Rhythm Heaven: Rythmysteries!
Project Overview
What a title, am I right?
Anyways, what's a "rhythmystery", and what's with all the y's?
"Rhythm Heaven: Rhythmysteries" is some sort of alternate universe visual novel-esque thing based on everybody's favorite game series nobody really cares about... Rhythm Heaven(they're by Nintendo!)!
What's the plot?
This thing takes place in Rhythm City, a town home to a whole slew of whacky characters (shout-out to Courtney, the floor from Rhythm Heaven Minigame "Fruit Basket"). The main characters are the Lieutenant and his assistant Kev, a duo of not-so-great detectives trying to make it up the ranks of "detectivity", whatever that means. From finding a pair of missing radio show hosts, to solving a case of factory blackouts, and like, loads of other things. Cool!
But why?
I don't know, this whole thing was based on the Police Car Rhythm Toy from Rhythm Heaven Fever (take a shot every time the word "Rhythm" is said). I thought "hey what if this thing was a bit more fleshed out and included a bunch more characters for no apparent reason" and I concocted this abomination.
So yeah, that's all I really have to say about this so uh.... Balls.
(oh yeah please ignore the glaring typo in the project image I whipped it up in like 5 minutes sorry)
(Also don't worry this will be drawn with like hands and stuff this is just so you have a clue on what these guys look like)
(Oh and also the Lieutenant is never seen and the Monkey Watch Salesman is a completely new character so that's why they have that as their pics I'll stop with these parentheses now)

The Lieutenant may not be that good of a detective, but he's always willing to solve a case, no matter how simple or complex. Ever since he was a child, he's always wanted to become one of the greatest detectives in the world, and luckily, due to the influx of weirdness in Rhythm City, he has the ability to prove himself.
For some reason, I imagine sounding like Patrick Warburton, but less deep.
You did good Kev. How's about we get some footlongs? It's on me.
Kev isn't really the greatest detective (well, to be fair, this is just a summer job), but what he lacks in detective skills, he sure makes up in questioning. While the Lieutenant is searching the scene for clues, Kev is the one to ask people about info. Although sometimes, they like to switch it up. It almost never goes well.
It should also be noted that he's always had high grades in Reading classes. This may explain why the city's "Library Pep Squad" is always clamoring about how "dreamy" he is.
Kev, being only around 16-17, sounds pretty young. I imagine him sounding like a slightly younger version of Goku (not like kid Goku, but just a few years younger)
Hmmm... This fork is looking a little suspicious. Maybe it's the way it's positionined?
The Barista runs Rhythm City's local cafe, a place where people can relax and drink coffee until their heart stops. He's always down for a chat, and is the one who insights the Lieutenant and Kev about possible cases.
The Barista would probably sound pretty chill and laid back, with a slight bit of sarcasm to his voice.

It's like what my mama told me. "in life, there are two roads, and one of them's probably in desperate need of prepare."
Ah, Karate Joe. He's like your normal average Joe, except he does karate. He's always dreamed of becoming soccer player, but his dad insisted that he becomes a martial artist like him. He still lives in his father's basement.
Joe is a pretty easygoing guy, and is good friends with the Lieutenant and Kev.
Joe himself should sound like a pretty normal dude. Like the guys you would see in an office job.
Hey uh, this is Karate Joe. I won't be able to pick up right now. Just leave a message after the "Hadouken!".
"Ra, rah, sis-boom-bah! Let's go read a bunch of books! Yay!"
That's just a taste of what the Rhythm City High School Library Pep Squad has to offer. These bubbly bibliophiles are the most knowledgeable of all the cheer-reading* groups in the country. These girls aren't that respected in the city as they would like you to believe. They're the reason why almost nobody(well, nobody except them) studies in a library anymore, instead hitting the books at the park.
If you're wondering, these well-read ladies are totally into boys, reading, and especially boys that are into reading. Explains why they go crazy whenever they see Kev.
*A cheer-reader is a person, usually female, that encourages studying through chants. They are NOT to be confused with cheer-leaders.
oh, and for their voice, they sound like this. (demonic stuttering not required)
And also, since there's like, a dozen or so girls, a few people will get the chance of passing the audition! Cool!
Oh my God. Did you see that boy over there? He had this like, book about Bruce Lee! Squee!
Stephanie is the leader of the Rhythm City High School Library Pep Squad, and, as Kev would put it, "the most sane of them all". For being a leader of the most prodigious cheer-reading group there is, she's actually not really that into books, saying "I guess my leadership skills and knowledge led me into this role, I suppose."
For her voice, Stephanie would sound like the regular cheer readers, but more soft spoken
I'm not like other girls. I have snake arms.
A totally not shady character who definitely does not have ties with the not-at-all evil Monkey Watch company. But what is a monkey watch, you ask? Well, it's a "toy" not made using monkeys genetically bred to be as small as a dime (that would be crazy unethical!), will bring happiness to those who wear it (trust us, we asked professionals!) and will tell you the time (if you can read monkeys, that is)!
The salesman would have a stereotypical boastful salesperson voice, like the one who would sell you a "lightly used" car that was actually used in a high speed police chase 'round a city.
Need some money fast and soon? Then buy our box of paper slips!
Kasuke and Kosuke are two bird buddies who host Rhythm City's own radio show.
Kasuke, the crow, is seemingly always ticked off, donning a "I really wish I weren't here right now!" kind of expression whenever he gets the chance. He states that it's just a character, but others would disagree...
Kosuke, the vulture, is Kasuke's partner in crime, if the crime in question is hosting a radio show and cracking horrible jokes. His eyelids are always half open, giving off "stoned out of his mind" vibes from onlookers. Don't worry, he's never lifted a weed in his life. (or has he....?)
Kasuke, fitting his personality, would sound pretty angry, like someone who could snap at any moment.
Kosuke would have some sort of surfer dude accent, and usually drags out his "oo"'s (like in "spoon" or "dude").
P.S. you don't have to audition for both at the same time!
Kosuke: Hey dude, wanna know something cool? we're like, in a simulation! We don't even have control over our bodies, bruh!
Kasuke: If I wasn't bound to this contract, I would slap you so hard.
A demon from ancient times that feeds on the anguish of living beings. He was originally sealed away a few thousand years ago, but somehow, somebody released him from his prison, and now, he's hosting a gameshow. Well, it's not much of a game show and more of a "let's see how stressed I can make the poor sap who decided to compete in today's episode" show.
I'm not really sure about Q. Maou's voices so just do what you see fit for him.
Today's million dollar question is... "How many holes in a polo?"
The best Rhythm Heaven character don't at me
Courtney resides near the Rhythm City High School basketball court, bouncing whatever's thrown past the fences. Most people are creeped out by him, but weirdness be damned, my boy can shoot!
Also, fun fact: Courtney doesn't know what tables are.
For his voice, something akin to Homsar from the Homestar Runner series would work.
(I genuinely don't know what to put here just make something up I suppose)
Like Kev, the Reporter's notable for her questioning skills. Unlike Kev, she's not able for all the wrong reasons. Most of the time she'll stumble on her words, go on unnecessary tangents on basically anything, and on a few occasions insult the person she's talking too. She's usually seen around sport fields interviewing various athletes about their sports. She's also been developing a sort of "interest" with Courtney...
Possible innuendos aside, The Reporter, being pretty young, should sound pretty young. I imagine her with a slight valley girl accent, too.
I'm here, right now, with the one and only, Gerard Way of the Los Angles Lurkers!
Ok, so Rythm Heaven has a lot of characters. Like, a lot. Due to the sheer amount of them (most of them not really having a significant role in this thing, anyways) I decided "hey, what if I lump everyone else here?", and that's what I did.
Since there's like, loads of characters, I don't think I'll be able to fully explain what they should sound like. Just list off what character you're voicing as, do a line or two, and that's it, I suppose.
(insert character line here)
