Jacob Santiago is the protagonist's best friend! Upon meeting him at Riverview High School, Jacob is widely seen as a punk or delinquent. He is similar to characters like Junpei Iori and Ryuji Sakamoto from the Persona series. Jacob used to be in Riverview's gang, the Riverview Ratpack, but has since tried to turn over a new leaf and become a better person. He is fun-loving, kind, and most of all brave. He is there to defend his friends if they ever need him.

Hey man... I know that I was initially kinda an ass to you. Regarding her, and regarding this whole magical destiny BS. But uh... I think I understand it now. My place in all of this, I mean. This whole time I was thinking about how unfair it was that you got that stone first, but I'm starting to realize that maybe that was always predetermined. And even if I can't see the future, I can see the present. And in the present, well... you're still my best friend.
This plan is a NIGHTMARE! You're nothing but a stain on humanity and everything it stands for! I may not be the brightest. I stumble into things that can get me hurt. I'm treated like a gang member at school. I didn't even have real friends until I met Amy and Dustin .But even a lughead like me knows that being flawed is what makes us human! You can't expect to rid us of our flaws by eradicating what you see as inferior!
