The Wrong Radio Show - 1st Public Casting Call

The Wrong Radio Show - 1st Public Casting Call

Project Overview

The Wrong Radio Show is a live-streamed and recorded improv radio drama inspired by the Golden Age of Radio (think Escape, Suspense, The Shadow). Each show is narrated and guided through story beats while our ensemble performs in-character. Audience members participate through chat and paid suggestions, creating a constantly evolving world of comedy, drama, and surprise. Episodes are livestreamed on Twitch, then released as podcasts and videos for wider audiences.

The show blends:

  • Variety & Structure → recurring mini-shows (detective drama, regency romance, sci-fi pulp, comedy ads, etc.)

  • Improv Chaos → live audience prompts, including paid story twists

  • Production Polish → foley, narrator guidance, and ensemble training keep the story sharp

Our goal: to build a creative co-op ensemble where performers share in the show’s success.

Pay Structure

Although this show has no starting budget and will be unpaid to start, the intent is to transition this project into a profit share as the show builds community, sponsors and donors.

  • The profit make-up will be as follows:

    • 80% goes directly to ensemble/crew members

20% goes into production reserves (equipment, ads, software, etc.)

    • Payments are distributed twice per month (like a traditional paycheck).

    • Every ensemble member shares equally in earnings from each show they perform in.

While early shows are unlikely to pull much profit, our long-term goal is a sustainable co-op model where everyone benefits as the audience grows.

Code of Conduct

We are building a community-driven project where inclusivity, creativity, and respect are non-negotiable. All members of The Wrong Radio Show ensemble are expected to:

  • Treat fellow cast, crew, and audience members with respect and professionalism.

  • Help foster a safe, inclusive environment — no hate speech, harassment, or discrimination.

  • Maintain open collaboration: this project runs like a co-op, and your input matters.

  • Respect audience interaction guidelines: suggestions are fun, but performer safety and comfort always come first.

  • Uphold show quality: if you’re in the episode, you’re expected to bring your best.

Expectations of Ensemble Members

  • Rehearsals: Minimum of 1-2 practices per week, led by the narrator, including warmups and scenario runs.

  • Reliability: Missing rehearsals without communication will result in being placed on “inactive” status until attendance improves.

  • Performance: Willingness to improvise, stay in character, and adapt to live changes.

  • Tech Requirements: A clear mic, stable internet, and a quiet recording space.

  • Co-op Spirit: This is a shared creative venture — ideas, feedback, and initiative are welcome.

Audition Process

  1. Submit a pre-recorded audition (script provided in the listing).

  2. Selected applicants will be invited to a live audition session over Discord/Twitch, to test improv and live-pressure performance.

  3. Finalists may be considered for core ensemble roles or auxiliary ensemble roles (fill-in and special episodes).
