PARESIS - Casting Call B
Project Overview
What is PARESIS?
PARESIS is a horror/mystery audio drama which blends the supernatural and the psychological to explore hunger, obsession, and the erosion of one's sense of self.
We are currently in the early stages of development. At this time, production is finishing up writing part 1 and organizing crowdfunding efforts.
WARNING: This project touches on sensitive topics such as addiction, mental health, and self-harm. Please take care of yourselves and do not apply if any of these topics are too much for you.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking to fill four more roles for part 1, which includes two major characters and two minor characters.
This is a long term project, as all four characters are slated to return in part 2. Please keep that in mind if you decide to audition.
What do we need from you?
All we need from you at this stage is your audition, but feel free to include any other information you want us to know about you or your setup.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18+
Must have Discord
Clear audio quality (no background noise)
1-2 takes of each line (ABCABC format preferred)
What does the future of this project look like?
Currently, our team is working to get crowdfunding efforts organized by January of 2026. Once our Kickstarter campaign is complete, we'll get down to recording.
Casting Call C will be posted in early 2026, featuring the rest of the roles for part 1.
We are currently set to begin releasing part 1 in fall 2026, with episodes posted weekly on Spotify, Youtube, and other streaming platforms. Shortly after, production will begin on part 2.
If cast, you will be added to a Discord server where we will discuss further. VAs may be asked to participate in a live recording session over Discord for certain scenes, but the majority of recording for the main series will be done on an individual basis.
PAYMENT + RECORDING
Recording for paid roles will take place once we are able to secure funding. If we don't reach our Kickstarter goal, we'll be looking into other crowdfunding methods, which may cause a delay in our recording schedule.
SOME NOTES
We will not be casting early on this project! You have until the deadline to submit your auditions, but we will not be considering any submissions that come in after the deadline.
No experience is required to submit. We are a small team working on an amateur basis, and we are more than happy to cast other amateurs and hobbyists.
There will be no AI of any kind used in this project.

Birdie is one of two deuteragonists, the other being Desmond. A major role in part 1.
A waitress at the local diner. Deeply compassionate to her family, friends, and the local stray cats. Friendly and upbeat, but not obnoxiously so.
Birdie has a bright and clear voice, and a wide range in tone. She's not a caricature of positivity— she is a kind person with flaws and frustrations. Midwestern accent preferred, light southern twang also acceptable.

(frustrated, scolding) Don't. Don't say my name like that. It won't change anything. There's nothing you can say that will soften the blow, so just... don't.

A local who is desperate to escape town. Thinks of himself as a roguish bad boy, when really he's just a normal guy who tries a little too hard to be charming.
Desmond has a casual and laid-back voice. He should sound easygoing and sure of himself. Midwestern accent preferred.

A detective investigating a string of mysterious deaths. He is highly focused, ambitious, and level-headed. Takes the investigation very seriously.
Detective Hunter has a stern but calm voice. Polite enough on the outside, but it is almost always a tool to disarm rather than genuine friendliness.

Our main character's older sister. Worried about her sister, but also frustrated with her.
Florence is elegant and composed, but still capable of losing her cool. Tries hard to maintain her image as the perfect daughter, sister, and wife.
Florence has a naturally low and smooth voice. She should sound like she's constantly trying to mask her exasperation.
