This is a fandub project that I am undertaking as a means for learning what it takes to be a good Voice Director. Further details about my personal goals are discussed in the "About Me" section below. As a fandub, this production is not paid for, or intended to be used in a professional setting.
My choice for a fandub is Prologue 4 of Project X Zone 2. I chose it because it's a relatively short and self-contained scene of one of my favourite games that nonetheless possesses a lot of varying characters and emotion within it. Although I do plan on syncing the voices to a game recording and uploading it to my YouTube channel, I am NOT currently planning on producing anything as grand as a fandub for the entire game (although I am more than open to creating more fandubs in the future).
Please also note that much of the dialogue in this scene is a lot of short, back and forth-type conversations, leaving out a lot of context. As such, I have added in extra lines to many characters' audition lines, based on what I feel is a natural evolution of the dialogue. Hopefully, this will give you more of a chance to display your acting talent.
What is Project X Zone?If you have never heard of Project X Zone, it is a 3ds strategy RPG that's main selling point is being a massive inter-company crossover between Capcom, Sega, Bandai Namco and Nintendo as well! Featuring characters from fan-favourite franchises, including Street Fighter, Megaman X, Tales of, Yakuza, Fire Emblem, and more, there's no stopping the crossing of zones!
Project X Zone 2 is the sequel to first Project X Zone (also on 3ds). Uniquely, both games are treated as 'canon' within their own universes, meaning that every character that was present for PXZ1 remembers the events that transpired during it.
As such, to simplify explanations, assume every instance of characters from different universes acting as if they know each other and mentioning crossing worlds are due to said events happening in the original Project X Zone.
Rules and Guidelines:In the massively popular MMO, The World, the infamous "Terror of Death", Haseo, is attempting to track down the player killer, Tri-Edge. He seemingly succeeds, only to be told that the person he found is instead the famous .hacker, Kite, who Tri-Edge greatly resembles. Teaming up to take down the real Tri-Edge, Kite and Haseo soon find that real humans have somehow found themselves wondering into The World, cluing Kite into the fact that the boundaries between worlds are once again weakening...
Communication:If you are selected as to voice for a certain character, I will either DM you, or contact you via your preferred method of communication (please comment on your audition about details if you wish for this to happen).
I plan on using Discord server to conduct voice recording and direction sessions. Please be aware: I live in a UTC +8:00 timezone, so it is very likely that we will need to organise a time where conducting sessions are suitable.

A player of the first iteration of the popular MMO "The World", referred to as R:1.
Initially just a regular player, an encounter with a strange monster known as Skeith and a girl named Aura ended with Kite's friend Orca in a coma, and with Kite barely escaping. From Aura, Kite ended up receiving a mysterious item known as the "Twilight Bracelet", granting him the power to directly alter data of The World. With this newfound power, Kite set out to discover the true reason behind his friend's comatose state, eventually discovering how truly far reaching the incident had become. The efforts of him and his friends in containing the incident caused them to become famous, earning them the title of ".hackers" (pronounced "dot hackers").
On a day like any other, Kite is suddenly confronted by "The Terror of Death", Haseo, who seems to believe him to be "Tri-Edge". Soon realising that Haseo is from the future, Kite begins to worry that the boundaries between time and worlds have once again begun to grow weak....
Despite being an online gamer and having the power of the Twilight Bracelet at his disposal, Kite is a very kind and polite teenager who easily makes friends. Though young, he possesses remarkable leadership abilities as well.

(surprised, confused) Tri-Edge? Whoa, hold on! You’ve got the wrong guy!
...
I said wait! What are you even doing here? I don’t even know you!
(Calming, trying to explain) Calm down, Haseo! My name’s Kite. I know this is hard to believe, but...I think you came from the future!
(about Tri-Edge, confused) What the heck?! Why does he look just like me? That's Tri-Edge? Is he a cheater?
...
(determined) Well, whatever he is, he's definitely illegal. (to himself) Maybe I should ask Aura about this...
A player of the second iteration of "The World", known as R:2, set seven years after R:1.
Initially a player like any other, Haseo's life in game took a dramatic turn when his guildmate, a girl named Shino, was killed in-game by Tri-Edge, causing her to fall into a coma and become a Lost One. Believing that defeating Tri-Edge will cause all the Lost Ones to awaken, Haseo begins to track down player killers with a vengeance, becoming a notorious killer of them in the process, earning him the moniker "The Terror of Death".
Seemingly having successfully tracked down Tri-Edge, Haseo prepares to fight him...only to be told by what he thought was Tri-Edge is actually the famous .hacker, Kite. Confused about how he could have ended up in R:1, Haseo soon discovers that his day is about to get a whole lot weirder....
In this scene, Haseo is the only one who wasn't there for the events of Project X Zone 1. This leads him to become more and more confused and frustrated as the more weird elements of the crossover (time travel, real humans in digital world, etc.) begin to crop up.
Unlike Kite, Haseo comes off quite rude and and snarky whenever he interacts with others, not dissimilar to a teenager going through an 'edgy' phase. Nevertheless, he still tries to do the right thing, and can be serious and level-headed when he wants to.
Voice Type: Medium-Low; Late Teenager (Approx. 17-18 years old)
(determined, vengeful) I’ve finally found you… Tri-Edge! You took everything from me! Now it’s my turn to take everything from you! Once I defeat you… I’ll finally get her back!
(disbelieving, mocking) Kite? Hah! How much of a newbie do you think I am?! Kite, the world famous player from R:1’s second network crisis, seven years ago? Yeah, try a less obvious lie next time!
(contemplative, serious) ...Hulle Granz ("hoo-leh grahnz") Cathedral. So we're going to see a girl you know? Well, all right. Let's go.
A former military agent, but now the leader of a Hunter PMF ostensibly known as "Team Vashyron", alongside Zephyr and Leanne after taking the two in. Together, they take on jobs around their residence at the tower of Basel as mercenaries for hire.
Vashyron is a playboy at heart; he often takes a demeanor of a carefree jokester, never taking things too seriously. He also fashions himself as a womanizer, never failing to act flirtatious around them (except perhaps Leanne). Despite all this, Vashyron does deeply care about both Zephyr and Leanne, and isn't afraid to show off why he's former military.
One day, on a regular mission, Vashyron and Zephyr, and eventually Leanne, find themselves accidentally wondering into The World (again), causing them to run into Kite and Haseo. Initially confused, he and Zephyr resolve to help clean up the mess before it starts leaking out to the real world.
Voice Type: Low; Mid-twenties Adult
(triumphant, "ah-hah!") Now we’ve got you, you slippery little chess pieces! Thought you could escape Vashyron, didn't ya?
(surprised) For serious? She [Leanne] was just behind us a moment ago… (serious, slightly worried) Crudbuckets. Hope we didn’t get separated.
[Director's note: Vashyron is actually talking to Alisa in this dialogue, but is pretending she's Leanne as a joke]
(flirtatious, perverted) Ohh, Leanne baby! We’ve been waiting for you! C’mon, join us! I knew makeup could transform a woman… But this is truly fertile soil!
A secondary member of Team Vashyron.
Zephyr was taken in by Vashyron after he was called in to stop Zephyr rampaging a seminary, and has worked with Vashyron as a mercenary ever since.
Working on the same mission as Vashyron, Zephyr finds that he as somehow wondered into the The World (again), much to his annoyance.
Zephyr acts confident and cocky, and isn't afraid to bloody his hands. He can be blunt and foul mouthed at times, but he still has a pure heart deep down. Like Vashyron, he also has a tendency to joke and tease, especially towards Leanne.
Voice Type: Medium-Low; Late Teenager (Approx. 17 years old)
(pondering) But if Kite's here, then... (Annoyed) Oh, come on! Don’t tell me we wondered into another game world!
(Cocky, to Haseo) "Snot-nosed Brat"? You picking a fight with us, thorn-butt? ‘Cause I’m happy to take you up on it.
(Confused) Huh? How do you know our names? Wait... Three years ago? The heck are you talking about? That was just a couple weeks ago, and you’re older than Alisa for sure.
The final member of Team Vashyron, who joined after her suicide attempt was stopped by Zephyr.
Being taken in by Zephyr and Vashyron gave her a new reason to live; bidding farewell to her old self, she now wears makeup into battle as a sign of her resolve (since if she starts crying, the makeup will run.)
On the same mission as Team Vashyron, Leanne lags behind for a bit due to her applying makeup. Once she catches up to the others, she gets told (jokingly) that she's being replaced by a girl dressed like this. Needless to say, she's not amused (at least, until she realises who the girl is).
Leanne is a kind and thoughtful girl who shares an intimate camaraderie with Zephyr and Vashyron; so close that the latter two feel comfortable about ribbing her, although she's prone to retaliate with a slap when it goes too far (especially concerning jokes about her bustline).
Voice Type: High, Young Adult (approx. 20 years old)
(out of breath) *pant* *pant* I finally made it! (Annoyed) Zephyr! Vashyron! Don't you dare leave me behind!
(apologetic) Aw, c’mon guys, don’t be like that. I know I was a little tardy. But it’s not my fault. My makeup needed touching up!
(snippy, jealous, about Alisa) Huh?! What’s going on? Who is that?! Girl, if you think you can steal Zephyr and Vashyron by dressing like that, then…
(suddenly recognising)…Wait. Have we met before?
Full name: Alisa Ilinichina Amiella
Alisa is a member of the God Eater group "Cradle", whom hunt the all-consuming monstrosities known as Aragami.
Initially on a mission like any other, Alisa inexplicably finds herself teleported into The World, where she once again gets to meet old faces like Kite and Team Vashyron. However, although only a short time has passed for the other characters since the last adventure, it has been a full three years for Alisa. As such, no other characters recognise her, causing a lot of confusion.
Alisa is an overall kind girl who diligently protects her allies, but she has a bit of a cheeky side to her as well. She is also not very appreciative towards Vashyron's advances, or other comments made about her..."attire".
Voice Type: High; Late Teenager (approx. 18 years old)
(Dazed, confused) Ahh! What happened?! It's so bright... (suddenly recognising) Huh? Do I know this place?
(cheerful, happy) It’s me! Alisa Ilinichina Amiella ("Ill-in-ee-chee-na Ah-mi-ellah"), the God Eater. We fought together three years ago!
(having to explain something for the millionth time when no one believes you) *sigh* Look, I know that it sounds impossible, but all I can say is, for me, it's been three years.
