(NEW ROLES) Rise of the Planeteers (A Fan-Made Captain Planet Reboot)
Project Overview
PLEASE READ
Captain Planet was a beloved cartoon back in the 90's. It was about five teens chosen by Gaia and gifted the power of the earthly elements to help save the planet from polluting villains. With the powers of earth, fire, wind, water, and heart, they combine their powers to summon Earth's greatest hero, Captain Planet.
As a fan of the cartoon, I've been wanting a reboot for a long time. So, why not make one myself? I need talented, passionate, and dedicated artists and voices for this passion project. You don't necessarily have to be a fan of the show.
There will also be plenty of roles in the future.
Story
The plot of the reboot is vastly different from the original. The show focuses on the kids as they learn to be Planeteers and help the planet so they can summon Captain Planet. It's a coming-of-age superhero story with more subtle environmental messages.
Requirements
- You must be 18 or older
- You must have a clear, good-quality microphone (no clips, no bg noise, etc)

Payment
I understand that art is a time-consuming process, so I would like to negotiate in private a fair price for your skills. Keep in mind, I don't expect on making a profit from this project, payments will be coming out of pocket, so while I intend to pay you what you're worth, I may have to pay little by little. Thank you for understanding.

The ideal runtime for this project is roughly 12-20 minutes long. I need experienced animators and storyboard artists. You are free to work with whichever program you’re most comfortable with, as long as quality content is provided. I’m not necessarily looking for 20fps (in fact, I’m perfectly fine with colored animatic-type animation to fit with our budget), but at least some movement is required. You must also provide examples of your work.

Character:
Gaia is the motherly Spirit of the Earth. After a century-long nap, she wakes up to discover her precious planet in peril by irresponsible humans. She puts her faith in five mortal teenagers, chosen by the Rings, to help save Earth.
Voice:
I need an actress who captures the godly, regal, but also motherly, voice of Gaia. She differs from the Greek mythology figure, but she does possess a mysterious side that she knows a lot more than she shows.

- *After waking up to find humans carelessly polluting the planet* (disappointed but not surprised) It's those poor, silly humans again. They're gonna destroy my planet if they keep going on like this. What's a mother to do?

Character:
Chosen by the Earth Ring, Kwame is a 17-year-old boy from West Africa, and the leader of the Planeteers. He adopts a responsible older brother persona almost instinctively. He's headstrong, patient and keeps his teammates grounded. Although he strives to make his younger teammates into better future adults, he often forgets that he, himself, is young.

The ideal voice for Kwame is stern and serious but is also able to crack a snarky reply once in a while. (Mostly aimed at Wheeler when he's being impulsive, which is often) He also has a thick African accent.

Chosen by the Fire Ring, Wheeler is a 16-year-old Planeteer from North America (Brooklyn, NYC). What he lacks in knowledge about the environment, he makes up for in street smarts. He's a smart-aleck, reckless, and a bit of a show-off, but his heart is always in the right place. Although he has the shortest fuse of his team, his fiery energy is mostly fueled by passion rather than anger, and often shows his violent side towards villains and anyone who threatens his friends.

The ideal voice for Wheeler is dynamic, cocky, and, sarcastic. A kid that raised himself on the streets of Brooklyn and fights muggers. Needless to say he has a Brooklyn accent.

Chosen by the Wind Ring, Linka is a 15-year-old girl from Eastern Europe (Russia). She's a no-nonsense strategist and computer expert. She likes to be in charge and faces any problem with a calm and collected attitude. She's logical and book-smart, although she has a difficult time admitting to herself that she doesn't have all the answers all the time.
Voice:
The ideal voice for Linka is cold, modulated, and often blunt with a thick Russian accent. Although she raises her voice when she's frustrated or upset.

Character:
Chosen by the Water Ring, Gi is a 16-year-old girl from Asia (Japan). She's bubbly and very passionate about sea life and creatures, especially dolphins. Although she often likes to go with whatever her teammates are planning, she will impulsively dive straight into trouble if sea life or her friends are in danger. She can be stubborn at times but it mostly comes from a place of passion. She also has a light-hearted sense of humor and will often make quick remarks at comments.

The ideal voice for Gi is warm and bubbly like she has a smile on her face at all times or is thinking of a joke. She also has a Japanese accent.

Chosen by the Heart Ring, Ma-Ti is a 12-year-old Kayapo boy from South America (Brazil). He's optimistic and well-mannered, although he often likes to accompany Wheeler with light-hearted pranks. He's always eager to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone who needs it, even if they're supposed to be his enemy. He often makes decisions based on gut feeling and relies on his teammates for logical solutions.
Voice: (These are mostly demos from the original pilot and not lines from the actual reboot)
The ideal voice for Ma-Ti is warm and boyish like the wide-eyed child he is. He also has a thick Brazilian/Portuguese accent. (Fun fact: Although the Kayapo people have their own native language, various groups can speak Portuguese, depending on how often they interact with outsiders.)

Character:
Luther Plummer is one of the main Eco-Villains in the series. He’s a suave business tycoon who's motivated by money and pride, and his unethical conduct earns him the nickname “Looten Plunder”. He also represents the evils of corrupt capitalism.
Voice:
Plunder is charismatic, manipulative, and often petty. He always has a smug look to show he’s always one step ahead of anyone who opposes him, even if he isn’t. The ideal voice for Plunder is calculating and egotistical with a hint of poison, even when he’s acting friendly.
Lines:
- *meeting the Planeteers for the first time* “Hello there, children. What, may I ask, are you five doing in my office? I don’t believe I scheduled a field trip with the Cub Scouts."
- "A wolf dons the guise of sheep. But a true predator dons the shepherd."

Character:
Dr. Barbara Blight is one of the main Eco-Villains in the series. She's a cunning mad scientist who uses her research and knowledge for unethical experiments, either for her own pleasure or to prove that it can be done.
Voice:
The ideal voice for Blight is toxic and alluring, like a snake inviting her prey into her jaws. She also likes to inhale toxic fumes, so she may have somewhat of a smoker's voice.
Lines:
- "My experiments will improve the nature of this world!"
- "MAL, baby, do me a favor. Eliminate those brats."
- (talking to herself) "Hypothesis: Those Planet-brats would make great guinea pigs."

Character:
Mame Slaughter is one of the minor Eco-Villains in the series. She's the matriarch of an infamous poaching family, the Slaughters. She and her son, Stalker, were hired by Plunder to eliminate the Planeteers. The Slaughters seek the thrill of the hunt, rather than monetary gain.
Voice:
The ideal voice for Mame is cold and rough but tends to become maniacal when the thrill of the hunt gets to her. She also speaks with an American southern accent.
Lines:
- (shooting rapidly) "C'mon, Stalker, it's an elephant! How big a target do you need?!"
- "Ahh, you want us to kill somethin' on two legs. Well tough luck, money bags. That ain't our business anymore."
