The Band Goes to the Evil Forest
Project Overview
UPDATE : Submissions will now be closed on Sunday, the 21st. I’ve gotten a lot of auditions and I’m super appreciative, but need additional time to comb through them!! Please feel free to still audition though!!!
Hi!! This is The Band Goes to the Evil Forest - my Junior year animation project at NYU Film!!
It’s going to be about a minute and a half long and it’s pretty much what it says on the tin. The band goes to the evil forest and Brett and Simón proceed to go missing mysteriously. This leads to Lee confronting a tree in the middle of the forest and challenging it to a guitar battle (à la Scott Pilgrim!) - to which the tree wordlessly accepts. They then have an awesome musical battle that I totally won’t spend an inappropriately long time animating and Lee vaporizes the tree with his truly excellent guitar riffs. Then Brett and Simón are grossly spit up by the forest’s flowers and they go home, day saved!
Deadlines-wise, I’m looking to have the project casted by the end of the month (Jul 31st) and the animatic with V/O done sometime by mid-late August (Aug 14th-28th). However, at this point of production I am still quite flexible, so if anyone needs extensions on these dates please let me know!
Payment : As this is a student film, you will not be paid, though a bonus may be given depending on funds raised for the film alongside if the film is awarded any monetary prizes at festivals. I am genuinely so sorry about this as I’d love to monetarily compensate anyone, but as a 20 yr old in film school this is unfortunately not in the cards right now 😭 I hope you understand !!
Note : Regardless of what character you audition for, I may consider you for the other roles unless otherwise specified by you! Again, just let me know!!
IMPORTANT Pronunciation Note : Be careful on pronouncing Simón’s name as it is pronounced as it would be in Spanish, “sea-mon.” I put a hyperlink there to a pronunciation video just in case as I’m not good at spelling out pronunciations like that, I apologize!!! But please keep this in mind!!!

Lee is the main character! He’s the leader and guitarist of the band and always has some kind of weird idea of what to do with it creatively. He is loud, annoying, impulsive, and a little silly.

(Running away from The Evil Forest) “AUUGHHH!! I DON’T WANNA DIE, I DON’T WANNA DIE, I DON’T WANNA DIE!!”
(Triumphantly) “You there! Thy evil is very... evil, but thou are no match for mine own... sick riff!”
Simón has the least lines in this script but I love him. Coming from a wealthy family, he’s awfully sheltered and anxious, often going against whatever plans Lee has. He’s the bassist.

(Nervous) “I dunno guys... Do we have to go to the Evil Forest?”
(So over it) “I hate the evil forest.”
Brett is the most intelligent of the group, but still goes along with whatever Lee wants to do because he finds him interesting and whimsical. He plays the drums.
