Sonic the Hedgehog (aka Sonic SatAM) is a cartoon based on the video game series of the same name. It follows the adventures of Sonic and his band of Freedom Fighters as they rebel against the tyrannical Dr. Robotnik. With the 25th anniversary of the cartoon coming up, I've decided to make a short series of little sketches in comic form, to celebrate Sonic SatAM and the following it has built. But I can't do this without some help.
I am looking for talented voice actors and actresses to join our cast here at Shadow Enterprises, a YouTube channel that recently hit 1,000 subscribers. We are Sonic fans producing content for Sonic fans, and we'd love to welcome new blood into the mix. Whether you're a noob or a vet, we don't care. All you need is a passion to act! If you're interested in joining Shadow Enterprises, read below for some basic rules and expectations.
RULES
- Use a decent microphone. Professional microphones are not necessary, at all. I used a cell phone for almost a year before I purchased mine. But we would like smooth, clear audio from you, because that's what our viewers expect. As long as you record in a quiet environment, there's little to no background noise, you should be good.
- Have Skype or Discord. Shadow Enterprises has Skype and Discord chats to keep in contact with each other. Having one or both will allow you to communicate with the cast and crew efficiently. If you're uncomfortable with or incapable of joining group chats, please state so in the notes section of your audition. I do encourage you to join the groups if you get the part (we don't bite :P), but it's not an absolute requirement. If you don't have Skype or Discord, please at least be able to communicate through email.
- Act. You'd think this would be obvious, but sometimes folks need a reminder. Having a good voice only gets you halfway. I'm not looking for perfection, just effort.
- Save all recordings as MP3 files. Title them as the name of your character followed by a period, then your chosen credit name. For example, "SonictheHedgehog.GeekySonic.mp3". This is to help the editor manage all of the files easily. You don't have to do this with the audition recordings, however.
- Behave. We're not professionals here. We're pretty casual together, but we expect good attitudes all around. Should disputes ever arise, bring them up directly and help us solve them. If you're behind schedule, going offline, or just having a bad day, tell us. We will understand, and we will do our best to help you.
- Commit. If you audition for any role here, you are indicating that you are willing to record for a long-term role. The individual comics will not be very long, we're not expecting much from you. You'll maybe have 3 or 4 lines per comic, depending on the character. We just want you to be ready for something that may last a long time. You'll be given a week to record for each comic, but you can ask for an extension if anything comes up. If you absolutely must drop out for whatever reason, we won't hold it against you. We're all humans, and our own lives take priority over a YouTube comic. Just let us know ASAP so we can find a replacement.
- Have fun. We're only doing this for fun. We want to entertain others, and we do that by entertaining ourselves. We want this to feel less like a job or chore, and just something we get to do for fun.
Additional Expectations
- All auditions will go through myself or our director, Shadow18. You may expect feedback from either of us on your auditions.
- I am the writer and cartoonist behind the SatAM comics for this series. I am also currently enrolled in school and in-between jobs. Updates may be infrequent, so I have to ask for your patience if you are cast.
Sally Acorn is a 16 year old Mobian chipmunk, and the daughter of the former king of Mobius. She is the co-leader of the Knothole Freedom Fighters, and uses her wits to act as a strategist for the team. She's a very direct and confident leader, though sometimes lets her uncertainty show in the presence of valued company. She usually speaks very teasingly/sarcastically whenever talking to Sonic.
We've had ups and downs, but you stuck with us through it all!

Bunnie Rabbot is a partially roboticized Mobian rabbit, and the powerhouse of the Freedom Fighters. She's a sweet young woman, very kind and cordial with her friends. She speaks with a Southern drawl.
It's been a real blast, sugah!

Rotor is the mechanic of the Freedom Fighters. He's handy with a tool, but he occasionally also joins the front forces when he's needed.
Oh boy. This should be fun.
Me? Oh, I don't know. I haven't given it much thought. I'll probably just keep doing mechanic work.

Antoine is a Mobian coyote with a French accent. He's a former royal guard, and now a Knothole Freedom Fighter. He's a bumbling fellow who thinks rather highly of himself.
Ah, but moi? I only ever aspire to live out my duty in zhe royal halls of Castle Acorn! Where I shall live and die by zhe sword!

Nicole is Sally's AI companion in portable computer form, and appears through holographic means as a Mobian lynx in the comic books. She's usually very straight and to the point, but gradually develops different speaking tones depending on who she talks to. She's very kind and accommodating, and thanks to the world of information at her fingertips, is very clever.
Calculating chances of critical and financial failure... chances, significant.

Snively is the nephew of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and a secondary antagonist to the Freedom Fighters. He is rather cowardly, and has a high-pitched, nasally voice.
Got you right where I want you. My turn, hedgehog.
