Project Overview

Paradox is an indie JRPG following a group of teens and an adult who venture across the vast Starinare region in search of ancient relics called Gaian Stones. The game is a SNES-styled RPG, influenced by classics like Final Fantasy VI, Persona 4, Yo-kai Watch 2 and Mother 3. The game has a story filled with heart and great character moments, brought to live via animated cutscenes with full voice acting. That's where you come in! I am searching for voice actors to bring these quirky characters to life! Being a paid project, I am serious about this project and hope you'll be excited to join me on this game development journey, and bring the world of Paradox to life. <3

  • Jacob auditions shortlisted!

    Hello again, everyone! Just wanted to update that after a lengthy listen to each and every audition (yes, all of them!), Jacob's voice auditions have been shortlisted! Check to see if you were one of them. Make sure you give it a few hours to go through.

    While I initially planned on doing Jacob and Amy at the same time regarding the shortlisting process, I had no idea just how many amazing auditions for Amy I would see. I'm going to need to dedicate an entire session just for her. It's legitimately that great. The competition is stiff, but I believe all of you! You have any questions feel free to message me here.

  • Shortlisting has started!

    Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I just finished the first round of shortlists, which is for the protagonist. Those of you who have been shortlisted should get an email and CCC notification saying you've been shortlisted. THIS IS JUST FIR THE PROTAGONIST, THE OTHER CHARACTER SHORTLISTS ARE STILL IN THE WORKS. If you auditioned for other characters, you can still be shortlisted at a different date. If you only auditioned for the protagonist and haven't been shortlisted, I have decided not to move forward with your audition. I will update everyone when the next shortlist goes through, which will cover Jacob and Amy. See you soon!

    Hey followers! First of all, I just want to say thank you guys so so so much for checking out the casting call. I never in a million years saw my silly little RPG Maker project getting the traction it has, but I'm so glad that others are excited and ready to work with me!

    Now that auditions have closed, I need to take the time to review the auditions, yes, each and every one of them. I'm sure that if you see the amount I've gotten, this will take quite a bit. I will check back in a few days with a shortlisted cast announcement, as hopefully we can move on to the final cast! Thank you guys again, and I wish you all the absolute best of luck!

The hero of this story is an unnamed 14-year-old boy. His canonical name is Dustin, but the player can name him whatever they want. He and his mother moved to the Starinare Region due to a work-related opportunity for his mom. In the town of Riverview he meets Jacob Santiago and Amy Ambrose, and the trio goes on a list of supernatural adventures across the region.

The protagonist is nervous at first, but when his destiny is laid out for him and charted through a prophecy, he steps up and takes the mantle as the hero of the story!

Jacob Santiago is the protagonist's best friend! Upon meeting him at Riverview High School, Jacob is widely seen as a punk or delinquent. He is similar to characters like Junpei Iori and Ryuji Sakamoto from the Persona series. Jacob used to be in Riverview's gang, the Riverview Ratpack, but has since tried to turn over a new leaf and become a better person. He is fun-loving, kind, and most of all brave. He is there to defend his friends if they ever need him.

  • Hey man... I know that I was initially kinda an ass to you. Regarding her, and regarding this whole magical destiny BS. But uh... I think I understand it now. My place in all of this, I mean. This whole time I was thinking about how unfair it was that you got that stone first, but I'm starting to realize that maybe that was always predetermined. And even if I can't see the future, I can see the present. And in the present, well... you're still my best friend.

Amy is the brains of the group. Having grown up in a wealthy family, she hates the stagnation of her life, always being on a pedestal. She wants so desperately to be treated like a normal kid. The opportunity comes to her when the protagonist and Jacob treat her as an equal. Amy is the class president, and also a member of Riverview High's archery club. Her proficiency with a bow helps the gang in the heat of battle!

Espahr (pronounced Ess-parr) is not like the other party members. He arrives on Earth through an ancient statue. He claims to be from an alternate world named Terra, a realm stuck in a fantasy era of swords and scorcery. He has come to Earth to warn the gang of an immense evil that looks to merge the worlds of Terra and Earth together and rule over it as an authoritarian empire. While initially distant, Espahr grows to accept his new life on Earth and eventually considers the other heroes close friends.

Klaus wasn't always evil, in the past, him and Espahr were friends when in the Terrarian Guard.

Cassius is the insidious emperor of Terra's empire. He has sent Klaus to find Espahr and to obtain the Gaian stones so he could take control of Earth. Cassius is obsessed with reviving the ancient evil force known as the Dark Monarch so he can merge Earth and Terra together. He needs the Gaian stones to do this, and he'll stop at nothing to get his wish.

Jenna is a semi-minor character who only speaks in Chapter 1 of the game. She has a hidden hideout in the Riverview sewers, to hide from the loads of bullying she gets at school. She is a shy and timid girl, who only begins to speak to the protagonist after noticing his Gaian stone bears a striking resemblance to a pendent she lost in the sewers. She very clearly hides more than she lets on.
