The Pale Soul - Voice Testing
Project Overview
Galactic Harper Time 1778, The Eyeron Flotilla nears a large planetoid on the fringes of the Harper Galaxy for necessary repairs. The ship’s engine quietly revved throughout the capital ship of the Flotilla, creating the faintest of white noise. This ship, named the Blue Dot, is home to important cargo. Not only enough Cabr, the most efficient fuel source in the galaxy, to fund the entire fleet for a year if it’s all sold at the trade center they’re heading to after repairs, but an even more important person. A fifteen-year-old orphan named Lazuli Eralis, a Soulek. A species of horned humanoid beings who can manifest their souls into physical form to allow them to perform abilities dependent on that soul’s color, which is dictated by genes. While every soul color; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and gray, have their own importance and role in Soulek culture, Lazuli is among the rarest, as her soul is not like the rest. Lazuli soul is pale, white, a supposed reincarnated goddess said to appear only once every thousand years to protect the Soulek people and possibly beyond from a coming calamity.
I have been working on The Pale Soul for over half a decade. I would love to see how people take the characters within and give them soul and breath. While I do have preferences and lines given, this project is super open ended and frankly I just want to see the voice talent of this site and what they can do. This is practice and a chance to talk talent. Not a project that's getting off the ground any time soon. I still have a long way to go.While I have lines given and some have voice ideas, feel free to do a second audition with your own spin and lines! Have fun and explore these characters with me! It doesn't matter your skill level or how good you think you are, I am looking forward to any effort you put forward!
Also feel free to audition multiple times for one role! You got several kinds of takes you want for a character? Maybe you want to do one script read and one improv? Feel free to do whatever!
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.
Almost nothing is known of Lazuli’s past, even to her. The earliest documentation of Lazuli was when a young man who claimed to be her brother left her at the Eyeron Flotilla in the year 1782 GHT, making her only eight years old at the time. From the start she was ostracized by her peers and was taken into child care by the flotilla’s school counselor and biology teacher, Dr. Barret. This embittered her to the world and to people, especially boys, who loved to make fun of her for how underdeveloped she was for her age and how she had yet to start bloom despite puberty already beginning, and how often she was passed up by boys for more mature looking girls.
Lazuli is what's known in Soulek culture as the Pale Soul, a female Soulek born once every 100 years and is supposedly the reincarnation of their goddess known as The Lightess. Because of this Lazuli feels crushed by the weight of being the chosen one to people who reject her for sins she did not commit thanks to the previous Pale Soul.
Lazuli is bratty, short tempered, not a fan of boys, and extremely independent. Yet has a heart of gold beneath her prickly exterior. She can't help but help those in need and has a soft spot for those who look past her supposed divination to care for her for who she is, rather than as just a reincarnated goddess. She also is far shorter than the average Soulek for her age (being only 4'2) and very underdeveloped. This fact is a very sore spot for her.

[Annoyed] Well come on, then. I guess you're my new stalker.
[Sighing and Disappointed] Thanks for reminding me how far behind I am compared to all the other kids in that field. These horns aren’t gonna get any bigger I swear. Or me in any aspect.
[Smug] No, I think you got this, bodyguard. I’ll just lay here, I think.
Red is withdrawn, silent, and seemingly never blinks. He speaks in a blunt, direct, and soft voice. However it can harden and become assertive if he needs to. He’s a mystery to every kid in the classroom and Dr. Beret does not seem keen on revealing any details himself. Red is a massive boy scout, following rules to a tee and refusing to capitulate on anything. But this is a fragile mask as if need be he will gladly show his more ruthless and even vindictive side if those he cares about are threatened. Red despises bullying and has ire for those who refuse to believe everyone is to be treated equally. He is 16.
Red was assigned as the bodyguard to Lazuli during her time away from Dr. Beret's watch. While he's not keen on babysitting a brat, he does hope to make a good impression on the Lightess' reincarnation. One that doesn't seem to be going well as Lazuli and Red cannot stand each other. Red believing Lazuli is a brat and is unnecessarily aggressive to him, and Lazuli finding Red's closed off-ness and refusal to communicate to be insufferable.
Being a red soul, Red has an aggressive streak and behind his mask itches for a fight. However thanks to his mother figure, Sigrun, he's learned to temper it and only unleash it when needed.

[Dryly] Hello, Lazuli, I hope I can be of service.
[Still dry, but with a hint of pain] At least she doesn’t remember why she came to the Eyeron Flotilla. My reason’s still burned into my brain like it’s still happening.
[Still dry, but now with a hint of mocking] Fine by me, just know I’m not liable for anything that-” Red clears his throat “-happens, to get lost.
Sigrun is the battle master of the Eyeron Flotilla and Red’s mentor.
Sigrun in her prime held the prestigious title of King’s Fist, an elite soldier who answers only to the king and enacts his will. She may have also potentially been one of the most powerful and talented Soulek warriors who ever lived. In the top .1% at least. However, after an incident where she lost her arm and suffered a chronic back and soul injury, she’d resign from the role and retire to the Flotilla as its battle master, teaching the children of the Flotilla the importance and value of battle.
Sigrun is ruthless, even in her washed up state. She is not above injuring her students and threatening them. She believes if they cannot handle her venom and ruthlessness, they cannot stand a real fight. She often acts like a drill sergeant to her students, forcing them to give it their all ‘lest they go home with bruises and cuts, and homework to review what they failed. Sigrun hates weakness, refusing to take defeat as an answer, yet she’s also extremely empathetic, causing a conflict in her head that causes her to seem erratic. She’s also a perfectionist and tears herself apart in the pursuit of keeping her in her prime against the inevitable that she’s simply aging past that and needs to let the younger generation take over. What happened to cause her to lose her arm is unknown and she doesn’t answer it, but it clearly was a result of her perfectionism and refusal to give up on anything.
She and Dr. Beret together care for the unclaimed children of the Eyeron Flotilla as guardians and overseers. They used to be in a relationship, but broke it off mutually. Red shares her last name as she took him in after seeing his latent potential and unstable behavior as a young boy in order to temper his flame and make him a better person. As such she has a motherly bond with Red and dotes on him the only way that someone who knows the warlike culture of the red souls too well can.

[Serious] Stand up and try again!
[Confident] Scars prove you're strong enough to get back up, hon. Nobody's perfect. And no body's perfect, either.
[Small Chuckle Under Breath] Red you're bloodied and whimpering after just a sparring match. You do think you can go even with me in an all out battle?
Dr. Bethaias Beret is the washed up green soul who teaches Lazuli’s biology class.
Dr. Beret is self described as a mess. He has only one working eye, a prosthetic hand and foot, and a broken horn. His functioning eye’s color has long since dulled to an empty olive green. However don’t let his dead inside look fool you, Dr. Beret uses what little energy he has left to light up his classroom. He tries his hardest to make his class feel like home rather than school. He’s a warm soul who long since has let his prime slip by, so he tries to make everyone else’s lives better and feel accomplished knowing that he helped make them feel better.
Dr. Beret is extremely overqualified for his position. With an IQ of almost 300, Beret has been one of the most revolutionary men of his generation, mainly in coining the theory of nacre and proving luster truly exists (long story). After he turned to biology rather than theoretical physics, he found a potential missing link between the current mammalian and ancient avian Souleks, much the genetic network that determines why an ashen Soulek is so different from the normal breeds, and more.
Dr. Beret treats all his students like his own sons and daughters, as he has none to call his own. However above them all he sees Lazuli as his own, seeking to tutor and foster the young goddess into a mold that’ll break the cycle of madness perpetuated by her predecessor, Vale. Where Red needed a rough and sometimes dangerous mother-figure to imprint upon (Sigrun), when Lazuli came to the flotilla he felt Lazuli needed a more analytical mind rather than training.
For Dr. Beret's voice I'm looking for an enthusiastic old scientist or teacher. Examples like Stanford Pines, Walter White before his Heisenberg transformation, or Peter Capaldi's Dr. Who (12th doctor). However if you want to take your own spin I am all for your attempt!

[Enthusiastic] Around the time puberty begins, another phenomenon occurs, that of Bloom. This is when your soul first emerges into physical form. From there, use of it is natural, but training and orientation should be done as well to properly adjust to this new dimension of your life.
[Like a Teacher Talking to a Student] Lazuli, this is Red, your now personal bodyguard. He’ll start by helping you pack your things and bringing them with you to this hotel I’ve sent to your phone once we’ve landed. He’s only a year older than you, at sixteen. He’s a bit unwieldy but means well, please respect him. [Voice Becomes Stern] Same with you to her, Red.
[Happy and Hopeful] Those two are going to be something special for the Souleks. Good? Bad? Only time will tell.
Kiryu was always a trouble maker, the Blue Dot’s stereotypical bully with his clique in tow.
For nearly five years Kiryu has relentlessly bullied Lazuli for her stature, lack of physical maturity, lack of memories, being a pale soul yet not even able to use her soul on command, anything to get under her skin. He also shortly after formed a clique of her classmates specifically to bully her and be harder to punish collectively by their teacher, Dr. Beret.
Kiryu is sexist, classist, ablest, and more. He will find any reason to belittle someone and put them down. He also doesn’t fear turning this malice against his own clique, them being too scared to stand up to him. A far cry from his dandy and polite father; Kiryu is crass, rude, and entitled. He will get what he wants, when he wants, how he wants.

[Cocky] You'll do what, rice grain? You'll puff your cheeks at me? Guys! Look! The dwarf puffer is scared! [Poorly Imitating a Documentary Narrator Voice] When threatened, the Dwarf Lazuli puffs her cheeks to try and intimidate her foes. It never works.
[Stern But Clearly Loosing Control As He Goes] Shut it! You step to me it's final, you hear me?! I'm an idol! I'm the son of one of the most powerful men on this stinking planet! And I will not tolerate your stupid ideas like thinking you are anything but my helper!
[Cocky] Psh. Keep thinking that, moron. Maybe if you think hard enough, it'll become real! Maybe the only real thing in your life aside from how much you suck!
Nua is a blue ashen Soulek who grew up on the nomadic Eyeron Flotilla. Born to a widow, Nua was a societal reject who never got her way. Always ostracized for her bipolar disorder making her either shy and reserved, or aggressive and dominant at the flip of a coin.
This made her despise people and grew bitter of how she was treated. Nua would retreat to studies on the society of the Soulek homeworld, quickly becoming disgusted in how it was ran and who ruled. Nua promised herself that she’d do what she could to shift this for the better. Around this time she’d meet Lazuli Eralis, the Pale Soul and quickly became close friends as they each had no one else to confide in.
Unlike her diminutive friend, Nua is a busybody who always is finding something to do and someone to pester. When she’s not gossiping or studying, she’s working out or training her skill with a soul blade. Where Lazuli is cerebral and thinks things through, Nua is more physically strong. She loves sports and pushing her limits.
Nua and Lazuli share a general unsavory opinion of boys, finding them brutish and stupid. Yet time again and again they end up giggling amongst themselves about their newest crush. For all her distain for boys, she can’t help but fawn for the newest jock in gym. She also is an expert at the soul blade, finding it difficult to learn but rewarding to master. She also likes summoning her wings but usually isn’t allowed to because her wings are abnormally bigger than the average blue soul’s.
Nua has bipolar disorder. Where one second she’s super self reserved and shy, the next she’s boisterously challenging anyone to arm wrestle or sticking up for Lazuli. It all depends on her mood. This has caused many students to simply not want anything to do with her as due to her opposing personalities, no matter the type of friend she makes, they’ll always be the opposite of her other personality. Except for Lazuli who finds her shy half nice to talk to and be open with, and when she’s hyper fun to joke around and play with. Nua’s actually the very person who suggested to Lazuli to get into sewing.

[Hyper] Tell me tell me tell me! Who's the new crush hmmmmmmm?
[Reserved] Lazuli, could...could I talk about the soul blade I've been practicing? I know the soul's a touchy subject but I'm p-proud of mine. If that's okay...
[Dominant and Nearly Shouting] You come near my friend again and I will rip your world asunder, you hear me, Kiryu?!
Akoro is a classmate of Lazuli and the local ‘pretty girl’ of her class. Akoro has a strange mutation where despite being a blue soul, she has the gene of a purple soul that causes accelerated development thanks to her purple soul father.
Upon Akoro blooming she quickly used this to get what she wanted out of flustered boys and make other girls jealous of her. The only boy who saw through her facade was Kiryu, who finds girls gross and still believes in cooties. However he found use in her ability so he befriended her and she joined his clique. Akoro now uses her knowledge of boys and her looks to get what she wants and often uses it to cheat off of others, make others take blame for her actions, and more.
Akoro is flirtatious, envious, and bases way too much of herself on her looks. She always finds a way to manipulate boys to do what she wants and bullies girls to make them feel worse about themselves. When she’s talking to boys she finds any reason to flirt with them or compliment them to cloud their judgement and make them more suggestible to her whims. Meanwhile she emotionally backhands any girl she talks to as often as possible, especially if she thinks one is better than her in any regard.
Akoro always finds ways to come out on top and make others feel worthless in comparison, whether as sheep fawning for her or the girls emotionally tormented by her and her friends. She even disparages her girl friends, insulting their appearance and isolating them from any guys they may like so they stay loyal to her and her alone. She always needs to be on top.
She especially enjoys bullying Lazuli due to her seemingly having the opposite condition she does, always finding a way and reason to mock her diminutive stature and lack of features. This hit its worst where thanks to Curos, Akoro learned Lazuli had a crush on a boy named Slate. Akoro would then get with Slate purely to make Lazuli miserable.

[Mocking Being Friends] Laaazuuuliiii! Hoowwww aaarrreee youuuu? Still uswet I stwol your wittle cwush? [Loud Mocking] Too bad! That hunk of beef is *my* boyfriend how Hahahaha! [Feigning Feeling Bad] If only you grew up like everyone else. Maybe literally *anyone* under the sun that isn't a bipolar nutcase would like you. [Dismissive] Oh who am I kidding your baby size isn't the only thing keeping you down.
[Flirty] Heyyyy. Saw that grade on the report card. So I have a favor. My intelligence seems to not rival my beauty... so maybe in exchange for you sharing your notes, maybe... if I do well... we can go on a date.
[Spurned and Angry] Wh-!? H-!? You-! You DARE spurn ME? Do you know how many boys would KILL just for ME to even look at them?! You really are giving a chance to date ME up just so that little gremlin can whine in your ear more?! Fine then! Ugh! Men these days!
Curo is one of Lazuli’s classmates and part of the clique who bullies her.
Curo is an ashen Soulek who often participates in bullying Lazuli whenever Kiryu instigates it. She’s hyper, often over shares, and loves gossip. She has in the past gotten close to Lazuli just get dirt on her and make the bullying all the more effective. Curo cares a lot about her clique, unlike most others in it who find it as just simple camaraderie, Curo sees them as close friends-even family. She looks to Kiryu as an older brother figure and someone to aspire to, mostly because of his pampered origins.
Curo would gladly fight for her clique and finds any insult to one and insult to her, and her ego is too fragile to allow someone insulting her to slide. Though usually it’s more spent on harassing Lazuli and putting her down.

[Dismissive] Oh please, pint size, I did it for myself. I don't hate you. I just don't like you.
[Dismissive] I should care what Akoro gets up to, why? She's her own person-not my problem.
[Annoyed] Don't you DARE speak like that about my group. We're a whole thing! And you try to break us up and I'll take it *very* personally!
Itsua is Flotilla School's doctor. However she's more roguish in her treatment than most.
Itsua is roguish for a doctor, often bending rules and going against commands for the safety of her students, who she treasures above all else. She also often bends the rules for treatments if it means her patients have a better recovery. She's one of the few people Lazuli trusts due to her understanding Lazuli's situation.
Itsua is confident and passionate, but unless you're in with her under the table exploits, she tends to keep a cold shoulder.

[Low Voice] Okay, I have something to help with the pain but it's technically not sanctioned yet. If anyone asks, say I gave you Psmatatsuin
[Happy] Just go to the exam room.
I'm glad I could be of service but...don't tell anyone about what I am doing. This technically isn't legal.
Owl is a guardsman of the Great Shape capital, specifically the castle of its king.
Owl is shy, hates conflict, and stutters over herself constantly. However if her job is ever needed, this shy personality quickly is put to the side and she steels herself into a fierce warrior. She and the current King's Fist, Opal, are Bond Sisters and Owl often treats Opal as an older sister.

[Nervous] D-do you h-h-have an audience with the king?
[Nervous] I...I'm sorry. I c-c-an't let you through unless you are i-invited...sorry...sorry...it's not personal...
[Steeled] Turn back now. I will not warn again.
Opal is the current King's Fist, a rank only one person can ever hold at a time and only answers to the king himself. Despite only being nineteen, she easily is currently living up to Sigrun's legacy.
Opal is a staunch loyalist and traditionalist, seeing the Great Shape as the only viable kingdom to bring about a new golden age of Souleks as it has before. She is a princess from another kingdom given to the Great Shape as a token of partnership. Because of this, she's betrothed to a Great Shape prince known as Deimos. Although she does like Deimos, this forced marriage thing has made her feel trapped and as such focuses hard on her role as the King's Fist in hopes of proving to the king and her betrothed that she can be more than a bargaining chip.
Opal is confrontational, proud, and despite her best efforts, has quite the ego. She also has her reservations towards reds and judges them harshly, often even profiling them at a glance.

[Smug] What's a red soul doing here with-[Soldier voice] Get away from the goddess-! NOW!
[Curious] Well aren't you a strange little boy. Well, maybe not 'little'. For all their violence, I've always envied the reds' heights.
[Rallying] Listen up! I don't care what the prince has said, you listen to the King's Fist now! And we are mere days from war! So either get into shape or you and everyone you currently and will care about will die at the hands of zealotous cultists!
The Father, otherwise known simply as Warmonger, is a powerful elder Soulek patriarch who seeks the destruction and rebuilding of all Soulek society and to return them to the warrior culture they were thousands of years ago prior to the Godfall War and the appearance of the first Pale Soul.
The Father’s past is entirely unknown. Any and all attempts to learn of it have failed and he makes sure nothing emerges prior to the date his extremist group known as The Souls of Justice was formed. What is known is at some point he met the ravenous red soul named Solivis and became kindred spirits, forming an extremist group known as the Souls of Justice. The Father now leads said group with Solivis as his enforcer along with thousands of members, all are deathly loyal to him and his cause.
While mostly a strategist and politician, the Father is not to be underestimated. Unlike his unhinged and arrogant ‘friend’, the Father is well spoken, paternal, and genuinely cares about every single one of his members, seeing them all as his children. Rumors even say he never had children of his own and simply became a patriarch out pure desire to protect his new family. However, his vision as what counts as a caring parent is everything but loving. He sees suicide, violence, and genocide as truly the best path for Souleks. He’s manipulative, abusive, and perfectly willing to change his attitude and feed his cravings if it means he protects his twisted ideology of what being a father is.
The Father is a staunch anti red soul and wishes to see them exterminated, claiming them all as descendants and creations of The Brother, the supposed dark evil sibling to The Lightess who was defeated long ago in ancient times.

[Rallying Troops] You all know what must me done. For millennia the red souls have refused to understand their place! They were born of The Brother, they innately serve him, so they must be destroyed! Remember the Crimson Courts! Remember all the wars they've caused! The Great Shape shields them - protects them! No longer! This shape shall be shattered and these *things* will be exterminated! After that, the Crimson Courts shall fall! We bring Justice. Justice for all the reds have wronged...
[Frustrated] Why can't you not see I am doing this for the good of our people? We were mighty long ago! Warlike and champions of our planet! Now we cower and hide as it dominates us! The Souls of Justice will restore our power to what it should've been! Why can't you understand?
[Talking Seriously to Another Adult] What am I to do? Lash out and kill people in view of others while raving my beliefs like a babbling animal? I'm not allowed to do that. That's a red soul's luxury. *Your* luxury. Instead, my brother, we do this my way.
Solivis is the enforcer of the Souls of Justice. Nothing is known of Solivis’ past, however his title of the Apostate of Hate may imply something.
Regardless, at some point in his 40’s he’d meet a kindred spirit, one simply named the Father. Together they’d form the Souls of Justice and begin to bring their vision to reality. But Solivis truly doesn’t care for their mission, all he wants to destroy society and eventually bring them to extinction. However for now he’s willing to put it on the back burner and serve the Souls of Justice as he believes their cause will give the best chance of his endgame.
Solivis is introverted, antisocial, and hates talking. He finds all Soulek life disgusting and interacting with it is only done when necessary except for one, an orphaned red soul girl The Father found and turned feral. Solivis acts like an uncle to Grim, however using this to further sow anger and hatred in the young girl, further pushing down her worst natures. Solivis finds pleasure in killing in the satisfaction that Souleks are just that little bit closer to extinction. He finds the spilling of blood and the final screams lynched from their throats pleasurable and one of the few things he enjoys in life. He never tires from seeing his own kind die, reveling in all.
What goes on inside his head is a mystery that he never lets anyone, even his closest confidants, in on. It is known he also enjoys collecting relics of ancient red soul culture and any and all references to pale souls. For such a ravenous monster, Solivis is well read and scarily intelligent concerning pale and red soul history, primarily the Godfall War, which he has an almost encyclopedic knowledge on.
In combat Solivis’ eye shines when locking into the target and we will not change his target unless forced to. He fights brutally, using everything at his disposal; weapons, summoned tools, fists, legs, head, horns, the environment, anything to destroy his foe. He drags the fight out to maximize his opponent’s suffering, only killing them when their will to live is broken and they beg for death.
Every word Solivis spits is laced with poison and hatred for every single creature that dares force his words. Unless he speaks to someone he respects such as his fellow founders or a worthy opponent, who which his voice may calm into a more gruff and slower voice, yet still standoffish.
[Voice Filled With Venom] Is that your best? And here I thought us red souls were supposed to be stronger! Where's your crimson pride gone?
[Calm, But Itching For Violence] Brother, I've waited enough. Either you fight me here and now, or you give me something to do. I'm through praying and reading. My bones itch for the thrill of battle.
[Happiness Consumed By Madness] WHAT A RUSH! HURT ME! MAKE ME SCREAM! I WANT IT! I NEED IT! GIVE ME MORE! I NEED TO FEEL PAIN!
Pathos' parents had Pathos for a single purpose: Be the Pale Soul. All the math, all the records and patterns, all the logic of the world computed a member of a litter born in the exact hour of Pathos' birth would be the next Pale Soul. Yet, she was not.
Pathos her entire life was nothing more than an embarrassment to her family for things not within her control. She failed a task her birth would decide the success of. This idea ended up breaking her sanity and Pathos is now a psychopathic serial killer lashing out at the world who marked her as wrong for something she never had a say in.
This madness would reach an apex when she learned the Pale Soul was alive. Pathos would enter a manic rage with only one goal in mind: End this fake Pale Soul. If she cannot be the goddess' reincarnation, no one could possibly be. And maybe by gutting this pretender will give her the means to apotheosis and become the being she so desperately desires to be.
Pathos is your chance to let out your inner insanity. She's crazy, insane, manic, and uncontrollable. She babbles like a mad beast and only has one goal in mind: Kill and become the Pale Soul.

[Shaking in Evil Anticipation as Madness Slowly Consumes Her] YOU! Pale creature! Give it to me! Your soul. It's mine. Mine. Mine. MINE. MINE. It's always been mine! They stole it from me! YOU stole it from me!
[Chuckling Evilly] How cute you are, little ghost. You think you're anything more than a faker pretending to be God. Only I deserve such a title. I AM THE PALE SOUL! [Becomes Manic] You're just some-some-some-fake ghost! Banish! Haunt me no more! Die!
[Completely Batty] STAND BACK! N-no-no! You will not take her from me! I-I-I-I-ME! I AM THE LIGHTESS! I AM GOD! YOU! YOU ARE FROM HIM! YOU WANT TO DRAG ME INTO THE DARKNESS! I AM NOT YOUR SLAVE! I CUT YOU OUT!
Legius is the King of the Crimson Courts, a rival kingdom to The Great Shape, the current dominant kingdom on Solace. Long ago after a devastating war ravaged the planet, red souls established the Crimson Courts to lead Soulek-kind to a new golden age. But their war-like culture was no longer desired and they were dethroned by the first ever Pale Soul, Seirei. For five thousand years the Crimson Court has again and again reappeared under new forms, ideals, and thoughts. But one goal remains the same: 'War is All.'
For a long time the Artorius bloodline was on and off of the throne of the Courts, but always a present Overlord in charge of vast swaths of the land the Courts ruled. For nearly a thousand years they have been part of a project known as the Artorius project. A project that hopes to breed forth the perfect red soul who'll lead the courts to a new age of super powerful soldiers and unite all of Solace under his banner. Legius and his wife Hera were supposedly the final catalysts to birth the supposed Warbringer, and with their litter born, it seems to only be a matter of time until the Warbringer is old enough to bring the end of peace on Solace and the Great Shape as we know it. Yet supposedly he's deserted his duty. But Legius is in no rush. He'll understand. In time they all will understand...
Legius is stoic, strict, and vile. He sees all around him as nothing more than tools to an end. Love is foreign to him. His wife a mere tool to create spawn. His spawn mere tools to improve the Artorius bloodline and those too weak to breed strong soldiers to die for his cause. His daughters political bargaining tools, his sons a violent means to an end. Legius was raised to believe everything was beneath him but even without such he'd believe so. Legius has a heart in only the most literal of senses. He's also proven again and again he is by far the strongest Soulek alive, easily dethroning mighty Overlords and ending bloodlines that have ruled within the Courts for millennia.

That is far enough. Speak your terms.
Hmph. Fine. Have it your way. I send two deployments of my men to train yours for your petty uprising, and you give me the Pale Soul and her pet. One hand washes the other. After this, consider contacting me as a suicide note.
The Warbringer is almost of age. But he eludes his duty...*sighs* I'm giving him time. I shirked mine until I could drink. He just needs the right push. Find it. But do not threaten the girl. Make it his choice.
Galai is the youngest princess of the Crimson Courts house known as the Blood Wings. Her older sister killed Legius' father and the current Crimson Courts king, Deus Artorius. Legius would thank her by making her assassination his engagement date with Hera and crushing the Blood Wings alongside Hera their honeymoon. From there he'd let the Blood Wings live so long as they gave him a fitting peace offering, to which they offered Galai to be one of his sons' wife when they were of age. Legius would accept. This deal would prove useful as despite the Warbringer (the supposed genetically perfected red soul) being born, he wished to see how far he could take perfection and Galai just so happened to be the perfect match to continue the Artorius Project.
Disgusted by this as they more saw each other as found family, the Warbringer fled and Galai would remain under the watchful eye of the Artorius house until the Warbringer returns to claim his throne and her hand. Currently she is guarded by Legius' runt, Azrael. Ironically, they would begin to develop a forbidden love as Azrael was considered too weak to breed and would actively pollute the Artorius bloodline if he did. Not to mention the fact Legius wanted Galai to marry one of Azrael's brothers. The pair would express their love in secret as they slowly look for a way to escape their families.
Galai is caring and affectionate, but stays silent most of the time as to not give anyone any ammunition to use against her later. She's aware of her royal blood and hates it. If she had the word she'd relinquish her royalty and live as a peasant, at least she wouldn't be a pawn in a big game and be thought as nothing more than breeding stock to continue an inane project that she believes is going nowhere and ruined her life. If the Artorius house had but one throat, she'd slit it. Except Azrael, she likes him.

[Affectionate] Hey, Az, I'm guessing he didn't take to your idea.
[Loving and Determined] Look into my eyes, you're not a mistake. You mean everything to me. We will get out of this. We will be free, I will get that stupid idea out of your head that you have to serve your father, and we will run off and be the best goat farmers or something. Anything that's away from all this. This-this-madness!
[Emotionally Pained and Nearly Crying] I am more than just the ability to make babies for your stupid project, you pompous fool! If I could, I'd kill you and spit on your grave! And you know you can't do anything to me because my family is a useful ally, and I am needed for that said stupid project! Damn my father, damn The Lightess, and damn you all!
Azrael is the youngest of the litter born of King Legius and Queen Hera Artorius. As a runt, he was quickly discarded by the king as a mere pawn in his game. However Hera saw potential. She raised the boy as she did all her children. However once Hera disappeared, Azrael was left with nothing more than the pain of knowing everyone wanted him dead and his blood was the only thing keeping him alive.
Eventually he was made a bodyguard of a princess from another kingdom until one of his brothers, the Warbringer, returned. However, him and the princess Galai would develop feelings for each other. Understanding how forbidden their love was and if discovered would certainly result in Azrael's death, they kept it secret. However he couldn't abandon his father as his whole life he was raised to serve him and that programming was hard to shatter.
Azrael puts on a front of confidence and that of being a proud red soul. But behind that face is that of a crying whimpering little boy who can't do anything himself without encouragement from those who care about him. That being his Attendant servant and Galai. Azrael has been told his entire life he's worthless and he only lives because the political fallout of his death would be inconvenient for his father. As such he pretends nothing's wrong meanwhile he second guesses every second of his life within his mind.

[Submissively] My King...Father, may a offer another idea? Given my brother doesn't seem to be returning...may I request I marry the Blood Wings princess? She and I have gotten to know each other and I believe we are just as good as He would be with her.
[Confident] You mess with a prince of the Artorius bloodline! The mightiest one on and within Solace!
[Weak and Mentally Exhausted] I can't keep doing this. I...I'm just sick of it all. Maybe he's right...
Given Attendants abandon their names when becoming such, the one dubbed 'Attendant of the Runt' is the Attendant that serves Azrael, the youngest son of Legius Artorius. She's a loyal and loving 'servant' who effectively serves as his mother in Hera's mysterious absence. Despite technically being a servant to Azrael's wills, he more treats her like his superior and parental figure, knowing she's older and therefore far more knowledgeable than him. Especially given how much she knows of the Courts as she was an Attendant before he was even born.
The Attendant of the Runt, or as Azrael calls her, Tar. is hard to get a read on due to how little of her appearance is visible and how she looks identical to all other Attendants. But it's clear her care for Azrael goes beyond just her duties.

You have the power to stop, or strengthen, this. You just need to dig for it.
Oh...Him. He...He was a lot. But since he's gone for now, let's not talk about Him, okay?
My dear Azrael, you're more than your Father and our King say you are. You're a mighty soldier and you didn't hear this from me, but a mighty fine paring with that princess hm?
The Retainers are the emissaries, servants, and bodyguards of the Overlords who rule the Crimson Courts. Each Overlord treats their Retainers uniquely. Though uniformly they all take a vow of silence unless they are to speak on behalf or by the behest of their Overlord. Some Overlords even go so far as to remove their voice boxes and replace them with a playback device that only plays messages given to them by their Overlord.
Retainers also forgo their identity after their induction. As such none are truly named and rather are given epithets by those who encounter them. Notable ones include the Ghost of Legius who often carries out his most bloody of orders and intimidates threats into compliance, the Hand of Malial who was known to be so evil that he somehow killed his own Overlord, or the Will of Skollvaldr who is an impartial Retainer who obeys no Overlord as they serve the metaphorical overlord Skollvalder, or the god(s) of Solace.
Retainers often have a filtered or mechanized voice much akin to Spy's in EMESIS BLUE after his accident (this can be found specifically at 1:35:48 of the video).

Gladys is the secretary of Zelus, an accomplished businessman. She's a busybody and loves nothing more than to help her boss in any way she can. Though she seems a little *too* attached to her role and doesn't take kindly to any possibility of being fired or removed from working directly alongside Zelus.
Gladys is a workaholic and just as much a trooper. She only gets eight hours off a day and spends only four of those sleeping and the rest planning for what to do once she's back on the clock. Also despite being a purple soul who usually grow far more than the other colors, Gladys is only 4'11. A fact that often makes her hyper and spastic behavior, combined with her more high pitched voice, make come across like a gremlin.
Gladys has the voice like your average troublemaker. If she was in any other universe she'd be setting fires and antagonizing everyone around her. But instead she's a hyper-orderly and OCD-riddled heart of gold. So long as her addiction to working for Zelus is placated.

Vale, otherwise known as The Traitor, was the previous Pale Soul prior to Lazuli Eralis. She is widely regarded as the single most hated Soulek in history. Vale is an everlasting reminder to the Soulek people that the Pale Souls are not the divine beings they are claimed to descend from, rather a mere shadow at best. They are still human, still mortal.
If it wasn’t for Vale, Lazuli’s life may have ended up a lot better than neglected and shunned on a spaceship, or at least she would’ve been treated better. But Vale’s madness poisoned the well for all successor Pale Souls, forever needing to prove they are not their forerunner and will save their people, not conquer them.
Vale was manipulative, evil, a classic JRPG or golden age Disney villain like Maleficent or Queen Sectonia. She was mad, insane, yet extremely composed and shockingly intelligent for all of her madness. She sought for apotheosis, to reunite with her full Lightess self and ascend to godhood. But would be ultimately felled and assassinated by four legendary heroes.

[Evil Monologue] Do you feel it, low lives? Divinity. I can feel my divine self on my fingertips...her true power. The power to form chaos and to shape worlds at the snip of a thread...this. This is not madness. This is apotheosis. Now enough babbling. Bow. Bow to me before I unravel your entire collective existence! No? Fine, defy me. No one shall remember this betrayal anyways. Let's end this!
[Smooth Talking Manipulation, a Bit of Seductress] Do you think the heroes *like* you? No...they are using you. They're constricted by the God of the Deep's whims to drag me down away from my true divine self. I offer a better solution. To work with your goddess, and maybe...if you prove a useful partner...we can go further together. [Voice becomes menacing] Or we can do this the hard way...
[Fed Up, Madness Showing] You tread where you not welcome!
The mysterious and evil brother to the Soulek goddess, The Lightess.
Due to his nature as a mythological figure, depicting The Brother’s appearance cannot be confirmed for certain. He’s ranged from a giant crow who’s gutted out eyes became the two moons, to a strange humanoid bird bat dragon chimera, to a short masked and cloaked humanoid, to a more in-line Soulek-like appearance. His earliest depiction had him as a masked man with an unknown face, a mane, gangly limbs with long black fingers at the end of bird-like wings, and upper body armor, exposing long bird-like legs and tail.
Unlike his sister who’s seen a good, albeit fickle, deity. The Brother is strictly seen as an evil deity. Those who worship him see him as a powerful key to greater power or a manifestation of their goals. Many use him as a living sigil to manifest him into what they desire the world to become, seeing him as a moldable god that can anything they desire him to be. Due to this his personality is inconsistent and up to interpretation. Though, a consistent characterization is that he is mature, direct, and a man of few words. The Brother’s gifts have been numerous.
No era can agree on what he’s capable of. What has been listed he can transmute matter, mutate life, subjugate minds, manipulate the weather, change the perception of time, age or de-age, give insight, manipulate the elements, and far more. He also has ranged in power. From a force that even now is still equal to the Lightess if not stronger, to a weak shell of what he once was who needs to rely on trickery and corruption to get his way. The Brother often is characterized as well spoken, patient, manipulative, and incredibly intelligent.
Though he's said to not be one for conversation and preferes to simply have what he wanted done. He is also often characterized as a being of no true form and the appearance he wears is but a single aspect of his true appearance behind a fragile veil. Often The Brother has an aesthetic of hands and fingers. Many of his depictions have hands and/or fingers appearing out of nothing or parts of him splitting into them, or even complete extra sets of them.
For his voice there's a massive range, but I'm thinking something menacing like Centaurworld's The Nowhere King, Adventure Time's The Lich, Sonic 06's Mephilis, World of Warcraft's N'Zoth, C'Thun, or Y'Shaaraj, Destiny's Oryx the Taken King, or Destiny 2's Witness, Rhulk, or Nezarec. However if you believe he's something else, be my guest and take a unique spin! The Brother is all about open-endedness. Heck, of all of the characters here, I want to see your improvs on The Brother the most!

Cyn is the main antagonist of the hit Soulek show, Starline Souls. Cyn is a Pale Soul in the 3000th century when the Souleks have conquered the stars. As she matured she went mad and pursued apotheosis like her ancient predecessor, Vale.
However unlike her, Cyn succeeded in merging herself with her godly half and corrupted rest of The Lightess, becoming a god in her own right far stronger than either before. Cyn now strives to conquer the universe and transform it into a realm of pure chaos where nothing is certain other than that nothing is certain. But she is repeatedly foiled by the peppy young Soulek, Lapis, a Pale Soul artificially created to defeat Cyn and hopefully free The Lightess from her corruption. However, perhaps this is what Cyn wants all along as she always seems one step ahead of the Starline’s crew as she forms her master plan.
Cyn is detached, egocentric, and malicious. She has zero care for anyone or anything that does not further her plans and only cares for those that do purely because they further her plans. She believes life has no meaning and chaos is the only meaning in life. To make sense of it would be defying nature. Cyn is far too powerful to take head on due to her immense power and godly abilities, instead she has to be repeatedly outwitted and outmaneuvered so her plans can be halted while Lapis attempts to figure out how to defeat her for good.
Cyn has no ulterior motives, no true desire behind her cause, she simply believes that the universe emerged from chaos and should return to chaos. Despite this, she has found a foray of alien species and individuals to join her on her crusade, also believing in her cause.

Lapis Lazuli is a fictional character that first appeared in the Soulek anime Starline Souls, a reboot of the famed series, Starside Souls. Currently the series is still going as Starline Souls Z Ultima, a divisive tone shift of the show where it’s focused more on combat than characters.
Lapis was created in a lab by scientists in order to make the ultimate weapon to counter the corrupt Pale Soul of their time, Cyn, who by now has merged with her true self and corrupted The Lightess herself into a dark god of chaos. Lapis and her crew aboard their ship The Starline travel the galaxy in search of ways to defeat the ascended Cyn and making friends and foes alike across the cosmos.
The show has been a massive hit for the past thirty years, however the most recent series, Starline Souls Z Ultima, has faced criticism for aging up Lapis and focusing more on teen to young adult audiences instead of the all audiences the series had been for the past twenty seven years. This has led to a divided fan base and struggling ratings.
Despite this, Lazuli in particular loves the show and finds Lapis in particular an inspiration. Lapis is characterized as spunky, resourceful, intelligent, and in the newest series quite flirty with Helmsman Tevren, much to his flustered chagrin. Lazuli even theorizes she was named after the spunky captain.
Yet with a dark side caused by corrupt code in her genetics she has to hold in ‘lest she fall into a dark transformation into a powerful feral dragon which can only be stoped by the power of friendship and bonds. She’s also off and on written as an airhead or even flat out stupid, but this varies from series to series and even between seasons or episodes.

[Preparing for Battle] Come at me, I may not be the real deal but I hit just as hard! Even harder if you get a hit in.
[Calm But Concerned] I fear for Spectra. She has so much power, but only the mind of a kid...how can we possibly make this plan work...
Spectra is a fictional character in the show Starside Souls. She was originally known as the Rainbow Soul, a type of soul that can grant soul colors to other people and use any soul color for herself at will.
Spectra was revealed to be the last remaining fragment of The Lightess’ good she dispersed before being fully subsumed into Cyn’s consciousness. Spectra being The Lightess’ eternal hope for a better future and love for the Souleks. She’s perpetually a child due to how naïve her fragment of the whole she is and as such she is always seeing the good in others and trying to help people be their best selves, even if she isn’t particularly good at it.
Cyn and Spectra often clash mentally as Cyn tries to dominate her mind and return her to the whole. It’s up to Lapis to take Spectra under her wing as a little sister-like figure and protect her from the Queen of Chaos in hopes she may be the key to saving the galaxy and their goddess.
Spectra may have existed for nearly 30 years, but she's permanently 14 years old.

You will not control me!
What more does this universe want from me? I just want to return to normal...
If I'm just a piece of the whole Lightess, will I even remember who I am if we return to being whole? What am I to her?
Strand is an alternate universe incarnation of Lazuli where she succumbed to the immense power of the pale soul and turned evil alongside her bodyguard, Crimson.
Strand is immensely powerful, capable of tearing the fabric of reality apart and appear wherever she desires, whenever she desires. Her relation with time is tumultuous and often things she does or happens to her simply are undone or suddenly occur. She often uses her mastery of soul silk to capture and torture her victims, attempting to break them and fall in line with her rule. How she does this is unknown, but it’s known the more you listen to her siren-like voice, the more subject to her suggestions you become until your willpower is exhausted and you become her slave.
Strand has but one goal; universal domination. She has already subjugated all of her Solace (known as Tumult in her universe) and become the queen to a species of wholly loyal slaves with no desire of their own other than to serve their goddess of light. Strand is coy, smart, and most importantly, sadistic. She takes pleasure in seeing the mind of any who resist her slowly corrupted by her siren song and the seeming instinctual desire of all life to serve her. Seeing men tear themselves apart resisting praising her beauty and women angrily defying falling to their knees being unworthy to be even near her. Watching all animals go from hunting and running from her to sleeping at her heels peacefully. To see all plant life move out of her way and assist her locomotion.
Strand’s silky and soft voice worms its way into every mind who hears it and her beauty never leaves one’s dreams. These thoughts become more and more consuming until serving her is all they care for. She rarely does things herself, but when she does it’s always in the most sadistic way possible that does not maim or mentally break her victims. She wants her future subjects healthy and mentally well. Aside from their bent devotion to her, of course. Strand and Crimson’s relationship is strange, as it seems Crimson hasn’t been bent yet he’s heard her voice and seen her more than anyone, yet stalwart he stands to deny any violence against her.
Unlike Lazuli who's only 15, Strand is well into her 20's.

Winnowa is a low intel deity of Proto-Soulek belief.
Winnowa is theorized to have been some kind of reset being, appearing after a certain amount of time to wipe Solace clean for new life. Descriptions of Winnowa is scarce. The most that is known is of an ancient carved statue depicting Winnowa as a humanoid(ish) being with tendrils and seemingly a floating head, if the shape used to connect the head to the torso falls in line with other known Proto-Soulek culture depictions of floating. It also seemed to be liquidy and viscous, if the carvings are believed to be liquid spots.
Besides this statue and other certain scant information, little is known of Winnowa, even the gender of the being, if it was divine or demonic, or any potential relation to either or both Siblings. Why Winnowa is no longer worshiped is unknown. Some theories say The Lightess or even The Brother killed the beast, others say Winnowa simply fell out of favor as an old religion for the current one, and even if Winnowa even exists and is simply hiding until the end times, or if it was just a Proto-Soulek explanation for why things change.

‘U’ was a demonic entity that was feared by Proto-Souleks.
U has no described form, rather it simply took the form of either the person viewing it or someone they care immensely about. It stalked its prey and slowly wore down their body and mind by playing tricks on them such as pretending to be a cared one and burning bridges such as disowning the victim, spreading lies, or hurting them. Or it could become the person themselves and using clever tricks either sow distrust through pretending to be them to others, or even just drive the prey mad through careful appearances within the edges of their vision.
Once their prey is broken enough to the point of wishing for death and no one to rely on, U appears and what happens next varies from tale to tale. In some it’s said it ate them, others it absorbs their mind into its gestalt one, or in one tale, it simply talked with its broken prey until the prey chose to fall on his own sword.
U is said to have been killed by The Lightess herself, but legends have it that The Brother took in U’s soul and turned it into one of his disciples and is the true leader of The Witnesses, or perhaps even their superior or secret weapon.
