Hey everyone! Tysm for all the auditions! It was really hard to pick through all of them honestly since I’ve never done anything like this before, but everyone who auditioned is genuinely so talented!!
To those who haven’t noticed, I’ve closed auditions for Nick and Gatsby, but if you’re still willing to help out with this project, I’ve added 3 side characters with very small lines.
If anyone is interested in auditioning for them that would great!! Again, tysm for the auditions!! Have a nice week everyone! 💙
Jay Gatsby is an ambitious self-made millionaire who throws lavish parties in West Egg, hoping to impress Daisy Buchanan, his lost love. He's driven by a strong desire to recreate the past and recapture the love he lost.
Voice: Pompous, Romantic, and articulated.
(Arrogantly) “Can’t repeat the past?...Why of course you can!”
(Proudly) “It’s pretty, isn’t it, old sport? Haven’t you ever seen it before?”
(Anxiously but whispered) Oh God…! This was a terrible mistake! A terrible, TERRIBLE mistake!
He is a bond salesman and the neighbor of Jay Gatsby. He is young, observant, and relatively honest which causes people to confide in him.
Voice: Calm, composed, and soft-spoken
(Awkwardly) “You make me feel uncivilized, Daisy. Can’t you talk about crops or something?”
(Encouragingly) “All I kept thinking about, over and over, was ‘You can’t live forever; you can’t live forever.’”
(Amused w/ a chuckle) You’re just embarrassed, that’s all. Daisy’s embarrassed too. Just as much as you are.
Daisy Buchanan is a shallow woman who charms people with her voice but has a disregardful nature. She is considered physically beautiful but is a bored rich woman who is highly materialistic. She is married to her husband Tom Buchanan but starts an affair with Jay Gatsby.
Voice: Enchanting and alluring, with a "singing compulsion"
(Excitedly) “I’m p-paralyzed with happiness!
(Depressingly) “I hope she’ll be a fool – that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”
(Nervously) This was a mistake… I should have never accepted Nick’s invitation. This is so embarrassing…
He has only one line, so I’d like for the audition to count as the final product as well!
(Formally) Good morning, Mr. Carraway. Mr. Gatsby sent me over to cut your grass to-day.
Nick’s Finnish servant. She only has 3 lines, so I’d like for the audition to be the final product as well.
(Calmly) These flowers Gatsby’s greenhouse brought are absolutely gorgeous, although I wish the ones I bought blended nicely with them..!
(Disappointedly) My daisies look too plain next to these roses!
(Offended) I beg your pardon?
A man who works at the delicatessen Gatsby takes Nick to. He only has 3 lines, so I’d like for the audition to be the final product as well.
He speaks gruffly but friendly.
Good afternoon, Gatsby.
Will do.
That’ll be $2.50.
