Rage of the Unsung - Magic Story Audio Drama
Project Overview
As Wizards of the Coast continues to release their weekly Magic Story updates, it is our goal on the Voice of All podcast to bring these stories to life through audio.
The Ravnica Allegiance stories have begun! Just like the previous set we have small vignettes of life on Ravnica. This week we a follow Arrus, a Gruul tattoo artist who's trying to find a cause worth fighting for. Our main character is also our narrator this week so if you are prepared for that, read on! You can check out this story in full here:

If you're interested in hearing our past works, you can listen to all of them here:

We can also be found on Soundcloud, Stitcher, YouTube, iTunes, and Google Podcasts! We are looking to keep up with the release of Wizards' stories as best as possible and will release our version the second following Friday, so expect to be cast this week and have your lines to me within a few days.
As a general casting note, I do not typically have any voice requirements in mind for characters. I would much rather hear your interpretations and choose from among them.

Arrus is a tattoo artist for the Gruul clans. The Gruul are anarchistic, anti-civilization, and very angry, trying to protect what little land is still theirs, still natural, in an ever-more industrialized world. Most Gruul feel rage about some grievance that drives their quest, but Arrus does not. He's small, weak, fawning. But once he does find his calling, no one will stop him from saving what he cares about.
Arrus is also the narrator of this tale, so in addition to his in character lines, you will need to read narration for the story - about 16 pages (~6500 words) in total.
"Dryzek is a legend! You remember when we were kids, gathering around the fire and listening to stories about how he pounded his fist into the middle of a town square and made all the buildings topple?"
"What are you talking about? I Rage all the time. Every day, nearly. So, so angry." [Trying and failing to fake it]
[Narration test] The hydra enrages at the sight of the ogre, hissing and spitting. You haven't seen Rage until you've seen a mother hydra protecting her clutch. The beast rears back, but right before it strikes, the ogre starts humming a low-pitched note, her arms waving back and forth in a hypnotic motion. At the tip of her prosthetic, she skillfully balances a thick, oblong skull. Goblin, probably. Within seconds, she's got all the hydra heads mesmerized. And then carefully, the ogre pulls a chunk of meat from the pocket in her apron, tucks it inside the skull, and launches the skull into the dark depths of the cave. The hydra breaks from the trance and chases after it.
Arrus's brother Jiri is bigger, stronger, more active in the clan. He participates in raids and tries to keep his brother out of trouble where he can.
"Good battle today. Eighteen blocks destroyed."
"I'll side with the winner. You'd do best to do the same. I've seen the way you look at him. He's just a Gruul like any other Gruul."
[laughing, mockingly] "Didn't you notice? We're at war. Ruric and Thar don't have time to look at grass and bone."
Ruric Thar is a two-headed ogre and the chieftain of the Ghor Clan. Large, extremely powerful, and very angry. The two heads Ruric and Thar act as separate individuals sharing the same body. Of the two, Ruric is the more impulsive, eager to smash any problem set before him.
Ruric Thar is an important character on the world of Ravnica. Should you be cast for the role, you may be called upon to reprise it in the future. In fact, we are planning to also work on an older story simply titled Ruric Thar while we do this project.
"I suppose I could use your scrawny bones as toothpicks. Who says we're uncivilized, see?"
"If Selesnya wants a war, we'll give them a war!"
"Why me? You were always Mom's favorite, with her storytellin' and mumblin' and such. Didn't the Old Ones have an answer for everything?" [taunting Thar]
Ruric Thar is a two-headed ogre and the chieftain of the Ghor Clan. Large, extremely powerful, and very angry. The two heads Ruric and Thar act as separate individuals sharing the same body. Of the two, Thar tends to think things through and plan ahead more than Ruric. Not that he's particularly bright either, but at least he has a concept of strategy.

"It is undeniable that your Rage has stoked a much-needed fire in the clan. And we are honored to have you fight among us."
"Oh, sure, that's your answer to everything. We need a strategy." [taunting Ruric]
"Do you want to fight, or do you plan to bore us to death with your words?"
Dryzek is an old, wise giant. Over 800 years old, he's seen many, many battles. He knows what it is to find a cause worth fighting for and how to use that spirit. While others expect him to try and take over the tribe, he is also wise enough to know when it's best to pick a fight.
"The way everyone is avoiding me, I was thinking we weren't welcome among Ghor Clan anymore. Seems like I could raze all of Ravnica and still not fall into Ruric Thar's favor."
"I'm eight hundred and thirty-something years old, Arrus. I know Rage when I see it, and that ain't it. But it'll find you. Took me a hundred and six years to figure out what I was mad about."
"A token, my chieftain, of my loyalty to Ghor Clan. May your Rage ever guide us toward destruction."
Baas is an ogre who currently works as a tattoo artist. She uses her prosthetic limb to carefully apply her paints. She used to be a warrior, but after a stint in prison, she found out her mate was cheating on her, so she does this instead to avoid him. She's smart and extremely capable, and also an excellent teacher.
"Hey there, slick. What can I do for you?"
"That one wasn't me. I'm partial to crushing dams and bridges, not bones." [glaring at Arrus] "Unless someone's asking for it."
"I just got out of Wargate, slick. Need some time to get my head right, and I'm afraid that doesn't involve getting everyone all riled up about the potency of maaka scat."
