The God-Thief — Animated Fantasy Saga (YouTube Series)

The God-Thief — Animated Fantasy Saga (YouTube Series)

Project Overview

"The God-Thief" is an animated fantasy saga launching on YouTube — the story of Malachar Vex, the thief who stole fire from heaven itself, told across a planned series of long-form episodes.

We are casting the Narrator — the voice of the entire saga. She is a woman: warm, mythic, intimate, telling the story like she has always known it. This is the lead role of the series.

Pilot scope: 3,560 words (~24 minutes finished), recorded from your home studio, delivered as WAV per scene. Two pickup rounds included. Paid, buyout for this episode with a series option — we intend this to become a recurring role across episodes, and we will agree the per-episode rate with our Narrator up front.

Requirements: female voice, adult (timeless rather than young), broadcast-clean home recording (quiet treated space, no audible room echo or fan noise), reliable turnaround, and a genuine love of fantasy storytelling. Canadian voices warmly welcomed.

Note: performances must be your own human reading. AI-generated or cloned-voice auditions will be declined — this series is being re-voiced precisely because our audience asked for a real voice.

Latest Updates

  • Thank you — a Narrator casting update

Thank you to everyone who has auditioned for The God-Thief, and to everyone following the project.

We want you to know: we have listened to every single submission — more than once. Every audition has been heard carefully. Over the next few days, we will be reaching out privately to the voices we feel may be right for the Narrator, with a short callback read, ahead of our decision when auditions close on October 19.

Auditions are still open until October 19, and we are still screening new talent as it comes in. If you have just applied — or are about to — your audition will be listened to just as carefully, and if a new voice belongs in that final decision phase, we will reach out to them as well.

If you don't hear from us, please don't read that as a verdict on your talent. This story needs one very specific voice, and not being that voice says nothing about the quality of yours. We are grateful to every one of you — and as the series grows, there will be more roles to cast.

One more thing: we are also looking for one versatile actress to voice multiple female lead characters — distinct women, each with her own sound, so real range is essential. If that sounds like you, please DM us here for the details rather than posting in the comments.

Thank you again for lending this story your voices.

LEAD ROLE. Tell it like a story you love, to one person, late at night. The pauses matter as much as the words. Please slate your name and your recording setup at the end, and include one line read a second way — colder, more distant — so we can hear your range.

Voice description:
  • female adult
  • They say you can't steal from a god. Malachar Vex disagreed.

  • The vault had no door... because doors are for places that expect to be entered. It hung in a fold of the heavens, wrapped in wards older than the cities below it, guarded by things that did not sleep, did not blink, did not forgive.

  • He went in anyway. Halfway across the lightless span, it went wrong. A ward woke that should have slept. The air turned to glass beneath his feet... and he did the only thing a great thief can do when the plan dies. He improvised.
