Watch the video above and then read the rest below! (Accidently used my bad mic, turn on subtitles if you like)
This is Spyro the Dragon fan animation done using Unreal Engine 5, featuring multiple adult/elder dragon characters as well as Spyro himself in a rather unusually mundane quest to deliver a mysterious package. It also delves into the day to day activates in the Dragon Realms not seen much in the games the animation is based on.
I'm looking for any voice actor talent open to audition for several roles . The animation is mostly done so you'll have video for reference, even if some of it is still a rough state. Character dialogue is mostly written but there is some room for improv and open to adjusting the animation if need be.
This is the first time I've done collaboration on a project like this and I'm the sole rigging/animator/modeler/etc. for the project so feel free to give input if you wish. I'm generally a very easy-going and patient person to work with.
Due to the nature of the project, the roles are unpaid.
Guidelines for applying
The deadline may be extended depending on submissions.
Here are the guidelines when submitting an audition, please look it over before applying:
1. This is mainly a one-time role for a short-term project.
2a. Make sure your audio is of reasonable quality (minimal background noise/echo, volume is at least above -30 decibels and doesn't clip, pop filter of some kind).
Using a decent microphone is preferred, avoid using things like laptops and mobile devices if possible (unless your mobile has a good microphone, I won't complain lol).
2b. If I feel your audio quality is poor in your audition submission, I'll do my best to provide feedback to help improve it and allow another submission.
3. For audition lines, feel free to submit 2-3 takes per line (ABCABC or AABBCC format, use whichever you like). Avoid sending in outtakes if possible.
4. You need to record and submit your audio files in a useable format (Unreal Engine supports 16-bit WAV, OGG, FLAC). I can convert any submitted files if necessary but having it in one of these formats in advance is ideal.
5a. You must have a Discord account for communication. This is to help make it easier providing feedback, sending files and potentially doing voice calls if needed. I'll attempt to contact you on Discord near the deadline, using the Discord on your profile if you have one, otherwise I'll send a CCC DM with my Discord info.
5b. Once you've been assigned a role, contact me on Discord in a timely manner so we can start working scheduling a time to start recording lines, most likely in a private voice call. Don't be afraid to let me know if you need more time if need be. Otherwise you may be re-cast if I don't hear from you after a month.
5c. We'll most likely do recording session in a private Discord call where I'll be able to screenshare the animation with temp audio for context and to help with voice direction. If need be, I can supply a script and pre-recorded footage in case scheduling a Discord call is an issue.
6. DO NOT use Generative AI for your submission of any kind, doing so will result in immediate rejection. I shouldn't have to say this but you never know these days.
Any interest in this passion project is appreciated, even if you don't get picked, as there's only so much I can do without your support. You'll be credited in the final video when it is uploaded to YouTube. Thanks for your time!
