The Far Side of Normal Series I UNCUT EDITION (PAID)

The Far Side of Normal Series I UNCUT EDITION (PAID)

Project Overview

(Hello to any returning folks who recognize the title!)

Hi Everyone! This casting call is for The Far Side of Normal project. It is a collection of science fiction/fantasy drama tales consisting of mercenaries, werewolves, vampires, dragons and more. This story will be told across varying formats including audio drama, animations, comics and more. Primarily, and for simplicity's sake, it will be a webseries. It is also being divided across multiple parts (or series, if you will).

To any voice actors looking to join the voice cast, feel free to click the link below:

https://www.castingcall.club/projects/the-far-side-of-normal

Those wishing to join the crew behind the scenes (with audio, visuals, etc) please keep reading.

We're currently looking for a multitude of staff to be used throughout each series (starting with Series I).

As our budget is fixed for the time being, we cannot pay as much as we would like. There may be a kickstarter or something else down the line depending on how the first installment is received. At that time, potential profits earned from that will be divided fairly amongst the cast & crew. All payments will also be made through PayPal.

Overview:

The Far Side of Normal is a collection of science fiction/fantasy drama tales. It is to be divided into three Series, with the first centering on a female mercenary's search for her daughter. In the process she will cross paths with new faces, old friends and stumble across a centuries long feud. It will be told across varying formats including audio dramas, animations, comics and more. Each Series will have its' own set of characters, and maybe some from previous Series may even make an appearance or two.

Deadlines

The deadline is October 15th, 2020. There are no plans to extend this deadline. Should this change, there will be an update. We will notify voice actors & crew as each position is filled. Scripts will be sent out starting in October, with production to begin shortly thereafter.

(10/14/20 UPDATE: THE NEW DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 15, 2020)

ETC.

- First and forest most, please enjoy yourself! Have fun! We're looking for passionate people who are going to relish what they do.

- We are looking for people who are in this for the long haul. Months, years at a time. It's going to take a good long while before this project sees its' conclusion, and we would love nothing more than to keep having our cast & crew come back each time. So yes, this is a long term commitment we're looking for.

- You must have good audio quality and a good microphone. We must be able to hear your voice clearly and with very minimal background noise.

- Please provide examples of your work!

- Please be fluent in English.

- We have a Discord for this project. If you are cast, you must have a Discord in order to join, get information about the project, new scripts, etc. Communication is important. We would love to discuss and hopefully voice chat with each of you! We are also not unreasonable, if need be, we can arrange for Skype, FaceTime or Whatsapp sessions, as well.

- Also of note, currently this project is in the PG-13 category, if possible, it will remain there, but if necessary, this project will become a mature/rated R type project. Please keep that in mind before you consider auditioning. AGES 18 AND UP, PLEASE.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and audition! We hope you can join us for The Far Side of Normal!

- Brendan aka "DarkS1ayer" & co.

Latest Updates

  • Deadline & Production

Remember Remember the 15th of December. Hmmm... Feels a tad off, but I'll work on it. XD Anyway, hello everyone, it's been awhile. Thank you all for your patience! Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates (yet again), sadly, some personal stuff came up in my life that took me away from production of this for a hot minute. Even had to take a break from social media (honestly, I'm glad I did) for a month to reduce the amount of stress & anxiety I've been under. Personal matters aside, though, today is indeed the final day of the deadline. Considering we're at just shy of 1200 auditions (the count is 1195 as I'm typing this), I'd say that's enough to sort through. As you can all see, about half the cast has been found. And yes, I found someone to handle the audio & the music! I couldn't be happier! And some good news! Production has already begun on the first installment. It will be an adaptation of the prologue/prequel ("POWERLESS") I had written some time ago. It's been going well and we even did a table/cold read! It was breathtaking and honestly, I couldn't have been prouder. The plan is still to release it either sometime this month, or next month at the latest. I'm also prepping for the next installments even now. In the meantime, I'll be going through the rest of the auditions and filling the rest of these spots in the cast. I'd like to thank each and every single one of you who have auditioned for this project. Again, it means the world to me that you took the time, made the effort and showed me each of your interpretations of these characters. As I've been going through each audition, I've seen how each of you approach the characters. It never ceases to amaze me. It always makes me smile and brings me more joy than any of you will ever realize. This project for me, is the culmination of 15 years of work, (SO. MUCH. WRITING.) From biographies of characters, to character arcs & story arcs, to dividing this project into multiple parts, to pacing, and everything else involved, including the point we're at now, with casting and bring the visuals & sounds to this project. Getting to this point, has made every year I put all that work into this, more than worth it. So again, thank you. I appreciate all the love, the support, the encouragement, the auditions, even the questions! Love it all. That being said, from now on, the updates might be more along the lines of "monthly". Or every two months, depending how everything goes, and if there's anything substantial to note in the updates. With that, thank you all to everyone who's thrown their hat into the ring, and I'll be in touch! Until next time, peace out Farsiders! - Dark PS - And yes, to all of you who applied for the crew positions, audio, video, composer, etc. This applies to you wonderful lot as well. Thank you all.
  • Update & Deadline

Hello everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates, it's been a bit of a whirlwind month or so for me. Going to be posting this update on both casting calls. First order of business, I will be extending the deadline, this time by two months. December 15th, 2020 will be the deadline for both casting calls as I finish casting roles for FSoN Series I & hiring crew. Secondly, rest assured, I am looking at & listening to all of the auditions. ALL of the auditions. Even if it says it hasn't been listened to, I generally do one of two things: A) I download the audition & listen to it later or B) assuming I have the time at that moment, I listen to it then and there. I will try to do better with providing feedback to each of you. Still trying to figure this out as I go. (BTW, for those who auditioning for the tech side as a member of the crew, I do see you. I haven't forgotten you, I'm slowly but surely making my way to you as well.) Thirdly, same as above for hiring crew for the project. Fourth, production is slowly underway for The Far Side of Normal, did our first table read, and things are coming along nicely. Still aiming for Winter to have this first installment be released, though here's hoping I can get a trailer out before that. Fingers crossed. That being said, thank to my incredible cast for all your hard work, patience, help & so forth on everything thus far. Thanks to all of you, who have provided the 1167 (as of this posting) auditions! A few last things of note: Please read the casting call in its' entirety & be 18+ years of age if you're going to audition for cast or crew! Also, if you're not in this for the long haul, again, don't audition. This is a long-term project. Serious inqueries only, folks. Everyone stay healthy, sane, safe and take care of yourselves!
