Percy (he will /cut/ you if you call him Percival) is the protagonist of Retcon. He's a first-year law student and is the biggest procrastinator known to man. He has a tendency to panic extremely easily, and will often find himself in unfavourable situations. His emotional intelligence is off the charts. He has a strong hatred for capitalism and conventionalism, calling them the two 'Deadly Cs', and plays drums in a band. He thinks he's pretty cool. He's not cool.
No. Absolutely, utterly and completely, no way am I going to just climb up there! Do you think I'm nuts? There could be like, poison gas, or zombies or machine guns or something! No.
W-wait, wait! You're telling me that when you just got told that some organisation literally implanted some creepy computer into your brain, you just kind of rolled with it? Is everyone here on drugs? Jesus, I signed up for the wrong job.
That made me think of this one time, when Marlene, Molly and I took a trip to Portugal. I got pulled aside at the airport because they thought my belt was a bomb. I thought the girls would be worried, but they just pissed themselves laughing at me when I got back to them. I was annoyed at the time, but looking back, I kind of miss that memory.
Percival Alexander Simmons, you are going to tell me what is bothering you right now, or so help me god, and I going to punch you right in the face!
This is the absolute /worst/ thing that could have ever happened. Jeez. Can't a homegirl get some sleep around here?
Is that blood? Why is there blood there? Is this part of the puzzle, or is this real?
Oliver, the third and final member that makes up the 'protagonist trio' is extremely emotive. While his overall demeanour can come across as a bit grumpy (and very sarcastic), he actually has a very strong social intelligence and, when people get to know him better, a knack for terrible puns. After starting off on the wrong foot with Percy and Marlene, it takes a while for him to trust them. He can get really easily aggravated and has a bit of a short fuse, but he'd never actually hurt anybody, and under the tough shell is just a stubborn, fiercely loyal guy. He's been told that he dyed his hair pink himself, but he struggles to believe that. Truly the greatest mystery of the podcast.
I don't have to be your friend, do I? Like, yeah, I have to be perfectly civil, and get along with you, but I'm under no obligation to get all buddy-buddy just because we're teammates.
Wh- wait. It's /pink/? What the fuck? Why the hell is my hair pink? It's supposed to be black! Who did this? How'd they do it? Why did they pick PINK?
Nah, I don't talk to them very much anymore. I mean, I'm not sure they even remember me. But it's cool. I mean, now I have an excuse, I guess. (Short laugh) 'Hey, sorry I didn't talk to you, I was stuck in some ****ed-up experiment' sounds valid, right?
NERI is the AI implanted into Percy's brain. They give Percy most of the details of the experiment, like rules, status updates and emergency instructions. While NERI is extremely cheeky and irritating, they have a very short attention span, and ends up having to 'hibernate' a lot of the time.
NERI should have a very kooky, fairly high voice, with boundless energy and a cheeky laugh.
NERI. That stands for something, but I can't really remember. Neuro-something. I like the name better than the acronym. It makes me sound funky
I would say that that's a bad idea, but I've been programmed to be completely impartial, so I'm going to keep quiet and do nothing. But it's still a bad idea.
So, apparently you have to pick a box. I have no idea what's in them, but I'm gonna say that you should pick the green one, because it's hella ugly and it's probably got something nasty in it.
Anäis is another participant of the experiment, in a separate group. She is easily anxious, and is fairly friendly with Percy, despite the fact that they're competing against one another. She seems easily scared.
I don't like it here. It's too cold, and the echoes seem to take ages to come back to me. It feels like we're somewhere else entirely.
Yeah, you seem sorta cool. I mean, I can't gauge your true ranking on the 'coolness' meter until we actually hang out more. For now, it's 'sorta cool'.
Sorry about freaking out earlier. I just really don't like it here. It makes me feel on-edge.
Carter is also a member of another group, and while he comes across as very shallow, he proves himself extremely intelligent during the puzzles. He ends up on the bad site of his teammates when he helps Percy out in a challenge. A wholesome guy.
Dude, I'm like, not sure we should be here. Did we sign up for the right study? I'm not too sure I asked for some spooky robot in my head.
Get up there! Now! Dude, hurry, or you're gonna be screwed.
I don't like how they're pushing us against each other. Bros help bros out. That's just it.
