Stardew Valley Comic Dubs
Project Overview
Hi there! I'm Nicole, also known as SPD64 on YouTube and other various sites. I'm an artist as well as a (sometimes) voice actor and lately have gotten addicted to the series, Stardew Valley. Because of this, I am wanting to start doing comic dubs on my YouTube channel! This is where you guys come in! I require several voice actors as well as any artists who may also be interested in creating their own comics for us to dub.
RULES (Voice actors):
1) Feel free to audition for more than one character, however it is most likely that you will only be selected for one role.
2) No bad mic quality plz, this includes background noise.
3) Some characters will require shouting/screaming, if you are in an environment where shouting isn't really an option, try going for a character that doesn't shout (this will be listed in the character bios below).
4) I need people who will be able to get lines done ASAP, if you have a somewhat busy schedule where doing lines would be difficult, then please do not audition.
5) Most of the characters require an American acccent, if you live outside the US and aren't able to pull of an American accent, I suggest going for the MCs, as they can be any accent.
6) RESEARCH THE CHARACTER/S YOU'RE GOING FOR. I cannot stress how much better and easier it is when you're voicing a character and have a good understanding of what their character is like, plus it'll make things easier when I give you lines to do. I highly recommend searching up "[Character name here] Heart Event" on YouTube as this is where certain characters' personalities are shown off the most. Don't worry if you haven't played Stardew Valley, just PLEASE research before auditioning.
7) You MUST have either a GMail, active Twitter or Discord so I can contact you when needed.
RULES (Artists):
1) I'm looking for digital comics, not traditional as this will make the comic dubs look nicer and will also be easier when editing the dub.
2) I'm not very picky when it comes to art styles, though I obviously won't accept stick figure comics.
3) Try to make hand writing in comics clear.
4) You MUST have either a GMail, active Twitter or Discord so I can contact you when needed.
5) It doesn't matter if you only do one comic for these dubs, please still feel free to try out anyway! I won't have TOO strict of a deadline for artists as I will also be making my own comics for us to dub.
6) RESEARCH STARDEW VALLEY AND ITS CHARACTERS. This will make creating comics so much easier for you if you are aware of the series and its characters. You don't need to own the game, just look it up and get a feel of the series.
This is a non-profit project and anyone who lands a role or becomes an artist for this must be aware that this is volunteer work.

Stardew Valley allows you to create your own character, so this role is the most flexible in terms of accents and gender. Whilst I will be providing the occasional MC voice, I will need other MC voices, both male and female. You can honestly just use your own voice for this role if it best suits you, just make sure to emote!
This character may occasionally shout, however I will be asking any MC actors who is comfortable with shouting and who isn't once roles are chosen.
I'll be selecting about 4 MCs (two of each gender), one VA will be selected in this role (because that's how Casting Call works lol) and the other three I will message privately to let them know that they also got the role.
(Happy tone) -sigh- What a beautiful day! I better get to work on those crops!
(Embarrassed/talking to their crush) H-Hey, so um....I got you this...I...hope you like it...
(IMPROV: Just say anything else here. Basically you're a farmer who has recently moved to a small town filled with colorful characters. You can say something about farming, say a line as if you're talking to a specific character, anything at all!)
Alex is a young man in his early 20s, who is obsessed with becoming a professional athlete. He can be arrogant but deep down is very loyal and loving to his grandparents, who he currently resides with, due to the loss of his parents. He is good friends with Haley.
For Alex, a stereotypical "jock" voice is fine, though still make him sound somewhat nice/realistic.
This is a character who doesn't shout much, though there is a chance that in one or two comic dubs he will shout.
(Arrogant/bragging) Hey, when I turn pro you can say you were my first "fan". Not bad, huh?
(Curious) There's some weird people living in this town...like that guy Sebastian. Is he a 'goth' or something? I don't understand it.
People stay indoors a lot during the winter, and do boring stuff. Maybe if I read a book, I'd be less bored...nah.
Elliott is an aspiring author who is an old-fashioned romantic. Despite not being very wealthy, he enjoys life and has a tendency to go off on poetic tangents. He is also good friends with Leah.
For Elliott, he can either have an American accent or a British accent. The best example I can think of is J. Micheal Tatum as Sebastian from Black Butler (British accent) or Kyoya from Ouran Highschool Host Club (American accent). Try not to make him sound TOO stereo typically posh.
This is a character who doesn't shout.
(Happy'Greeting tone) Ah, the new farmer we’ve all been expecting…and whose arrival has sparked many a conversation! I’m Elliott...I live in the little cabin by the beach. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
(Embarrassed) I woke up late, stepped out the door, and found myself in the middle of all this hubbub! I forgot that today was the Luau.
(Disappointed) What a shame...we have no respect for nature anymore
Harvey is the doctor of Pelican Town and the oldest bachelor. He has a kind heart and loves to collect model planes, one day hoping to become a pilot, despite being afraid of heights.
For Harvey, I imagine a somewhat timid voice for him, not TOO quiet but just soft-spoken. He's not exactly the most confident guy.
This is a character who rarely shouts, though there might be one or two dubs where he will do.
(Proud) I perform regular check-ups and medical procedures for all the residents of Pelican Town. It's rewarding work.
(Joking, then turning into nervousness) I hate to say this, but I do make a lot more money during flu season. I guess if people stopped getting sick, I'd be out of business. Don't get the wrong idea! I want people to be healthy...really!
(Giving advice) It's okay to get a moderate amount of sunlight. Just don't get burnt. Okay. Take care! Stay healthy.
Sam is the typical guitar-playing skateboarder who loves life and is possibly the loudest member of this cast. He tends to hang out the most with his two best friends, Abigail and Sebastian, Sebastian being his ultimate "bro" despite them being polar opposites. Sam also has a huge disregard for authority, possibly due to his father not being around much for certain reasons.
For Sam, I definitely don't want the stereotypical surfer voice lol. I imagine him to have a somewhat high pitched voice (not TOO much though), with also a slight rasp to his voice.
This is a character that will definitely shout.
(Happy tone) Hi! Do you want to hang out or something? I'm so energized during summer, I hardly have to sleep!
(Snarky) Governor? Who cares...Why should I care about some random old guy?
(Angry) GODDAMMIT! How does Sebastian beat me at this damn game EVERY.SINGLE.TIME?!
Sebastian is an introverted character who tends to keep to himself in his basement, working as a freelance programmer. He often feels underappreciated by his mother, Robin, and step-father, Demetrius, who tend to pay more attention to his half-sister Maru, meaning he often comes across as unfriendly to new people. However, the person he hangs out with and trusts the most is his best friend Sam, despite having to babysit him a lot whenever he does anything crazy. Sebastian is the typical "bad boy" type, owning a motorbike, has ear piercings and even smokes.
For Sebastian, I want to avoid the stereotypical goth/emo voice, whilst he he slightly soft spoken, he can raise his voice at times. I imagine a more deepish voice for this character, not TOO deep though.
This is a character who will shout occasionally.
The Stardew Valley Fair is a little crowded for my tastes... but I'll just hang out with Sam. It'll be good to catch up with him.
(Frustrated) -sigh- No one takes my job seriously...No one ever bothers Maru when she's working at the clinic. Does everyone think that I'm just surfing the web all day?
(Relaxed) Sometimes after sundown, I make the long ride out of Stardew Valley. There's nothing like it, blazing along the empty stretch of road toward the faint city glow...Once I've saved up enough money, I'm going to head out on my own. Just me and my bike.
Shane is the local alcoholic who lives with his aunt, Marnie at her ranch. He spends his time taking care of the chickens there and working at the JoJaMart. In his free time he can be found at the local bar getting drunk. He is similar to Sebastian in the sense that he can come across as unfriendly at times, though he does have a soft spot for his goddaughter, Jas.
For Shane I'm looking for a voice similar to Sebastian but more gruff sounding and also slightly older sounding, not too much older though.
This is a character who rarely shouts.
(Annoyed) I don't know you. Why are you talking to me?
(Relaxed) Life isn't so bad...at least I have frozen pizza and eggs.
I guess I've grown attached to Marnie and Jas. We're a ragtag bunch but it kind of feels like a weird family...I never really had much of a family as a kid.
Demetrius is a scientist who studies the valley's local wildlife. He can often be found working in his laboratory or outdoors taking notes. He is the husband of Robin and the proud father of Maru, his relationship with step-son, Sebastian, however is rocky.
For Demetrius, I'm looking for a typical father voice really.
This is a character who rarely shouts.
(Pondering) We're insulated from the rest of the world here in Stardew Valley...maybe that's a good thing.
(Focused) Let's see...if seasonal nitrogen levels could be molded by a piecewise function....Oh! Sorry. I was analyzing data and didn't notice you there. Do you need anything?
(Proud) Maru helps me out in the lab sometimes, she's a good kid!
Vincent is Sam's younger brother, and is just as mischievous as Sam is. Vincent is often seen playing with his friend Jas or being taught by Penny.
For Vincent just a normal kid voice is fine, both boys and girls can audition for this role.
This is a character who may shout often.
(Happy) You're not as boring as most grown-ups!
(Excited) When does the egg hunt start!? I'm so excited!!
(Annoyed) I'm bored...
George is the typical grumpy old man. He is Alex's grandfather and is married to Evelyn, both who he cares deeply about.
For George, go for an old man voice, though don't make it TOO forced.
This is a character who shouts often.
(Frustrated) Alex is my grandson. Have I told you that already? Huh, speak up.
(Annoyed) That music! It's too loud. Can't I have a little peace and quiet to enjoy the ocean?
(Unimpressed) Hmmph...Wife dragged me out into the cold for this?
Abigail is the rebellious girl of the town as seen by her purple hair that she dyed, despite her parents being very much against it. She is a total nerd for video games and loves to hang out with her best friends, Sam and Sebastian. Abigail also has a talent for playing the flute and has a strange obsession with gems.
For Abigail, I'm looking for a casual sounding voice, maybe with a slight rasp to it too.
This is a character who will shout.
(Curious) What do you think happens to us after we die?
(Relaxed) The valley looks more interesting in the rain...don't you think?
(Slightly disappointed) Oh that's right...I heard someone new was moving onto that old farm." ... "It's kind of a shame, really. I always enjoyed exploring those overgrown fields by myself.
Haley is a girl that values appearance above all else, which makes her come across as quite arrogant. She keeps up with all the latest fashion trends and is good friends with Alex. Not many people know that she has a passion for photography and so loves to take lots of pictures of the wildlife with her camera. She also cares for her sister Emily, despite them being polar opposites.
For Haley I'm thinking of a somewhat valley girl voice, just not too forced.
This is a character who rarely shouts.
(Dismissive) Oh...You’re that new farmer girl/boy, or whatever. Aren’t you?
(Insulting) Hmm... If it weren’t for those horrendous eyes and your ugly face you might actually be pretty cute… Actually, nevermind.
(Relaxed) This festival is alright...but what I'm really looking forward to is the Flower Dance.
Emily is similar to her sister, Haley, in the sense that she cares a lot about the most recent fashion trends. However, Emily is much more humble than Haley and only cares about fashion because she dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Emily is a little bit ditzy and out there, making her come across as slightly weird, however she loves life and isn't afraid to show it.
For Emily I'm thinking of an energetic voice for her.
This is a character that will shout.
(A little frustrated) Haley and I aren't made for such a big house. It's a hassle to keep it clean. Ah, well. I really shouldn't be complaining. Your farmhouse seems nice and cozy.
(Happy) Look out there, at the endless sea. Deep underwater, all kinds of life forms are moving around in the dark. Eerie, isn't it?
(Proud) This house was left in our care by my parents. They've been traveling the world for the last two years
Leah is an aspiring artist who has a large portfolio of work that she has created, yet it too nervous to display it all to the public in fear of rejection. She also loves to spend time embracing nature and often forages for new ingredients to either cook or use in her artwork.
For Leah I was thinking of a voice similar to Abigail's, slightly raspy and kinda deep.
This is a character who rarely shouts, if at all.
(Happy) Maybe I should cook something new and exciting today. Something spicy
If you hear any banging from inside my hut, it's probably just me working on one of my sculptures.
(Happy then guilty) I found some wild fruits this morning!...Sorry, I don't have any left...Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find something
Maru is the daughter of Demetrius and Robin, and the half-sister of Sebastian. She is incredibly intelligent and acquired a passion of creating gadgets from a young age, due to her father being a scientist. However, she mainly spends her time working as a nurse alongside Harvey at the local clinic. Maru is very friendly towards others, even new people and is incredibly ambitious.
For Maru, I'm looking for a younger sounding voice, but with the sense of her having an outgoing personality.
This is a character that rarely shouts can there might be one or two dubs where she will.
(Excited) You know, in a small town like this, a new face can really alter the community dynamic. It's exciting!
(Frustrated) My hair gets so frizzy in this dry weather...-sigh-
(Relaxed) When it rains, I have a good excuse to work on my gadgets all day.
Penny is a soft-spoken young woman who is known as the local tutor, teaching the children, Vincent and Jas, almost every day. She is also the daughter of Pam and often struggles to cope whenever her mother is out drinking. Penny is quite shy and has no grand ambitions other than to get married and start a family.
For Penny, I imagine a timid voice for her, but also quite sweet especially when talking to Vincent and/or Jas.
This is a character who doesn't shout.
(Slightly sad) I'm eager to move out. It's such a burden to be worrying about Mom all the time.
(Relaxed) The raindrops on the roof of our trailer are really loud...but it's soothing.
(Happy) We're lucky to have a library in a small town like this!
Evelyn is the wife of George and grandmother of Alex, both people who she really cares about. Unlike her husband, Evelyn is a much more kind to other people and loves to tend to the community garden, as well as baking.
For Evelyn I imagine a kind old lady voice for her, just don't make it too forced.
This is a character who doesn't shout.
(Happy) Oh my! What a lovely day!
(Thankful) It's nice of you to take the time and visit George and I. Without young people around, we'd age much faster.
(Relaxed) The festival has been a tradition for as long as I can remember. Tradition connects us with both the past and the future...it's comforting.
Jas is a sweet little girl who is the goddaughter of Shane, a man she looks up to a lot. She is often found with her best friend, Vincent, and their tutor, Penny.
For Jas, just a standard little girl voice is fine.
This is a character who often shouts.
(Happy) You smell like grass!
(Relaxed) Did you know Shane's my godfather? He was a friend of my parents.
(Slightly worried) I hope I can find some eggs before Vincent takes them all...
Jodi is the mother of Sam and VIncent. She is kind hearted and is able to juggle cooking, cleaning, shopping and raising two mischievous boys by herself, whilst her husband is away serving in the war.
For Jodi I was thinking of a soft-spoken motherly voice.
This is a character who rarely shouts, if at all.
(Pondering) If I was rich the first thing I'd do would be to hire a maid and a chef. My goodness, that would be nice!
(Happy) Vincent loves this festival...it's a joy to see him so happy.
(Slightly frustrated) Summer is nice, but it also means more work.
Robin is the wife of Demetrius and proud mother of Sebastian and Maru. Unlike Demetrius, she cares a lot about Sebastian, often calling him "Sebby" and worries about his happiness, considering he often spends his days in his bedroom working. Robin is a carpenter and is very proud of her work, especially her house which she built herself. She is a much more "hip" mother than Jodi and Pam, and often embarrasses her children (especially Sebastian) by accident.
For Robin I'm looking for a motherly voice but not as soft-spoken as Jodi's or as gruff as Pam's.
This is a character that will occasionally shout.
(Proud) Have I told you that I built our house from the ground up?
(Happy) You're always welcome to visit us, even if you aren't shopping, you know.
(Slightly worried) I hope Demetrius doesn't blow the house up with those science experiments of his. I'm not even sure what he's working on. I think it has something to do with plants.
Pam is the mother of Penny and is the local bus driver. She is also an alcoholic like Shane and can be found in the local bar or spiking the punch at festivals to "liven things up".
For Pam I'm thinking of a sort of gruff voice for her. Guys, I suppose you're welcome to try out if you want to lol. Just try to make it sound somewhat female.
Pam is a character that will sometimes shout.
(Mischievous) Hehe...I put something nice in to the punch. Shhh....that's just between you and me, kid.
(Curious) Hey, you probably have a lot of tasty grub growin' on your farm, hm?
(Frustrated) Blah....my front yard's a mess.
So I need artists that are interested in drawing out comics for this project. When selected, you'll pretty much be left to think of ideas of what to do, but will have to run it by me first before drawing it all out just to see if it'll be a good comic to dub and to also make sure it's not TOO inappropriate or out-of-character for any of the characters included. More information is listed in the rules above.
