The Powers That Be
Project Overview
Hello there, thank you for stopping to look at my casting call. This is another series of mine called 'The Powers That Be' it is a series that is supposed to reflect on society and the injustice of wealth and social status. This is set in a super hero like world where people can buy powers and magic but have to pay for it like a phone bill or water bill. The series follows four unlikely of friends, all different parts of the social scale. as well as a presidential election going on and there is talk about the candidates that is very concerning.
There is Austin who is the most wealthiest boy in the city but is grumpy about it because he wants one thing money cannot buy, true friends.
Another friend is Oscar, he is upper middle class but is regarded as not special enough to fit in because he isn't of higher class.
Another friend is Sakura, immigrated from japan and has been in the US for over a year, her parents do pay the power bill but mostly for the jobs they work, she doesn't mind not having powers.
The last friend is Nickolas, whos family is dirt poor and cannot buy powers, except! The month the series takes place is the month his parents managed to scrounge enough money together to pay for one month of supernatural abilities for their son, as a birthday present to give him something they could never have.
together these friends grow and bond and teach each other new experiences.

Austin is a bit sarcastic and moody because he is treated with such a high pedestal that people only like him for his money and status, he doesn't have anyone he can truly call a friend, even though he does tend to be snarky and sharp tongued, he does have more emotions than that, the voice I'm looking for is teenager but cool, but not arrogant, if that makes sense
(narrating) this is the city of polaris metro, this is where one of the major sources of magic
and powers can be found. going back to the bill thing, you are able to pay for
those abilities, but just like with any other payment, if you dont pay it on time
then the government will shut it off (a business man falls) there goes another one. That's the second time this morning and its not even 10:00 yetwould having my mask on make any difference? everyone knows who i am
so there is no need to put it on.(thinking to himself and surprised) [unbelievable! how are these two so calm!? did they plan this or something!? There is no way anyone could be this normal around me!] (casual and happy) Im doing good, I helped sakura this morning because some minotaur stole her powers
she has an accent so try to sound foreign but not too much and try to add emotion. she is calm and cheerful but can defend herself in any fight, and she doesn't like anime, she's more of an American romantic drama girl

(after she parts ways with Austin she runs to a supply closet and freaks out) OH MY GOODNESS! I CANNOT BELIEVE I JUST SPOKE TO AUSTIN! the most richest boy in the city and he agreed to join us for lunch!!
it is true, even though I do have powers to use, I do not have the ability to use it as freely like upper class citizens do, my family struggles to keep paying for the power bill, I honestly wouldn't mind not having them, but it is my parents who need them the most for the jobs they work.
he is pretty normal for the most part and pretty level headed, mostly from helping with the police force his dad dad is part of. I need a black voice actor for this one to get the right tone, but I need modesty for him.
the truth as to why the class gets separated like that isn't to train each at different
scholastic levels..(try to be casual, but towards the end try to be a bit annoyed before the "OH" part) I'm actually upper middle class and my parents pay the power bill pretty easily, but I don't have a big enough status to fit in with the higher snobs...oh! uh...sorry, no offence.
(exited after hearing some great news) I cant believe what a huge honor this is! he actually is casually letting commoners like us hang out with him!
happy, optimistic, and has a go lucky attitude, he may be poor but he always looks on the bright side, his voice is kind of high pitched but not too high pitched as he is still a teenager. (if that makes sense?)

(starting off sounding rushed) im here you guys! (huff) sorry for being late, I forgot my lunch and my mom had to use her lunch break to bring it here.
you wouldn't believe it, but I actually do have powers! (the others are shocked) its true, this morning my parents said they were able to pay the power bill for one month only for me! and now throughout this month I can use whatever powers I want! But im honestly a little scared, its a whole new feeling and i dont even know how to begin using them.
dont worry, things will work out, Austin will defeat these limo attackers in no time.
a strong and shining beacon of hope for all, also the richest and most well known hero in the city, but he isnt snobby or rude or discredit anyone lower than him, he tries to look out for his son and be the best father he can be, either go for superman sounding voice or All Might from MHA/BNHA, or try to be big and great
hello there dear son! you seem to be on patrol! good man! but wait, why
dont you have your mask on!?(stops a school bully from running away with stolen powers and the bully asks isnt he not supposed to cause harm to civilians) not cause too severe of harm, but with how high up i am on status, I am given leeway. (after shaking the bully) ready to hand her powers back? or would you like to experience what broken arms feel like?
hyper charge er i mean, Austin, you will report to me if anything else bad
happens here wont you? (yes father) also (a bit of a dramatic pause) (try to be cute) I made a lunch for you!
