The Stuff Of Legend Book 1: The Dark

The Stuff Of Legend Book 1: The Dark

Project Overview

In 1944 Brooklyn, band of toys goes on a journey into the Dark realm to rescue a young boy, who is their owner, from the infamous Boogeyman. In the Dark Realm,  they change, from toys to creatures of flesh and blood.  As they venture into the Dark, they battle the Boogeyman's forces, composed mostly of bitter, lost toys, fallen under the fearful powers of their Dark master.

The Stuff Of Legend is a comic by Mike Raicht and Brian Smith that I have enjoyed a lot since finding. It's highly under rated and I have yet to see a comic dub of it, so I want to make it happen. There are a few mildly adult things in this  such as gore, sexism, and mild racism

                                          *****Rules *****

1. Please be invested and be able to show emotion.  I hope to have this comic be an ongoing thing if possible and most characters are reoccurring

2. Have a good mic. with no background noise.

3. There are a few mildly adult things in this comic, so I would prefer my actors to be 16+

4. If cast, please make sure to provide me with a way to contact you. Discord is preferred

NOTE: I own nothing. This is a fan project

Max is The Boy's Teddy bear. He tends to be angry a lot, mostly as he feels he failed The Boy and is determined to get him back

Voice type: low gravelly

  • No Percy, I'm not. He was so strong. I thought I could... I just couldn't. I'm sorry.

  • (roar optional) Rawr! Release them, or I'll disarm your men at their shoulders!

  • I'll break Jester out myself and then we'll... *growls*

Role assigned to: J_E_Utt

Jester is The Boy's Jack-In-A-box. He is almost always in a good mood, very spunky and confident.  He loves the rush of battle.

Voice type: cheery middle range. British accent preferred, but not necessary to land role

  • Reinforcements? Splendid. More battle awaits

  • I ask you this: Have any of you ever won this game? No?

  • (Flirty) You really should stay back, M'lady. This fighting does not become one as gloriously beautiful as yourself

Harmony is a metal angel. She is very caring and motherly, playing the peacekeeper amongst the team. Although she is very kind and soft spoken,  she does know how to lay down the law when need be.

Voice type: soft, gentle voice. Think a mix between Disney princess and motherly

( note: I might end up voicing her)

  • I will look after you. It will be alright, Percy

  • That is ENOUGH! From all of you, but especially you, Maxwell. Scout fought by your side valiantly. We are in this together. Act like it.

  • Scout did his best to warn us, but the monster that grabbed him was far too swift.

Role assigned to: Mac Fanko

Percy is The Boy's piggy bank. He is very clever, but also very nervous as he is actually a double agent

Voice type: a bit nasally medium to deeper voice that can be nervous one moment  and biting sarcastic the next.

  • And here we sit shivering...lost! We should return home, now!

  • I'm more interested in the... consequences for those who defy the Boogeyman. I mean do not all toys serve him here?

  • For me? This is... wonderful.

Princess was one of The Boy's Native American figurines. She doesn't talk much, but asserts her dominance with great patience and strength.  She is wise and can handle herself in a fight

  • Mattape, Gentle Animal. All will be put right.

  • We have nothing. You took everything when we arrived.

  • Hello, Jester. You finally escaped.

Quackers is the Boy's pull along wooden duck. As such, he is very  energetic and juvenile. He doesn't really seem to grasp how serious the situation is, but wants to help none the less.

Voice type:  higher young teen/child. Think your typical loud middle school boy, but quackier.

NOTE: can be voiced by a male or female actor

  • Yes, sir! Besides, you're too fat to fly!

  • what was that racket?! Where's Maxwell? Are we under attack?!

  • (drunk) Hear hear! *Hiccups* we agree a hunnerd pershent,  your mayorness.  Ain't that right Max ol' pal?

Colonel is one of the Boy's toy soldiers. He is brave and takes his job very seriously. He cares deeply for his team as well as the Boy and will do what it takes to keep them safe.

Voice type: medium low. Think your stereotypical American soldier boy

Note: Only appears in the first few chapters

  • We've got them on the run, but I don't expect they'll be too long in getting reinforcements.

  • Your world or his, I'm still a soldier. I just want what you've taken. Otherwise, I'll have to do to you what I have trained my whole life for.

  • I'm proud of all of you. All right then. Let's move out.

The Boogieman is the main monster who runs the darkness. He has taken the boy, but no one is sure of his reasons. He is sarcastic, tricky, and likes to play with his prey. He is not know for his patience.

Voice type: just sinister, akin to that of Laughing Jack from Creepypasta or Lunatic from Tiger and Bunny

  • ( sarcastic) Now let me guess... CLEARLY the colonel sent a brave soul such as yourself back for reinforcements?

  • That's right. I'm the Boogeyman. And you are the one I need, Percy.

  • (Enraged) Hurt is all there is. That, I can absolutely guarantee.

Role assigned to: Will Marcil

Mayor presides over the town of Hopscotch, a town that is all one giant game.  He works for the Boogeyman. He is a very jovial, condescending, and at times flirtatious old man.

Voice type: middle range. I imagine his voice to be similar to Mr. Hariman from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends

NOTE: he is a reoccurring character and will become more important later in the series

  • But first, a kiss goodnight, my sweet. Your time here will surely be more pleasant than living on the barren outskirts of the jungle with your heathen tribe.

  • Gather around citizens for the drama! The excitement! Hopscotch's grandest game!

  • Gah! How dare you shoot the mayor! You will be broken into bits and fed to -
