Project Overview

A story taking place between chapters 7 and 10 of my previous project, I See Fire, it is intended to cover one of the major events that occurred within the world and set up the conditions the different kingdoms are facing during the current timeline (~1,000 years in the future.) The story is untitled as of now. Similar to my previous projects, this will be a fully narrated story posted for free to YouTube. It will feature a much smaller cast list than my previous project.


Synopsis:

Magic is spreading throughout the world, but not everyone is pleased with this arrangement. Mages and sorcerers have begun to go missing, drawing the attention of the few invested enough to care and a flippant dismissal from the rest of the world.


Across the sea, Cain searches for answers and a solution to the curse plaguing his people.


When the last member of the Elmeih besides himself and his wife dies, Tokag takes it upon himself to see his friend laid to rest properly, stepping into a world he is no longer familiar with.


Maybe he should have just stayed home...


Below is a rough idea for my planned timeline on this story. Please note that it is still in its early stages and has quite a way to go. Dates are subject to change.


  1. Casting call closes October 6th, 2023.

  2. Decisions made by October 13th, 2023. Offers sent.

  3. Finalize story throughout November.

  4. Story officially ready for recording by December 1st.

  • Auditons Closed + Moving Forward

    Long message below. Check the last paragraph for a summarized version!

    Hello everyone! Thank you all so much for taking the time to audition for my project! It is truly an honor to have so many people interested in working with me! I was not expecting the sheer number of auditions that came through, with my last project being just over 400 and this… way beyond that. I am, admittedly, a bit overwhelmed.

    I have listened to everyone’s submissions so far and begun working to sort them. I intend to set aside several hours this weekend to really hammer out some final decisions based on my current shortlist. From there, I will start reaching out to others.

    I would like to note however, that my computer remains completely dead. Despite working to replace parts which were clearly faulty (the entire motherboard has been replaced…) it remains unrevived as of now. I am stuck, and nearly a month behind now with my work on this project… as well as a significant portion of my writing likely being completely lost. So, though I am loathe to admit it, I do believe this project will be delayed. Never the less, I am still going to move forward with making my casting decisions.

    I will be contacting the voice actors chosen within the next week with a very tentative word count and pay rate, by email if provided or by DM if not. This will, for the most part, be me confirming your continued interest in the project since I provided a very specific timeline for recording and payment that is no longer going to be accurate.

    Once I am ready to begin recording with you all, I will contact everyone who agreed once more with a final and solidified offer as well as the script so that you may review what it is I would be asking of you!

    I enjoy working on these projects and am eager to get started once again, so it frustrates me to have to delay one for the first time.. but alas life happens.

    That aside, I have a significant backlog of emails and DMs that you all have sent me. I’ll be working on getting everyone responded to this weekend as well.

    Hello everyone!

    Thank you so much for all of the auditions. It has been a pleasure to listen to everyone’s interpretation of my characters so far.

    I am coming by with a very quick update: my computer has decided that it no longer wishes to exist. I do not foresee this causing any delays with wrapping up the casting call as I fully intend to have the computer fixed before the end date, however on the off chance it does I wanted everyone aware. I will not be able to listen to new auditions nor make final decisions until that is fixed. If anything changes and I do end up delayed, I’ll send another update.

Wyvern / "Human"

Ikelos was a sorcerer, a natural born magic-user, known for his ability to heal, create lightning and, eventually, perform transformations. 


Born as the second son to his land's ruler, Ikelos left his home when he was still quite young as he had no desire to rule and had little chance at becoming emperor when his elder brother, Cain, was first in line for the throne. Unbeknownst to his family, however, Ikelos left with Cain's betrothed, Greer, whom Ikelos had grown close to. Together, Ikelos and Greer spent nearly a decade studying magic out in the unexplored regions of their homeland before finally returning... with a baby. By this point, Cain had already taken the throne. When the brothers reunited, there were many mixed feelings.


Ikelos and Greer left again, establishing a home outside of the main city in order to raise their son. They would soon be joined by other magic users. Cain began to see this as a concerning development, all the while stewing on the family he believed Ikelos had stolen from him.


Sometime within the following years, Ikelos experimented with transformations and eventually succeeded, temporarily turning himself into a four-winged wyvern. He would now be able to do this transformation at will, though it would leave its mark on his body. He began to look less and less human as time went on.


Ikelos would later confront his brother, Cain, after numerous attacks on both his family and the people who had chose to follow him. This attack, however, resulted in Ikelos' son being fatally wounded and Ikelos himself being presumed dead with only Cain aware of his true fate.


Note: While I am leaving this role open to interpretation of the voice no matter the accent or pitch, Ikelos' son, Tokag, has previously been cast. The chosen voice for Ikelos will need to be similar enough to be believable as the father of a younger Tokag.

Ikelos is a very minor role in this story, only appearing in one chapter as part of a flashback, however opportunities for future work may arise.

Role Filled


The ruler of his homeland, holding the title of emperor, Cain was once considered a very imposing figure. As the elder brother of Ikelos, Cain was set to take over the throne from birth and prepared for it from the beginning. He felt betrayed by his brother when Ikelos left, taking Cain's beloved, Greer, with him (though she had never loved Cain.)


He would never desire another woman and, when Ikelos and Greer returned, felt intense anger and jealousy over the relationship the two had formed and the child they had conceived together. He had fooled himself into believing Greer would return to him. Having living proof that this was not the case inflamed the betrayal he had felt when Ikelos first left.


Ikelos and Cain would have a highly antagonistic relationship towards one another, with Ikelos' son, Tokag, bearing the brunt of Cain's attacks on his brother for the following two decades. The rivalry ultimately ended in a fight between Cain, Ikelos, and Tokag which left Ikelos presumed dead and Tokag fatally wounded.


Cain would proceed to send others to search the world for Tokag (and the rest of the people who fled with him) for the next few decades. Meanwhile, he was dealing with the aftermath of his brother's death and the damage it had done to his kingdom with the magic Ikelos used to control the natural fauna being ripped away and opening the way for monsters to thrive on the continent.


Tokag and Cain would eventually have one final confrontation in which Cain's life would finally be brought to an end.


In his later years, Cain would frequently be found arguing with himself, shadows, or inanimate objects and became quite violent. He became someone to fear; quick to threaten violence and willing to carry out those threats.


While the majority of my characters tend to be some variety of morally ambiguous grey, Cain is undeniably the villain in this story.


Descriptions from the story include:

The girl did not react to Cain’s ranting, nor was she surprised. This was a common occurrence. Her liege had always been… temperamental, at best, but in recent years he had descended into what some whispered to be a madness. A poison tainting his mind.


Where once the emperor had seemed an unmovable force, sturdy and strong willed, he was now often found chasing the ghosts of his past and screaming at shadows.


He looked up, shadows shrouding his face, eyes narrowed into the thinnest slits. He seemed poised to strike much like a viper.


“Very well,” he said, quiet and cold. Malice dripped from his every word and for the briefest moment, she felt genuine fear for the merchants who had so greatly angered the man in front of her. “Let us go greet our guests.”


Physical Appearance & Voice:

As a younger man, Cain had the same dark brown shade of hair as his brother and bright, blue eyes. His eyes in particular would be described in great detail by both the people he ruled and foreigners, with many commenting that they seemed almost too bright and lively for someone with such a sharp and imposing face. He was considered above average height. Overall, general opinion seemed to be that he was pleasing to the eye.


In later years, Cain would retain much of his imposing and fit physique, doing his best to combat age though he would still be weakened over the years despite his efforts. Alarmingly, as his hair greyed, so too did his mind seem to lose its health. This, ultimately, lead to the rumors questioning the emperor's sanity.


Cain's voice was deep and rich, layered with a charismatic personality or dripping with venom and malice depending upon the situation. He had a slight accent that would be more prominent when he was angered, but otherwise may be hardly noticeable. Cain was fluent in four different languages, as required by his status as ruler.

[Name derived from a dear friend of mine. Please ensure it is pronounced correctly as Kai.]


Kaj is a nine-year-old boy who finds himself being held prisoner alongside his sister, Katja, and Tokag. Kaj is a relatively calm child, who takes it upon himself to protect his sister in the absence of their parents. He and Tokag do not get along at first, Kaj seeing Tokag as too similar to the people who had kidnapped him and his sister, though he does eventually come around to the man and accept his help... especially when they are forced to spend so much time together.


Kaj is a major character within the story.

Katja is a six-year-old girl being held prisoner alongside Kaj [Kai] and Tokag. Katja, being younger, tends to be naiver than her elder brother. She is quick to accept Tokag, seeing him as a source of protection and safety. She and her brother argue over this relationship frequently early on in the story.


Katja is a major character within the story.

Role Filled

Galadriel, though highly accomplished in her own right, would only be remembered by history as Tokag's wife and even that is hardly more than a footnote in a history book. Despite this, those of the time period knew her as someone to be respected and looked up to.


Born a sorcerer, Gala was outcast from her home when she was still just a child alongside her brother, Corran, and would eventually be taken in by Ikelos and Greer as part of the ever-growing collection of mages and sorcerers that would later become the Elmeih. During this time, Gala's skills in magic would flourish to turn her into one of the groups most skilled users. She had a broad range of ability with no particular focus, leaving her useful in most situations but unable to perform the most complex of spells. Even still, her talent and abilities had few rivals.


Tokag and Gala's relationship developed beyond basic comradery when they were both around nineteen, with the pair forming a mutual affection for one another. By the time they were both twenty they had a child. A year later when Tokag was heavily wounded and the Elmeih were forced to flee their home, Galadriel would be one of the group's strongest leaders and frequently assisted Estelle in guiding everyone to safety. Meanwhile, she continued to single-handedly raise her son while Tokag lay in a coma and remained by his side until, months later, he finally woke up.


Gala acted as a comfort and voice of reason to Tokag in the following years as he began to doubt his sister's leadership abilities and would remain behind with him when the Elmeih eventually broke apart and scattered.

Galadriel's role in this story is brief and minor, though she is mentioned frequently. To provide some direction, I have added requested accents to this role. Any and all voices and accents are up for consideration, however I would be particularly interested in keeping her in-line with previously established descriptions for her.
