The Moonstone Saga: The Emerald Circlet is a science fiction fantasy novel I have written and am seeking to adapt into an audiobook as a personal project. This is the auditioning for the second act, the first has already closed and production is underway!
OVERVIEW:
This is a personal project that will help me realize this novel that has been a lifelong dream of mine and my magnum opus for the past several years. It will be in audiobook form, where each of the characters will likely have primarily short lines with only a few real monologues, so their roles will be relatively light on the workload. The narrators will take the brunt of the work, but I do currently have it divided into three parts in order to lighten the load. I hope that you can consider auditioning, as I believe this can be a fun opportunity to practice some low-stakes voice acting and make some friends!
SYNOPSIS:
The Moonstone Saga: The Emerald Circlet is a 117,000-word Science-Fiction/Fantasy novel that follows six young adults from unique walks of life. The setting is thousands of years in the future, and humanity as we know it has gone extinct and been replaced by warring species that have either evolved or been modified from the “Aliksar''. A human fresh out of cryosleep, a strawberry farmer who is more bird than man, A disgraced soldier, a long-lost princess equipped with venomous fangs, A prince turned smuggler, and a blind scientist are pulled together by fate. Together, they escape from a galactic prison and go on the run, ending up on Manticore, the Manti homeplanet, where they learn of Graey’s title. The Nagalair, who have fought with the Manti for centuries, attack Manticore, leading to the death of the Great Mother, Graey’s mom. She crowns Jaenelle, who is secretly the Nagalain heir, the next Great Mother because of Graey’s affection for her. Jaenelle then boards the armada and, after the death of her elderly grandfather, is crowned Grand Admiral of the Nagalair before choosing to run with the rest of the crew to the galaxy's edge. This story follows themes of self-actualization and coming-of-age as Graey and Jaenelle go from irresponsible teenagers on a prison ship to galactic figureheads drowning in power and responsibility as they and the rest of the crew mature and learn that if you are to survive in this galaxy, it’s kill or be killed.

Auditioning Instructions:
Your audio quality does not need to be perfect, but limited grain and background noise would be greatly appreciated so that you won't sound strange when compared to the other actors, so unfortunately this will be taken into consideration when selecting from auditions. In your audition, you may submit as many takes of each line as you'd like, but preferably 2-5 takes to each line, please. Either in AABBCC format or ABCABC format, whichever you prefer.
Many characters speak other languages and have accents. For almost every character, these are optional. If a character speaks in another language, it will never be more than a line or two and, because this isn't professional, your best attempt is welcome. They won't be a required part of the audition process, but a line in their language will be included in their description to be said optionally. Please don't be insulting to another culture, stereotypes and over-exaggerations could be very offensive in certain accents. Please do not limit your auditions because of an accent or language, they are not necessary and all but one character could sound like an American!
There is no sexually explicit dialogue in this series, as it is a YA novel, but there are a few adult topics such as child abuse, SA, and violence. None of which are explicitly said and very seldom appear in this particular book, but it would still be preferable to keep leads 18+ and other roles 15+, but that is just my recommendation.

Recording Process
All recordings are done asynchronously. I provide directional notes on the script and am open to any questions our actors may have. If necessary, we will only request a retape for a line and will try to provide the scene partner’s recordings whenever possible.

Ichika is a side character in The Moonstone Saga: The Emerald Circlet. She is an assassin and a Notokoko, a fish-based species whose real-world ethnic equivalent is Japanese. Ichika snuck on board as a stowaway because she had gotten a job to assassinate Jaenelle, but was captured and remained as a prisoner on the ship for the rest of the book.

Ichika, once captured, is very chill and laid-back. She makes funny sarcastic comments and enjoys her time to relax.
OPTIONAL German Line: (Context - Rhun has attempted to calm Ichika down, and they're trying to joke around to relieve the tension. Intended Translation: Will you put a good word in with your Aunt for me?) "Wirst du bei deiner Tante ein gutes Wort für mich einlegen?"

Something like that."
(Context for line 2 - The Nagalaian armada is descending upon Manticore, and Ichika is freaking out and panicked.) "You have to let me out of here! (Break) Nagalair. Let me out, please. You have to let me out! I can’t die here!”
Evrim Jerdonii is a crime lord on Anoplogaster. She is a Cataran-A cat-base species, specifically a lionness in Evrim's case. She has a thick French accent and has a negative opinion of Graey after he inadvertently got her brother killed.

(Context for line 2 - Evrim reveals that she holds resentment for Graey. She is enraged and yelling at him.) “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t really care about that, he deserved it. What I did care about was that Madame gave her his position. MY POSITION! She kicked me out because a worthless cripple and her Hehirark boyfriend managed to 'impress her'. I worked for that job for THIRTEEN YEARS!”
(Context for line 3 - After Jaenelle tries to convince Evrim to spare them, she decides to play with her food. She is described as having a wide-unnatural smile and sounds as if she's speaking to a child.) “You know what? I’m in a good mood today, so I’m going to let you go. You have five minutes before I release the hounds. Good luck getting off the Station without a ship. The door’s over there.”

A man confronts Ara on the street and attempts to mug her at gunpoint.

2. Unnamed Mursteinn
Mursteinns are big, strong, and stupid. This one in particular is frustrated after almost running over Ara in a crowded street.

3. Trafficker Grunt
Ara, after running away from Rhun, seeks aid from a group of Cataran she believes to be Police Officers. They are, in fact, human traffickers, and their leader, a Nagalair, sweet talks her into getting into their car. This grunt decides to grab her butt as she walks in. Cannot be the same actor as the Leader of Trafficking Ring.

An older Nagalaian woman talks briefly with Ara at a bus stop. Their conversation convinces Ara to stay traveling with Rhun because he believes her story, but the woman remains oblivious to Ara's distress.

Rhun is one of the lead males. His first language is German, and he has a few German lines throughout the audiobook. The wonderful actor who plays Rhun does not speak German, so we're looking for a man who is fluent (or close to it) to record his lines. It is preferable that it still sounds like the same person.
This actor may also take on extra roles if they would like.
Rhun's Details:
Rhun is a main character in The Moonstone Saga. He is a species known as a Yerterian, a tall warrior-like elven species. He grew up in an affluent noble family filled with unfortunate family drama. He was a soldier in the Yerterian army and was taken captive by their enemies, the Xathosians.

Rhun is stern and militaristic but can struggle in certain social situations. He is manly and blunt, but does not speak without purpose.
