Rurouni Kenshin - Manga Fandub (Season 1)
Project Overview
Welcome all to my new Rurouni Kenshin Manga Dub! I'm a huge fan of the series, and It was disappointing to see the Hokkaido arc not get an anime adaptation. But this time I want to dub the entire manga, start to finish. This will be season 1, basically everything before the Kyoto Arc. Here are the rules for the casting:
1) Join the Discord Server! Im always going to be looking for extras and new characters as this'll be a long running series! So even if you don't get roles here there might be something available there! LINK: https://discord.gg/kcxXfUd
2) You must have a good microphone, minimal background noise or atleast removed through editing.
2) Please be able to submit your lines on time, or at least in a timely fashion. If there's something going on I'll definitely understand and we'll work something out.
3) You don't have to necessarily sound like the media blasters dub VAs, remember being a voice actor is also being creative. But if you'd like to audition as an impression I don't mind at all. The delivery is still the most important part, just keep that in mind.
4) The way I'll be giving you the lines is the Manga pages themselves. So even if you haven't watch Rurouni Kenshin, or are familiar with it, you can gain knowledge through this dub!
4) It's a fun project and a team effort that we wanna see come to life! Editors are also welcome! If you think you have something to bring to the table don't be afraid to speak up!

Kaoru Kamiya is one of the main protagonists of Rurouni Kenshin. She is the main instructor in the Kamiya Kashinn Dojo. She is a strong girl and is always supportive of Kenshin.
Again, no need for an impression, but just try to sound like a teenager to young adult.

Yahiko Myojin is an orphan, he was taken in by Kaoru and is being trained in the Kamiya Kashin style as an apprentice. He looks up to Kenshin and aspires to be as strong as him.
He needs to be able to sound like a kid, Male or Female actors are welcome to try!

Sanosuke Sagara is a lead character in the series. Sanosuke is a former member of the Sekihotai When the group is destroyed by the Meiji Government,, he becomes a fighter-for-hire to calm his anger by fighting. During his introduction in the series, he encounters the wanderer Kenshin, who easily defeats him and is able to convince him to stop his mercenary work and instead start protecting people. After that encounter, Sanosuke becomes Kenshin's best friend as well as his partner in most of their fights.
(I do like Lex Lang's interpretation of the character, but a good guide for filling the role of Sanosuke is to sound like a cool and confident young adult)

Futae no Kiwami! (Pronounced: Foo-tai-no-ki-wah-me)
Saitō Hajime is the former captain of the third unit of the Shinsengumi, a manslayer, and currently a special agent for the Meiji Government's Department of Internal Affairs. Having a long-standing rivalry with Kenshin since their days on opposite sides of the Bakumatsu, Saitō nevertheless holds a begrudging respect for Kenshin and has come to his aid on assignment more than once, acting as a ruthless ally and the voice of cynical reason in Kenshin's major battles.
(Saito has a deep voice and is very calm and collected. He also has a intimidating tone to his voice as well)

Aoshi Shinomori is the genius young leader of the Oniwaban group He became the leader of the Oniwaban at the age of 15 on the recommendation of Okina. Known to his followers as the "Okashira", Aoshi's skills in combat, stealth and reconnaissance are the best. Having missed his chance to gain glory for the Oniwaban during the Bakumatsu, he led a group of his men in serving as enforcers for the wealthy industrialist and opium dealer Takeda Kanryū in the hopes of finding a new battlefield in the Meiji era.
(Aoshi , just like Saito has a deep voice and is very calm and collected. He also has a intimidating tone to his voice as well)

Takani Megumi is a secondary character in the Rurouni Kenshin series and the main cast's primary physician after her appearance. Born into a prominent and dedicated family of doctors in the province of Aizu, Megumi was left alone after the death of her father and the disappearance of her mother and older brothers. After becoming a medically proficient in her own right, she became the assistant of a doctor secretly making drugs for the industrialist Takeda Kanryū. Attempting to escape, Megumi was tailed by Kanryū's men and fled to the protection of Himura Kenshinand the Kamiya dojo. Though hoping to journey back to Aizu to find her family, Megumi remains on call in Tokyo after her freedom is restored in order to support the people who rescued her.
(Megumi sounds like a decently young woman, even though she is an adult, she has a calm demeanor)
This is the path I chose to live and Sir Ken was the person who showed me this path I've chosen to follow
I plan to walk the path of medicine. I'm doing everything I possibly can to deal others and that's how much I truly care about Kenshin.
I think it's you who shouldn't take me so lightly! Listen to me, Kaoru. I became a doctor to help as many people as possible to atone for the sins I've committed.
We need a singer for the First OP of Rurouni Kenshin as a cover. Please submit your auditions here.
Any part of the first Rurouni Kenshin Opening, English Version (Freckles) will be used for the dub, but your audition can also be the Japanese Version (Sokabasu) It won't affect any casting decision.

I need a co-director for the series to help me make sure this goes as well as possible. Such as casting opinons and options, pointers, reminders and other things. Udō Jin-e was a hitokiri for the Shinsengumi during the Bakumatsu who became bloodthirsty post-war and a major antagonist of the Tokyo Arc.
Jin-e is a very menacing villain. Try to be intimidating and sinister, like someone with a bloodlust for revenge or battle.

Hiruma Gohei (比留間 伍兵衛) and his older brother, Hiruma Kihei, plot to take over Kamiya Kaoru's dojo. After her father died, Kihei collapsed in front of her dojo and she took him in. Kihei became kind of a live-in apprentice and kept asking her to sell her dojo. Gohei, a former samurai, became a murderer under the false name of Hitokiri Battōsai. When Kaoru begins to discover the truth, Kihei and Gohei try to kill her but Himura Kenshin saves Kaoru, beats Gohei and scares Kihei to unconsciousness.
Gohei requires a slightly raspy manly voice, try to be intimidating.
