cherry's motto is to not take shit, and to do what she wants no matter who stands in her way. She has a habit of acting a bit as the big sister of her group, taking care of them while protecting them when they need it. Despite her apparent tenderness towards her friends, though, her words often bite.
Because of her past, she's often a bit closed off, covering this up with a witty, even occasionally flirtatious persona befitting her stardom as the lead singer of Studio Killers, even if her tone's often a bit dry.
Let's just get this over with. Staring at Mr. Corporate Scum over there is getting me angry enough as is. [Snarky, a bit annoyed, trying to move things along faster]
Hey, cool it a bit. We'll get through this, so shut up and listen a minute. [Trying to make her point clear, cool and collected]
At least I'll be able to hit a few more bars before we have to go. [Satisfied with herself, looking forward to future... events]
The beautiful and broken lead singer of Gorillaz, 2D (also known as Stuart Pot) is a man of many talents. Even if intelligence isn't one of them, there's more than enough to make up for it. From a kind demeanor that occasionally lands him into trouble, to a voice that anyone can enjoy, he's perfect for the spot he's in.
Even if he isn't really the leader of the thing, and for good reason.
I never really thought about anything as far as I can remember. [Calm, mildly contemplative]
Ah, just a peppermint tea for me... [Tired, a bit nauseated]
I took a wrong turn, and ended up in the wrong book, and- and... I tried to do six months, a six month retreat, but I talked- talked too much, and got kicked out. [Explaining, recalling a memory]
