The Lightess is a religious deity of the Soulek people.
Worshiped as many things throughout the years, it is difficult to give her a true appearance. She’s ranged from a purely massive kestrel-like creature, to a bipedal humanoid moth with a bird beak and bird wings, to more in line with Soulek appearances with any mixture of moth, bird, human, or even dragon and bat parts mixed in. Her earliest known depictions have her as a humanoid Soulek-like being with a strange mask and a bird beak. The Lightess has many things she’s been worshiped for, but the notable thing is Good or Evil or anything of the sort is not among those she’s worshiped for. The Lightess is characterized as while loving and caring to all her creations, she still is a mischief maker and enjoys a good laugh at people’s expenses, and her sense of humor can be extreme. She’d be better summarized as a goddess of change.
No matter how many interpretations she has had, she always is written to hate entropy and stagnation. Always metaphorically throwing a stone at the pot to mix things up. She’s also depicted often as vindictive and quick to anger and even quicker on the draw, with many beliefs even saying she struck first against her Brother, assuming what he was going to do or knowing what he was going to do and not letting him explain himself. She’s inherently good-meaning and wants what’s best for everyone under her wing, but she still has her eccentricities that make her a fickle deity to believe in.
She’s also written often as naive and petulant. Despite her often description of ‘motherly’, she still has often been written as quite immature and petty, along with being scatterbrained and hard to focus. But at the same time she’s seen as compassionate, loving, active, supportive, and powerful. Most Souleks who worship her see her as any being, strengths and weaknesses, but she’s a goddess worth worshiping and making sure you don’t get on her bad side.
She’s characterized as petulant, sarcastic, casual, and the opposite of how one would expect a god to act. This is because she’s said to be very inexperienced and hasn’t fully matured as the deity of the universe, despite her apparent millions-billions of years of life. This is also why she’s depicted as a young woman, to show her less than godly behavior. However she also is characterized as loving, caring, and kind to any who seek her. Her number one goal to protect and grow the Soulek people, but still is willing to cause strife and conflict for the sake of change.
An aspect that will never change about her, no matter the religion she’s a part of. The Lightess is characterized further as having a direct role in changing the bodies and minds of Souleks throughout their lives. Starting initially at puberty, she’s said to be the one who changes the Soulek to best fit the plan she has for them. She then does it again if the Soulek becomes a parent and therefore goes through the process to become a matriarch or patriarch Soulek to ensure they do their best as a parent. The Lightess is worshiped for family matters from love, to bearing children, to marriage, to even just peace in the household. Along with for good years and light across the harsh planet of Solace, and for whatever change she makes to one or the world around them to be good ones.
