“The First One” – An Audio Drama
Project Overview
We are casting voice actors for a dark, layered audio drama that dives into the fractured mind of a schizophrenic sociopath — and the detective struggling to understand him. High emotional range, strong mic quality, and a cinematic tone are essential.
Some rules/guidelines to note before auditioning-
-Keep in mind, this is a long-term project, so audition with knowing that!
-Please be 18+!
-Have a decent sounding mic, no background noise/a quiet recording space. The mic doesn't need to be professional... just one that doesn't echo/create lots of background noise.
-Please record in ABCABC.
-Please be easy, respectful, and professional to work with.
-Please leave your discord in the comments of your audition! Our main point of communication will be on a discord server, so it is required to have a discord account!
-Last but not least, have fun!

Voice style: Calm, unsettlingly charismatic; switches between charm, deadpan honesty, and chilling outbursts
Personality: A schizophrenic sociopath. Intelligent, articulate, and twisted. He sees murder as something artistic — his actions guided by a hallucinated "girl in the corner" who acts as his warped moral compass.
Performance note: Must balance eerie calm with psychological volatility. Strong monologue delivery and subtle transitions are key.

They don’t like being called that. “Voices” makes them sound like noise. They're people. She's smarter than I am. She knew the first one was right. She whispered: “He stinks of rot inside, Elias. Let’s help him peel.”
Yes. That’s the one. The newspapers said "scene of carnage." You didn’t find the tapes though, did you?
I didn’t sleep for three days. Not because of guilt. Because I couldn’t stop smiling.
Voice style: Firm, mature, composed; with cracks that subtly appear under emotional strain
Personality: A sharp-minded detective who maintains a professional front, even as Elias begins to chip away at her composure. Haunted by his words, yet determined to stay in control.
Performance note: Needs grounded emotional realism. Intensity delivered quietly is more powerful here than shouting.

You said you'd tell me about your first one, Elias. The beginning. Start there.
He wasn’t confessing. He was performing.
He asked me what my last breath would sound like. It wasn’t a threat. It was... curiosity.
Voice style: Analytical, measured, clinical
Personality: Forensic psychologist with decades of experience. Speaks blunt truths without sugarcoating. Sees Elias not as evil — but as a calculated anomaly.
Performance note: Sharp, insightful delivery. Less emotion, more intellect.

That’s typical of narcissistic sociopathy. But what’s more interesting is the delusional component.
That smile wasn’t gloating. It was euphoria.
That’s not impulsivity. That’s… ritual. He’s been refining his technique.
Voice style: Gruff, direct, weary
Personality: A pragmatic department head trying to hold his team together under media pressure. Doesn’t trust Elias — or the growing psychological toll on Hartley.
Performance note: Tough but not caricatured. A grounded authority figure with concern beneath the cynicism.

You look like hell. What the hell was that in there?
He’s a damn freak. But he gave you what we needed.
That’s not the only case, Hartley.
Voice style: Whispery, ethereal, otherworldly
Personality: A hallucinated voice that Elias believes is real. Gentle, melodic, and disturbingly nurturing. She guides him with cryptic phrases like a twisted conscience.
Performance note: Must sound simultaneously comforting and chilling. Think lullabies laced with dread.

We’re not finished, Elias. Not yet.
Don’t stop now, Elias. Keep going until he’s clean.
He stinks of rot inside, Elias. Let’s help him peel.
