Terranian Skies is a multimedia world-building project by Melody Sardo (me) and Sarah Spielmann (my partner) that follows the many interconnected narratives of Terrania's magical (and musical!) inhabitants. Inspired by games like My Singing Monsters and Skylanders combined with the in-depth lore of League of Legends and The Legend of Zelda, Terranian Skies features a colorful cast of characters that all have their own story to tell. In Terrania, music is magic, so each character also sports a "musical aspect," which is an instrumental/vocal sound they make in order to channel spells, which can be heard in the various songs that will be posted to Terrania's dedicated YouTube channel.
While the series takes many forms, most of which lack a need for voice acting, the release of videos for each character's individual sounds (basically, a stem of that character's instrument, which will all be put together in a full song + music video) means they each have a dedicated intro card, where they say a quick one-liner and their name. Think of the intros for rarer characters in a gacha game, if you'd like a point of reference.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE FOR APPLICANTS!!
This project is VERY small as it currently stands, but it does have something of an existing fan-base, as an older iteration of it was uploaded previously (though most aspects from that version have been scrapped).
Due to the chance a fan of the project finds this page, certain unrevealed characters' names and other specific details are omitted. If you are cast, you will be invited to a development server where I can divulge everything and the process of recording more final voice lines can begin.
When recording, you will likely end up primarily working with my partner (and project co-owner) Sarah, as she has experience in voice-over and will do better at giving direction, but I will also be present and will help as best I can. You will be paid as soon as possible, generally coinciding with the start of these recording sessions.
Any notes given on character performance (accent, vocal range, etc) are left largely in your hands to experiment and have fun with. You have a pretty big say for how the character sounds, we're just going to pick the performance we like the most, so long as it fits the personality given. I hope to see you be creative in your performance(s) and give the character a voice that is truly your own! This also includes sample lines, if you feel confident in it, feel free to improv whatever else you feel fits instead of the given ones!
I'd love to provide a higher pay upfront, but as of right now the budget for this project is extremely limited. I tried to give what I believe is fair based on my consulting of friends who are active in voice-over spaces, but if this ends up being something profitable in the future I would be honored to provide more opportunities to make money (and overall higher rates, I believe mine are somewhat low), be it one-time commissions, royalties, whatever is decided on depending on the specific case.
All that being said - and I'm sorry for my rambling - I am excited to see what people come up with! Maybe it's my optimism, but I hope this can be the start of not only a professional relationship, but a friendship between creatives as we all work to make this world a reality - together!
