ROLE:  Both games!
Range: Medium to High
Voice: Open to interpretation! Link is fairly young in these two games, so think male anime protagonist and you're on the right path!
Important: Link has short dialogue choices in-game, and moments in cutscenes where he is seen vocalizing. I'd like to add a little bit more personality by having him speak some classic one-liners! Feel free to improvise in your audition as much as you want and make your audition stand out!

Character Profile: Our Link in Phantom Hourglass is the same Link from Wind Waker  and is known to be a little lazy but still highly determined when it comes to helping those in need (especially Tetra)! In Spirit Tracks, we find Link to be a descendant of Wind Waker Link and his traits are definitely similar!

  • (Serious) I need to save my friend, okay?!

  • (Sleepy/confused} 5 more minutes... Mom...

  • (Surprised) It's the... Princess.

ROLE:  Spirit Tracks only.

Range: Medium to High
Voice: Open to interpretation, although she should sound self-assured and energetic! Zelda is full of spunk and is not afraid to let people know how she feels in this game! Have fun! :D
Important:  Feel free to improvise in your audition as much as you want and make your audition stand out!

Character Profile: Princess Zelda is determined to solve the mystery of the disappearing train tracks in her kingdom and gets swept up in an unexpected quest to not only restore power to the land, but rescue her body before a formidable evil is resurrected with her sacred power.

  • (Regal/Calm) I hereby recognize our newest royal engineer...Link! Work hard for we all rely on you, Link.

  • (Serious) I have the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. That's why I absolutely must get to the tower!

  • (Horrified) We HAVE to stop them! We can't let the Demon King return!

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass only.

Range: Medium to (Anime Girl) High
Voice:  Ciela is lively and bubbly, so I'm looking for an energetic voice!
Feel free to improvise in your audition as much as you want and make your audition stand out!

Character Profile: Ciela is Link's main companion throughout Phantom Hourglass. She is not just another Navi 2.0! She's sassy and upbeat, often poking fun at Linebeck and keeping him in... line. Ciela has lost her memories of who she is in the beginning of the game, and along the course of the adventure regains her true purpose.

  • Oh, phew! You're awake! You weren't moving, so I thought you were done for!

  • (Excited) I'm Ciela! You see, I'm a fairy!

  • (Speaking to Linebeck/teasing) What?! Staying behind? You're just scared, aren't you?

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks (as a descendant).

Range: Low to Medium High
Voice:  Think of Captain Jack Sparrow as a reference if you'd like. Just more egotistical and slightly flamboyant.
Important: The English/British accent is NOT mandatory! However, it is recommended. Feel free to improvise in your audition as much as you want and make your audition stand out!

Character Profile: Captain of the S.S. Linebeck, this man has a passion for sailing the seas and collecting treasure. You either love him or are annoyed by him. Linebeck has some narcissistic tendencies and his friendship with Link is a bit tough at first. He is the secondary companion in Phantom Hourglass.

Wiki Entry

  • (Confident) The name's Linebeck! I'm a real man of the sea. Impresssive, huh?

  • (Slightly nervous at first) Normally, I'd be leading the charge down there! I'm just letting him have the glory of saving his friend!

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass only.

Range: Low ???
Voice: Calm and wise,  just imagine that this man is at peace with the world.
Important: The audition lines are a conversation he is having with Link.
Character Profile: Oshus is first introduced as Ciela's Grandpa at the beginning of the game, but there's more to him than meets the eye. He knows much about Mercay Island and the Ocean Temple, guiding Link throughout the game.

Wiki Entry

  • I am Oshus, and I live on this island. Ciela told me all about what happened to you.

  • I understand that you want to find the Ghost Ship. But you must not.

  • Hmm.... you're not going to give up are you? (sigh) Young people....

ROLE:  Spirit Tracks only.

Range: Low to Medium

Voice:  Just saying to sound mysterious isn't good enough, is it? Think of a low whisper. References: Shadow the Hedgehog. Snake from Metal Gear. I swear he's not edgy though.

Byrne (pronounced /ˈbɜːɹn/, burn) is an antagonist in Spirit Tracks. He is a servant of Chancellor Cole, as well as the boss of the final floor of the Tower of Spirits. Throughout the story, his motives for siding with evil are explained as well as his origins. He really strikes me as the Vegeta type, character arc and all.

Wiki Entry

  • This man speaks the truth. His movements are not that of an amateur, but he is only human.

  • Anyone who gets in my way will be eliminated. No matter who it is.

Role assigned to: deleted4591

ROLE:  Spirit Tracks only.

Range: Medium to High
Voice: Open to interpretation! However, for reference he has a high-pitched (impish) laugh in-game.

The Chancellor appears to be an adviser of sorts to the princess and seems to act as a sort of guardian to her as well as it is revealed that he does not like her leaving Hyrule Castle unattended. This creates problems when Zelda wishes to leave the castle due to her distrust of Cole's intentions. This guy is shady to the max.

  • (Dismissive) The ceremony's over, so I suggest you move along. Why don't you go... polish your train or something?

  • (Sinister) Not that it matters... the thing will be useless before long.

  • (Optional) Add in a few evil laughs if you want!

ROLE:  Spirit Tracks only.

Range: Medium to High
Voice: Open to interpretation, she can be stern when she needs to but is otherwise collected. She's basically the mom/grandma character we all need.

As the guardian of the Tower of Spirits, Anjean plays a major role in the game, providing both Link and Zelda with helpful advice on how to help restore the Spirit Tracks and destroy Malladus, the Demon King, once and for all. One of Anjean's most notable abilities is her skill to telepathically communicate with others, which she does with frequency to aid the young heroes in their quest.

  • (Replying to Zelda) I see that feistiness runs in your family, my dear. But there's no need to get your feathers all ruffled.

  • (Zelda is panicking) Sorry to interrupt such, um, an enthusiastic pep talk, but ascending this tower alone would be impossible.

ROLE:  Spirit Tracks only. Please read before auditioning!**

Range: Any
Voice: Open to interpretation, each sage represents a different element. Let that idea influence ya!

(Optional) Please state which sage(s) you'd be interested in voicing. You can write it as an audition comment, alternatively.
**IMPORTANT: Please take note that the audition lines are for 5 different characters, which are in this role for the sake of convenience. Multiple VAs may be cast for this role, so I will comment on auditions for casting. Thank you!

The Lokomo Sages play a pivotal role in Link's quest to save Zelda and restore the Spirit Tracks/Tower. Each sage helps Link learn a song on the Spirit Flute that will assist him in different tasks. Five sages can be found in each region Link and Zelda journey to.

A link to the Zelda Wiki is provided for each character. Feel free to check 'em out, they've got some really cool designs!

Carben and Rael have been cast to Killthend.

Gage, Steem and Embrose have been cast to c_squint.

  • Gage: To restore the tracks that disappeared, you need to know a special song. This Lokomo Song is a duet that requires two sacred instruments. My cello and your Spirit Flute should do the trick! Steem: I haven't been that nervous about performing in I don't know how long... But now the Spirit Tracks to the Snow Temple have been restored.

  • Carben: I was talking to the birds about the different places they've seen. Let me reintroduce myself. I am Carben, guardian of the Ocean Realm.
Embrose: My name is Embrose, and I am indeed this realm's guardian. In case you're wondering, yes, I know who you are. You're here to restore the Spirit Tracks, right?

  • Rael: So wonderful you could make it, Your Highness. And you too, young man! Call me Rael; it's my name! I am the guardian of the Sand Realm!
(Optional) Please state which sage(s) you'd be interested in voicing. You can write it as an audition comment, alternatively.

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass (young adult) and Spirit Tracks (he's aged considerably in the sequel).

Range: Low to Medium
Voice:  He may not look it but ideally it would be fun to give him a scholarly persona (he's teaching history after all).  He's hype for telling stories and you should be too! :)
Important: You don't have to do two different voices for this role but give it a try if you're interested!

Niko introduces the game as the narrator in the prologue of Phantom Hourglass. He shows his more cowardly nature in the game at the mention of ghosts and the Ghost Ship.
In Spirit Tracks, he appears as an elderly man, who again narrates the game's prologue as part of an annual show he performs known as Spirits and Demons...at War!

 Zeldapedia

  • So what did you think of my amazing paper cut outs?

  • With their power drained, the spirits of good returned to the heavens, Suddenly bereft of both demons and spirits, this land was entrusted to us. (Story ends) Well, do I know how to tell a story or what?

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass only.

Range: Any
Voice: I'm looking for a slightly monotone, yet elegant voice.
Fairies have very minor roles in Phantom Hourglass but are important nonetheless! That's why they need unique voices.

During the start of the game, Neri remains imprisoned inside the Temple of Wind, as she was imprisoned by Bellum; however, after Link defeats Cyclok (temple boss), she is freed and joins him through his quest.

Taken from the Zelda Wiki

Character Profile: Astrid is a minor recurring character throughout the game. She is first found on the Isle of Ember. She tells Link and Linebeck their fortunes, ultimately guiding them to the Fire Temple.

  • (Shaken at first, then confident) Who... who are you? Yes, that's right. My name is Astrid. I was sealed in here to hide from the monsters. I didn't foresee one thing...

  • (Link tells his name) Link? It evokes kindness and strength in the same breath. Lovely name.

Character Profile: Kayo was Astrid's assistant who appears as a ghost in order to guide Link on how to rescue her. It is presumed that he was a victim of the Ghost Ship but sacrificed himself for her safety.

  • (Deliberately) Brute force... will get you nowhere...

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass only.

Range: Medium
Voice: Fierce/commanding. She's one of the baddest female pirates out there ;)
IMPORTANT: If you are cast, you'll also be asked to play her sister Joanne.

Character Profile: Jolene is a former travel partner of Linebeck's who he betrayed by stealing her treasure. Rude. She now keeps a vigilant eye for the S.S. Linebeck, in aims of challenging him once and for all. You'll run into Jolene several times throughout the story.

  • (Challenging) Somewhere on these vast seas our paths will cross again. If you have any honor at all, you will meet me in battle one last time!

  • (Thoughtful) There is something about your stubborn personality that... draws me. The one who captivated me so long ago had that same look in his eyes.

Character Profile: Zauz is another man of mystery. He knows secrets about the Ocean Temple and may have been close to Oshus at some point. Zauz plays an important role in helping Link to forge the Phantom Sword which will help him defeat the final boss.

  • So you guys are on a big adventure in search of the Ghost Ship, eh?!

ROLE:  Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Range: Medium to High
Voice: Open to interpretation! Although, I do imagine he's a bit obnoxious as a character.

The Postman has a bit more dialog in Phantom Hourglass because he does read the letters Link receives in the mail, save for one.  However, he shows up sparingly in Spirit Tracks and does not read mail out loud anymore.

  • I've got a letter for you, so I'll just jump right in and read it aloud. Oh, wait--that's the way we USED to do things. But no more!

  • Apparently, some folks thought us reading their letters out loud was rude. So now our policy is to just hand-deliver the mail unopened.

IMPORTANT: If you are cast, you'll also be asked to play Gonzo (Tetra's crew-mate) who appears in Phantom Hourglass. Both characters appear in the early scenes of each game.

Alfonzo is Link's mentor and a royal engineer in Spirit Tracks. It is revealed that he is a skilled swordsman in the first encounter with Byrne and Cole. He also helps outfit the Spirit Train with a cannon later on in the game.

  • (Talking to Link) I'm heading to the station now, so meet me there. Remember, the station is up the road. Don't get lost! Got it? Good! Then get a move on!

  • (Serious) I don't know who these two are, Your Highness. But with your permission... I'd be happy to teach them some manners

Fun fact, his name is Tetsuo in the JP game.

Ferrus is a self proclaimed "trainiac" who loves everything about trains and can often be found taking pictures of them on the tracks. He plays an important role in helping Link and Zelda reach the Snow Temple and shows up throughout the game.

  • OH MY GOSH, you stopped! Uh... So, how's it rolling?

  • When I first saw you driving THE Spirit Train, I freaked! I was all like, "HOLY COW, it's THE Spirit Train! I'm Ferrus. When it comes to trains, I'm kind of an expert.
