The Performers is a dark comedy fiction podcast regarding the acts and whims of cockamamie superhumans inspired by various circus-related traditions; tightrope walking on air, shooting pressurized cannonball blasts, you name it.
The story takes place in a 9-year-quarantined trio of states along the United States' west coast, following the appearance of the aforementioned supers dubbed Circa (Sur-kuh). Highways have been sectioned off by a border, the coast guard are having a run for their money, effectively dividing the states from the rest of the world. To capture and contain them, the local police have been upgraded into the Perform Free Patrol (PFP), and notorious gangs have grown notably stronger.
The show centers around Mike Miller, a 9-to-5 office drone who lives an underwhelming life of mediocre paper-pushing until a series of events leads to him falling into a mix of gangs, politics, and rampaging psychopaths. Among these threats, which he must survive no matter the cost, Mike challenges the world against all odds in order to return to a subjectively perfect life of normalcy.
As of right now our five main character roles are occupied, and these roles are the ones necessary for our Pilot Episode and the follow-up.
It should also be mentioned that all recruited members of the show are to be invited onto a Discord server, which will be used for live sessions to record, and general announcements for new scripts or line changes.
Dozens of roles are created each episode, extras and mains, so even if your audition isn't chosen here, there's always a chance to be highlighted for later and greater characters! Do your best and I hope to see you perform for The Performers!

After careful examination and planning, I am free to announce that the physician will have a greater importance to the story and therefore will now be a named role. Introducing - Locke Hobber!
Officer of the Perform Free Patrol and best friend of William Wells; Eugene Myxez (Mix-eez) is a tremendously laidback staple of modern police life in the quarantined states. His only concerns are having fun amongst his colleagues and day-to-day talks with Will (William's designated nickname).
A recurring side character with a strange tendency to always carry at least two flashlights.
(mocking; shift to serious) Why yes, Mr. Tough & Sensitive. Of course I do.
(inquisitive disbelief) Of course the guy cooks, he always cooks, he’s a great cook! I just can’t believe **you** don’t window-browse.
(light sarcastic mutter) Ahhh what a riot.
The gruff and loud chief of the Perform Free Patrol. He gives the orders, gives out cases, and files the reports. Whatever he says goes, and disobedience is always met with his firm wrath. Chief Dandy, despite his angry front, otherwise holds a deep respect for his men.
A recurring side character who respects William and often argues with Eugene for being laidback.
(commanding) Shut your mouth, Myxez, and get back to work! Detective Wells, my office, now.
(explaining) The only intel we can gather on Gudmundur is that he worked against Yarvey, seemingly alongside Amara, aside from that he’s a ghost.
(fast; stern) It’s my order! Copy, Detective?
An imprisoned gang member, arrested by William Wells, during a set-up in the auto lot. Yarvey is a casual person, either from being cocky of his abilities and affiliates or a simple perspective on life. From his easy-going attitude, his voice often always stands between relaxed and tired.
A side character who has a strong distaste towards Gudmundur for being involved behind his arrest.
(calmly shouting) Heyyy, creepy dude, you here? (calling noises - clicks, whistles, etc) C’monnn, man, I have jeans on, it’s hot, and this place smells like burnt oil.
(casual; tired) Jump me if you’re gonna jump me, one way or the other I’ll be outta here... (smug) ...and you’ll leave without a proper chance at a reading.
(shouting) What?! Damnit, man, get off me! Do you even know who I work for?!
A secretive character who makes contact with Gudmundur (Guud-muhn-der) and Amara (Uh-mar-uh); the one who gives the orders and mostly prefers to keep to himself. Tony's voice is particularly deep, with a city accent, and prone to swap between calm and angry within seconds.
He lives to advocate for the lives of Circa across the quarantined states, even if it means eliminating those who push against his beliefs. The strength of which is not easily contested.
A recurring antagonist for The Performers whose heart cannot easily keep up to his anger, as such he requires the help of The Physician to keep him stable.
(calm; slight aggression) I watch over all of my boys, Gudmundur. Who didja think sent Placard and Pollock?
(incremental anger) My informant flagged evidence being left behind - a fucking witness - and I’ve had just about enough of your fuck-ups for another century in this useless quarantine, so you’re gonna return to base before that naive detective-! (holds breath; coughing fit)
(slow sigh) Dammit...I’ll see ya in my quarters when ya return. And be sure to give my regards to the kid.
The right-hand medical professional beside Tony, constantly monitoring his condition, and holds a confoundingly loyal respect for him. He's also a great practitioner in terms of his skills as a Circa, in which Tony places his trust upon.
A recurring side character who always ensures to maintain a zen-like composure, that is unless someone directly or indirectly insults Tony.
(calming) You’re stressing your heart. Deep breaths, Tony.
(shout) How dare you disrespect Tony's orders!
(relieved) Ahh, how tranquil. The air is in high quality today.
A representative from the PFP, stands at the crime scene to prevent bystanders from intervening and allows other officials in. They're fairly casual towards others from the PFP and have a deep/middle voice.
A side character who interacts with William Wells outside of the Fantasca Bank after an 'incident'.
(formal) The chief already called, Wells, you’re free to examine the scene, the boys in forensics are still finishing up the bodies in the lobby. They’ll be headed to the server room after, so don’t take your time.
(shout) Hey, be cautious of the blood spatter too...it’s everywhere!
Orderly, decisive, but manageable. The Lieutenant arrives to the scene and assumes responsibility, yet does what it takes to get business done, and help move on.
A side character who talks to The Paramedic.
(sigh of disbelief) It’s a tragedy.
(dismissive) Whatever, send the okay already. I’ll get my men ready to notify their next of kin.
A low-voiced mild-mannered representative from the hospital who faces facts as they are. Due to their usual interaction with bodies and people of illness, The Paramedic is not easily swayed in emotion.
A side character who talks to The Lieutenant.
(flat) The coroners are waiting at Leto Hospital to receive the bodies.
(flat) Nowhere else will take this many, lieutenant, and the trucks are already here.
An innocuous yet self-involved woman, careless of others, and engaged to the Older Man role. She often asks her husband to be involved in matters which offend her.
A side character who sounds notably old and/or closer to British/Formal Posh.
(entitled) Excuse me, sir, I’ve been waiting in this line.
(dismissive) Hmph. Can’t they be done already?
A responsible old man with great leadership qualities, takes care of his wife - the Elderly Woman, and stands beside her whenever the situation bothers her. Notably old. If that was not clear.
(peaceful; calm) It’ll be fine, dear, let the matter resolve itself.
(commanding) Now, that’s no way to talk to a lady - let alone my wife!
A bleak and dutiful recruit under the order of Hans Coast. She follows any and all formal requests, capable of executing them without concern or questioning. Her attitude towards everyone, including those she considers as leaders/higher-ups, is mainly without expression. The only exceptions are when involving hunger or staying on task - to which she shows a shocking amount of care.
Angelina is a Circa with the ability "Concessions", which allows her to manifest mass amounts of confectionaries and other common circus goods, such as popcorn, cotton candy, and caramel. Hans typically sends her to hunt other Circa.
A recurring main character with a shady/uncertain (she's edgy) past!
(uncertain) I’ve located the target. He looks...normal - abundantly so, are you certain this is the right man?
(warm; still monotone) No one deserves to starve, here.
(concerned; still calm) Someone's coming. What should I do, Hans?
A man of science and control, one of the many government officials shipped into the quarantined states, and also the most notable among them. Hans is strategically slow, methodical, and intuitive, preferring to go into situations with a plan and little to no brute force, as such he is somewhat uninvolved/monotone. However, in terms of people used in said plans, Hans cares little to none about their personal wellbeing or state.
A recurring antagonist character throughout the show. Hans has a neck stoma - an opening in his throat, due to his condition, his voice is always raspy and short of breath. The shortness of breath requires Hans to take periodic breaks while talking. A filter/voice-mod of some variety may be required if unable to replicate this description.
(cold; exhausted) Of course. (sigh; stifled cough) Alls well. Remember the plan, keep an eye on them, and...try not to intervene.
(irritated) Don't be a nuisance. You're only a mutt - a dog and a clown! Stick with **my** program next time.
(dark; joyous) Finally. I can reach you!
A minor side character who works security for the Fantasca Bank. Gruff tone, preferably masculine, and fancies himself a figure of more authority than in actuality. Tends to believe in guilty until proven innocent. Not part of the recurring cast.
(casual) Uh-huh. Here’s what's gonna happen. Put your hands behind your back and we’ll wait right here until my pals from the station arrive.
(angry/struggling) Oh-ho! Now you’re resisting! Me and the boys in blue will have a blast talking about your sentence!
