Pennywise: The 1908 Origin – Audio Drama (Fan Adaptation)

Project Overview

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

If you’re comfortable with it, we’d like to record this story live in a Discord call. It’s the easiest way for us to have a bit more control and change some stuff that we normaly cant in recordings that you record seperatly. Thank you.

Pennywise: The 1908 Origin is a dramatic audio-drama retelling of how IT first took the form of Bob Gray, leading to the creation of Pennywise the Dancing Clown. This is NOT meant to be canon to Stephen King’s novel or any film. It’s an original re-imagining designed for horror fans, voice actors, and storytellers.

This episode is set in 1908, in a quiet but eerie Derry. The tone is cinematic, emotional, grounded in character, and eventually terrifying. We follow Bob Gray, a local clown, and his daughter Ingrid, as laughter and innocence catch the attention of a cosmic, ancient being beneath the earth.

This is Episode 1 of a continuing audio series. Future episodes will expand on Pennywise’s evolution and Derry’s secrets.

All actors will be fully credited and tagged wherever the project is posted.

Audio Quality Requirements:

Clean recordings, no background noise, no reverb. USB mics allowed if high quality.

If you’r able to, please add you’r discord next to your audition

🎭 NARRATOR

Deferred: Profit Share
Role assigned to: Brad Lane

Voice Type: Neutral to warm, storyteller, cinematic tone.

Acting Notes:

The narrator is the spine of the story. Should sound confident, expressive, and able to shift between cozy, eerie, suspenseful, and intense. Think “graphic novel come to life.” You guide the listener through tension, innocence, and cosmic dread.

  • ” Derry was a quiet and calm town. At least during twenty-seven years of its cycle.”

  • ” What neither of them noticed was the faint tremor in the ground… just enough for something beneath to stir.”

  • “And deep inside, where Bob Gray’s soul once lived, only a faint echo remained… drowned by cosmic hunger.”

Deferred: Profit Share
Role assigned to: Carmeleon

Voice Type:

  • Bob Gray: Middle-aged male, gentle, fatherly, warm.
  • IT: Distorted, monstrous, playful-but-terrifying; MUST be able to perform a Bill Skarsgård–style Pennywise voice (not perfect, but strong imitation encouraged).

Acting Notes:

This role requires RANGE. You must portray:

  • A loving father
  • A confident clown performer
  • A terrified man facing something cosmic
  • IT: a wicked, ancient, mocking entity with unsettling vocal tricks Growls, whispers, sudden tone shifts, and Pennywise-like “childish menace” are a bonus.

Role assigned to: Tsukishiro

Voice Type: Young teen (13); energetic, sweet, curious.

Acting Notes:

She’s bubbly and enthusiastic about clowning, but still a child—playful, naïve, and genuinely loving toward her father. You don’t need to be 13, you could be all from 11 - 22, just make sure you have a younger voice. And a youthful, spirited tone is ideal.

  • “Papa? Your voice sounds weird…” (concerned, subtle fear)

Voice Type: Loud, theatrical, booming carnival performer.

Acting Notes:

He appears briefly, but should feel like the classic circus announcer. Confident, slightly rough, busy man handling chaotic performers.
