Seeking Crew for Character Animation Shorts (low pressure & creative freedom)

Seeking Crew for Character Animation Shorts (low pressure & creative freedom)

Project Overview

Title: mono no aware

(NO AI WILL BE USED IN THE MAKING OF MONO NO AWARE)

Length: 60–90 seconds per short

Format: Social media shorts / portfolio material

I’m a voice actor putting together a short-form animated series built around natural, comedic conversation.

The concept centers on two classic grey aliens in baggy street clothes. sitting outside at night (smoking and drinking), talking about their life, random thoughts, and low-stakes topics (Adult conversations & Mature language/themes. Not shock humor). The focus is on vibe, delivery, and performance its not on heavy plot or complex animation. The goal is for these shorts to feel relaxed, grounded, and genuinely fun to watch.

I’ll be voicing one of the characters and am looking for:

• One animator (any style, simple but stylish, atmosphere > complexity)

• One additional voice actor for the second character

• One editor (or animator/editor hybrid) to polish pacing and format for shorts

This is a collaborative passion project intended for portfolios, demo material, and social media shorts. I’m not expecting high-end animation, just clean, expressive movement, strong mood, and consistency.

I can provide:

Finished voice audio

Clear direction and communication

Reliable turnaround

Everyone involved will be fully credited and free to use the finished clips in their own portfolios.

I cant offer any anything paid but if this gains any type of profit, it will go directly back to the people helping me. This project is primarily about collaboration, practice, and creating something cool together. (This is a collaborative, low-pressure project, and I’m open to creative input and communication throughout the process.)

Latest Updates

  • Animator Found!

The hunt is complete. We have found our animator.

I want to take a second to genuinely thank everyone who reached out and auditioned for this project. You all are so talented and I loved seeing all the different takes and styles people brought to the table. It made this decision harder than I expected and that's a good thing.

Casting for the remaining roles will be announced tomorrow so if you auditioned for a VA or editor, stay tuned. I’m still building this thing out and the team is coming together.

Mono No Aware is happening. For real. I am beyond excited to bring this to life with the right people around me and I can not wait to show you all what we have been cooking.

    More updates coming very soon.

  • Thank you!!!

Hey there, everyone. I just wanted to say thank you so much for auditioning for my project. It's crazy to think that people are interested in what I'm making and see some type of potential in it. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask And if you are just viewing this project now, don't be afraid to audition!

This series takes place in one consistent location; a backyard at night. The characters remain seated in the same spot for every short. There are no scene changes or location transitions.

The background is intentionally stable and atmospheric. It will remain largely the same across episodes, with the option for small, subtle visual details over time (props, background elements, tiny changes that add personality but don’t distract).

Animation does not need to be complex or high-action.

The focus is on:

Mood and atmosphere

Natural timing

Subtle movement

Expressive faces and small gestures

Limited animation is completely acceptable and encouraged if it serves the tone. Camera movement can be minimal. The goal is for the animation to be pleasant to look at and consistent, not flashy.

All dialogue will be fully recorded and locked before animation begins, so timing and pacing will be clear from the start.

This is a relaxed project where visual consistency and vibe matter more than technical complexity. Creative input is welcome as long as the overall tone stays grounded.

Role assigned to: Um

He’s relaxed, grounded, and conversational - the kind of guy who can sit outside at night and talk about anything and nothing at the same time. The performance should feel effortless and natural, like two friends killing time rather than performing a script.

This role is about:

Natural conversation

Comfortable pacing

Genuine reactions

pausing, interrupting, riffing

Tone & Energy:

Chill, laid-back, believable

Late teens to early 20s vibe (stoner)

Not exaggerated or “cartoony”

Feels like a real person, not a character voice

Improvisation may be lightly encouraged once chemistry is established, but clear direction and structure will always be provided.

cast offsite

I’m looking for a video editor to help shape the pacing, timing, and overall flow of a short-form animated dialogue series.

Each episode will run 60–90 seconds and is built around natural conversation, pauses, reactions, and chemistry. The editing style should feel relaxed and intentional, letting moments breathe rather than cutting aggressively.

This role will involve:

Editing completed animated footage and synced dialogue

Tightening comedic timing and conversational rhythm

Formatting clips for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels

Light polish only (no heavy effects, no over-editing)

Maintaining a consistent style across episodes

The goal is for the edit to feel invisible; clean pacing, good timing, and strong flow that supports the performances.

This is a collaborative project, not a high-pressure production. Clear communication, consistency, and a feel for dialogue-driven content matter more than flashy visuals.

If this collaboration goes well, I’d like to keep this editor on for an ongoing series.

Clean dialogue, subtle ambience, and consistency are the priority.
