OVERVIEW
Aya is a crow Tengu, and the central character of Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, as the writer of the "Bunbunmaru Newspaper". As a tengu, she's one of the fastest yokai in Gensokyo, and very dedicated to getting the scoop. However, while she claims she sticks only to the truth, many of the readers claim her stories contain falsehoods.

Since the offender's words are completely illogical nonsense which any normal person would have difficulty understanding, I've taken the liberty of interpreting them such a way that will make things clearer. The offender's excuse can be explained as followed.
[An piece of an article from her newspaper, she's taken slight annoyance due to the person she's interviewing not giving her the straight truth. Imagine in her articles, she's like a narrator with personality.]
The winner is judged by the number of copies printed. It’s an annual tradition! I always lose, so this year, I have to win… So, I published the extra to promote the newspaper! An extra is a special issue that makes people read a newspaper they normally wouldn’t read, right?
[After being questioned as to why she published the extra in the first place, there's definitely some determination and certainty to her tone.]
Reimu is a human Shrine Maiden, and the central character of the Touhou games. Though here she takes a backseat to Aya! Even though her job is to protect the land of Gensokyo from incident, she tends to be very laid-back in her day to day life, and is pretty straightforward. Still, when it comes down to it, she will do what she has to in order to solve an incident, even if it means fighting people who have nothing to do with it along the way.
There aren't many evil spirits about during the day, so I'm trying my luck at night... But it's dark out, and I'm not sure where to go. Still... It's so romantic out behind the shrine at night.
[Reimu went out to see if there were any yokai to fight, and is not having much luck, talking to herself. However, she is a bit carefree in this moment due to the scenery.]
What did you say?! My shrine's offertory box only collects leaves, why does that fake one get money?! And why hasn't anyone complained about this?! This could affect the shrine's reputation!
[A scammer is going around with a donation box, saying it's for the shrine, and Reimu of course receives none of it. On top of that, she never receives donations as-is, so she is rather peeved off.]
What? You want to know why I'm in a bad mood even with this party going on? It's because it's a PARTY. Everyone makes a huge mess, then they go home when they're all tired out without even thinking of helping to clean up.
[Being interviewed by Aya while a party at her shrine goes on, Reimu is quite annoyed with the fact that she's going to have to be the one to clean it all up in the end.]
Marisa is the other usual main character of Touhou, alongside Reimu. A human magician with a lot of spunk, she tends to be very informal, and straightforward. She has also a bit of a habit of stealing things, claiming that she's "borrowing" them and will "return them when she's done with them".
Me, a burglar? That's just mean. Just 'cause I snuck in doesn't mean I stole anything. My life is way shorter than yours anyway, so can't you just take everything back after I kick the bucket? I'm just borrowing until then. It should be good for the stuff I'm taking that way, too.
[Being questioned on items she stole, which she doesn't exactly deny at all. Laid back about the situation.]
Her takin' whatever she wants gets on my nerves. She said she'd give it back later, but she was obviously lying!

Ah, guess that does sound like me, all right. You don't really see many workin' cameras in Gensokyo... Hey, wait a minute! You wrote an article about me without askin' permission, and you didn't tell me about it for two years!?
[At first, responding to Aya about how Marisa requested an article about herself, but completely forgot until now. Then, she's hit with the realization that this article has been around for 2 years and she had no clue.]
Sakuya Izayoi is a human with the ability to manipulate time, and the head maid at the Scarlet Devil Mansion. With her mistress and other mansion residents, she tends to be more formal and a tad elegant. Overall though, she's a bit easygoing!
These items are for a spell to go to the moon. The mistress insisted that she wanted to go there before dawn, so I gathered the materials required for it. I would have returned everything when the sun rose.
[Being asked as to why she stole certain items, she's rather straightforward in her answer.]
Ahhhhh, killing the small fry is so pointless! I wish the one pulling the strings would show up already.

Remilia Scarlet is a vampire, and the mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Though she tries to put on a charismatic and mysterious front, at her core she is pretty childish. Easily bored, she likes to find excitement however she can and has a playful nature.
Make no mistake, it's old Japanese. As proof that the meteorite's descent was artificial, look at this meteorite fragment right here. It's covered in magical runes, see?

An angel, they say. Not that I particularly mind being called that.
[Usually referred to as the Scarlet Devil, having the mist she released during one big incident being compared to 'angel wings' amuses her.]
Patchouli is a magician, and the resident bookworm of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She spends all her time in the mansion's library because of this. She's a bit sickly, with anemia and asthma, making her magic abilities a bit herder to use. Generally, she can be rather quiet, but still has a straightforward personality.
Remi's mist is closer to high-density jewels than regular water droplets, so it bends light more than water droplets can. That's why Remi's is called "witching mist". As the wavelength of the refracted light drops past scarlet, it becomes completely diffused and most of the light is absorbed by the mist. That's why only the straightest scarlet waves remain and the rainbow appears to be scarlet-colored.
[Popping in on Remilia's interview, she relays information that Remilia herself wasn't quite sure on.]
Out of season? What are you saying? Is there a specific season for Setsubun? The word itself means "the interval between seasons" so this time between spring and summer seems perfectly suitable.

Eirin Yagokoro is a Lunarian, someone from the moon, and the nurse of Princess Kaguya. Devoted to her princess and mysterious in past, she is still a rather pleasant person and generally gets along with others. However, due to her high intelligence she can come across as a big high and mighty at times. She does have a bit of a hard time understanding the culture of Earth.
So that's what you meant. Well then, for you, please give the Nightmare Type a try. It's so fast it might even be enjoyable!

See, in Gensokyo, everyone are either yokai or demons or ghosts or such, so they're all fit and robust. There isn't really much of a demand for medicine for physical illnesses. These kind of beings are comprised mostly of spirit. Therefore, if they need any sort of care it, would be for their mentality. The origin of the dream medicine was sparked by this realization.
[Releasing a medicine to help the dreams of Yokai, she explains her reasoning in doing so.]
Alice is a magician and doll maker, residing in the Forest of Magic. A bit of a loner, she prefers to stay indoors and work on her dolls, though she is hospitable and kind to visitors. But she does seem to have a bit of a hostile side to her. Since she used to be a human, she gets along really well with them generally.
If you pierce the effigy with a nail, the subject will feel pain as well. If I can understand this dynamic better, I believe I can come a step closer to my goal of creating an independently moving doll. That's why I'm creating these straw figures. Oh, it's not like I hold a grudge against anyone, honestly.

I'm sure I've seen something like that, a long time ago. An independently moving and thinking doll! I've poured my soul into making one, but I've never been successful. I mean, it's easy enough to make a doll that will do something if I command it to, but beyond that... there's just so much more I need to learn!

Yukari is an incredibly mysterious and powerful yokai, considered probably THE most powerful yokai in the entire series. Incredibly smart and skillful, she still has a bit of a lazy side to her, sleeping a lot. She's also rather playful and likes to tease people, and tends to solve things by manipulating others into doing it for her. But when all is said and done, she knows very much and has plenty of wisdom.
Seeing things from only one point of view shows that you lack imagination and analytical skills. Even if the answer is right before your eyes, you will overlook it. That is because you are only looking at the back side of the answer. But that sort of quality is well-suited for a reporter.
[Being questioned on the harsh treatment of her Shikigami, Ran, Yukari tries to explain to Aya that she's seeing things too one-dimensionally. However, since this is Yukari it's not a scolding so much as stating things as sort of a matter-of-fact.]

Yuyuko is a ghost, and the head of Hakugyoukurou in the Netherworld. She can come off as a bit of an airhead, as she's very consistently playful and says bizarre things at times. But she's certainly very charming, and knows more than she tends to lead on, with a more serious side appearing sometimes.
You wish to know what we are doing? As you can see, we're returning Gensokyo its spring. When we scatter these petals around, they should bloom right before your eyes.

Youmu is a half-human, half-ghost, and a servant of Yuyuko's. A gardener and skilled with her swords, she's to the point, but a bit naive and easy to boss around because of that. Ironically, though she's half-dead, she's scared of things like ghost stories and creepy things.
I don't know what you're trying to say, but it has definitely become easier to travel between this world and the Netherworld. These days, living humans and yokai come to the Netherworld without even thinking about it, and the dead come to this world, too.
[Aya basically commented that people who don't generally go to the netherworld are going more and more these days, and Youmu responds as such.]

Ran is Yukari's Shikigami, a kitsune. As such, she mainly follows Yukari's orders when needed, though because of her master's lazy nature, she has a lot of free-time. Highly intelligent, she usually uses this free-time to solve mathematical equations for fun. She has her own Shikigami, Chen.
The Sanzu River is not a normal river, but one that carries away the past. This is why the actual length is different from the observed length. It is necessary to know the histories of the deceased to calculate that distance. The breadth of the river, depending on the person, can take either a mere instant to cross or an practically interminable amount of time.
[Explaining how she was able to calculate the width of a certain river, that technically shouldn't be able to be calculated at all.]
I try to calculate things like how many particles it would take to blanket Gensokyo with mist or how long it would take to reach the North Star.

Chen is a Bakeneko, and Ran's shikigami. Still at a low level of power, she's pretty childish and sometimes has to be controlled by Ran using catnip.

A fairy with the ability to manipulate cold, she is strong among her species. Bold and brash (haha) is the best way to describe her, she's always getting into some trouble. She's childish and hard-headed, and not the sharpest!

Because of her lack of contact with others, she can have a hard time communicating clearly, though she generally is polite despite that. Her relationship with her sister seems to be good, though she likes to poke fun at her.

A rabbit from the moon, and a refugee of war, taking residence in Eintei now. She is rather calm and balanced herself, being one of the more responsible parties in Eintei and Gensokyo as a whole.

A playful little rabbit from the Earth, Tewi is also a resident of Eintei. Though her ability allows her to grant people luck, she can be quite the trickster and scammer.

They're ordinary, helpless rabbits. Humans are gluttonous pigs who'll eat anything, so I guess it's simply unavoidable that a few will get eaten. If they want humans to stop eating them, they'll have to look a lot more charming. You can't eat something cute, right?

A human who became immortal due to drinking the Hourai Elixir. She's quite the loner who lives in the Bamboo Forest, taking enjoyment in fighting Kaguya Houraisan to the death on the daily. She doesn't like to give out lots of details about herself to others, but guides people lost in the bamboo forest out. A bit tomboyish too.
There was never any fire then. There's not a single trace of one in the bamboo forest, so you couldn't have seen anything. It was just a peaceful, uneventful day. That's all there is to it.

A schoolteacher and the protecter of the human village, Keine is a half-human, half-yokai (hakutaku). She's polite and perhaps a bit uptight due to her position, but generally a friendly individual. When needed though, she can be fierce in order to protect others.
While that may be true, I doubt I'd be able to hold normal lessons like that... I don't want to just draw humans together; I want to teach them. Adding yokai would just defeat that purpose, wouldn't it?

Even if many people now think of yokai as they used to be, these memories can fade in 20 years when the next generation comes about. The yokai are no longer rivals. Despite this, the humans have arbitrarily decided to do away with them. Humans should not be searching for past history, but passing history down the generational line instead. That's much more important.

Mystia is a Night Sparrow, who spends her time causing night blindness in humans for fun. She is a big arrogant and self-centered, and LOVES to sing.
It doesn't make any sense to me why most night stands serve yakitori. I think there are other foods that are twice as delicious. That 'twice' also goes for sales. So, I was thinking about how a lot of customers around here are night-blind, although that's mostly because of me.

The gatekeeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she's a yokai from China and a martial arts master. That being said though, she does have a tendency to be laid back and speak with bypassers during her duties. She's generally pretty friendly, and the gardener of the mansion as well.
Yes, that's the main problem here, but nobody will touch it. They all just say how beautiful or interesting it is. I'm the only one losing sleep over it, since I'm the gardener here.

Is it really a crop circle? It doesn't really look like one to me... I was so scared at first because I thought she'd get mad again. I'm in charge of taking care of the garden, after all. Even if she told me to change it back, I don't have the slightest idea how to do that, or how it happened, so I'm so glad the mistress likes it.

An oni, she has incredible strength and fighting spirit! Loving to drink, she is rather jolly in nature and a bit childish. Since she's an oni, she's quite honest (though perhaps not quite as much as other oni). That all being said though, she is perceptive and a bit critical. Even though she seems to drink non-stop, she's still quite coherent when she does.
The moon? Ah, that's just a bit of a threat. Everyone looked like they were havin' so much fun, saying 'oni, stay outside' over and over again, so I thought I'd give 'em a little warnin'. Sure surprised the fire out of ya, didn't it?

A yuki-onna with a bit of a cold (fittingly) personality. She doesn't like humans in the least, preferring to scare them off and freeze them. She can be seen as having a bit of a superiority complex, stating that she doesn't like being lumped in with weak Yokai like a certain ice fairy.
Spring-summoning? I don't know what that is, but it was a human who attacked me, despite their fear of yokai. I was just flying around, enjoying the long winter. Blizzards are an uncommon occurrence, so you'd think they would be more eager to enjoy it.

The audience loves the surprise of not knowing what's going to happen. If they knew the reason, then the move wouldn't be a surprise, it'd be an evacuation. They would surely object.

Intuition? There seems to be a misunderstanding. I meant the tension in my violin's bow string. If it slackens, then the pitch decreases. The reverberations change, too. That's how I figured it out so soon.

There's no way sounds that don't have any effect on the spirit are worthwhile! If they don't stir the heart, I couldn't care less. My sounds are emotional sounds, and the spinning of my trumpet is like an amplifier for those emotions.

Even though the three of us play violin, trumpet, and keyboard, the sound of each instrument has a different role. With my older sister's gentle songs, the melancholic sounds calm the listener's mood. My intense songs can transform feelings, and my chaotic noise uplifts the listener's mood. Lyrica brings those two ends together into an ear-achingly good song with the sounds of illusion.

The youngest of the three poltergeist sisters, The Prismrivers. She's sly and something of a smart-alack, playing the keyboard.

A bug yokai who enjoys bothering humans who thinks insects are worthless. She has a bit of a temper on her, especially when insects are involved. But she has a creative side to her too, doing things like directing concerts with her insect friends for fun.
Let me get a word in! Although I don't have much positive to say, especially with the number of bugs decreasing over the last few years…

They think even fireflies and pine crickets are just for looking at. When did humans start thinking they are so high and mighty? But if we harm humans, they might exterminate us... That's why if we can prove that we are useful in their lives, I think our social status would improve.

A yokai of darkness. She's childish and and simple-minded, and likes to just fly around aimlessly most of the time. While she does target humans sometimes, she can be lazy about it, saying it can be too much work to chase them down.
Because the sunlight is all hot in the summer and I don't like it. This way I'm out of the sunlight and I can beat the heat. If I'm surrounded by darkness, it's always a nice summery night, you know?

A half-human half-yokai who owns a curiosity shop. He has a bit of a difficult personality and doesn't like to leave his shop, resulting in him not communicating with others often.
Aren't all luxury goods nonsensical to begin with? But if it weren't for people who could appreciate them, there wouldn't be any interesting people. People that appreciate luxury goods like liquor, tea, coffee, tobacco, and the like are always seen as very interesting people.

However, this nargile would make a splendid decoration. It looks like a vase but is not a vase, looks like a light stand but is not a light stand; its incongruous form is magnificent. I highly doubt I will ever come across something like this ever again. You will definitely regret it if you don't buy it now. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
