Project Overview

Important Before Getting Into The Project:


  • At this moment Pandora's Box is still in core story writing/development (which is why the call is open for so long) we want to look for VAs while working on the project but please keep in mind that it might be a long while before any recording is done (easily around 5+ months), we want to finish the entire script so all recording can (relatively) be done in one go.

  • We have no promise VAs will be used in this project. We have voice alternatives (beeping sounds/etc.) but we want to see the possible voices to bring extra life to these characters, that being said however as stated we are not 100% set on using VAs, so give us your best shot to convince us!



About Pandora's Box:


Pandora's Box is going to be a Youtube based interactive Visual Novel, basically, there will be different choices viewers can make that make the story take different paths, a good example of this kind of mechanic would be the series 'In Space with Markipler' or other adjacent series like that done by Markiplier. Basically, a visual novel game played via Youtube instead of an actual app.


Pandora's Box is the story of a newly appointed guard named Icarus, he is assigned by the warden of the prison Ares to look after one of the prison's most dangerous prisoners, Eros.


During this time Icarus gets to know Eros, Ares, and even other inhabitants of the prison. His future and outcome is all dependent on what choices he makes- will he discover dark secrets? Break out the prisoner? Get into serious danger? That's for you to decide!

Want to get a better judge of the kind of voices we're looking for? Feel free to check out this 'voice claim' video I made [Here]. Please note we are not looking for a 1 to 1 match or for you to impersonate these voices, we want to hear your own take but the video is here to give you a little hint of the direction we are looking for on each character.


While Pandora's Box will not be a gory or nsfw project, please do be aware the series will possibly be on the more mature/adult side. We ask that if you are auditioning you must be okay with the content in this production. It might have cursing, and will contain depictions and talk of death / violence / torture / abuse / etc. It will also contain flirtatious and suggestive tones / comments / campy vibes / etc. Along with unhealthy relationship portrayals, and very questionable, even bad, character ethics / morals (once again nothing gory, vulgar, or nsfw). With all that said, we want everyone auditioning to be 18+. We do not want minors involved due to the story's nature.


We at this current time do not know how long the recordings will take as we do not have a completed script/all paths planned out yet, we still plan to pay hourly however the calls listed hours are subject to change.


We will likely communicate via a Discord server. Please make sure you are familiar with / are comfortable being a part of a discord server (this is where we would send scripts / talk / etc.)


As I am an animator and love making content for my works outside of their main source, please also audition if you are comfortable sticking around 'long-term' basically, in case I want to make an animation or one-off scene / clip / etc. you are still up for VA work outside of the main series recording either before or after the series is finished (will still be paid of course)

  • Small Update #1 - Great Start!

    Wow! Thank you all so much for all the auditions so far! Been listening to all of them with my co-writer and having a blast imagining everyone potentially portraying these characters!

    A small minor update to the main page is I made the Voice Claim video a bit more visible and consistently linked!

    I went ahead and also on each character's calls listed exactly how each voice claim should be referenced (tone/characteristics/pacing/etc.)

    Please consider this a mass critique at the moment, but I do want to reflect on the characters vs a lot of the submissions we are getting to give people ideas on how to improve if they choose to redo an audition!

    I will also add some of these notes onto the actual call itself!

    Icarus

    • Icarus is calm and warm but he is also rather anxious, like a big nerd. A lot of auditions are playing him a bit more stoic and confident (he worries easy, is gullible and not super professional, and is deathly afraid of upsetting Ares).

    • Icarus' voice may be a bit rumbly (reference Awesamdude in the voice claim video) but his voice isn't really low, not too high but more on the mid-high end (mostly reference Kristoff and Legoshi in the voice claim video).

    Eros

    • Eros may be flirtatious and sly when speaking but a major audition notice is many submissions are drawing out sentences and delivering lines slowly and delicately. Eros is quick with delivery and tends to often change inflection depending on the situation (around others especially Ares, Eros will be loud and snarky, while around Icarus they will be more quiet and flirtatious, but in general always has a somewhat quick snarky playful attitude, reference Pina in the voice claim for good examples of different pacing and inflections, while he isn't in the voice claim video another good reference of general attitude and snarkiness and pacing, especially around Ares, is Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel.)

    Ares

    • Akin to Eros, many deliveries are drawn out and slow, Ares is very casual and often is so unnerving because how calm they usually are, only snapping or sounding threatening in high stress situations or if they've been wronged.

    • Ares is actually unsettlingly charismatic. Even when upset or yelling they will usually laugh or be very smug, they hardly ever lower their voice to sound threatening (please reference Quackity's entire segment in the voice claim video, his deliveries are almost 1:1 with the Ares, the characteristics / pacing / tone / etc.)

    Achilles

    • The voice claim provided was more to be a characterization reference (for giggling/anxiousness/etc.) than a tone. Achilles tends to giggle and laugh a lot constantly, since Achilles is part hyena, so even if laughing isn't explicitly stated to do in lines, if it feels natural to add, go for it! But also, please don't try too hard to mimic the voice and make Achilles sound too goofy/cartoonish.

    Erebus

    • The voice claims provided for Erebus I realized can be very deceiving. Six Eyes and Zira are more so a characteristic reference, while Raine is more on par with the pitch of Erebus' voice, she is dark and mysterious but is still within the same age group as the rest of the cast, and don't want to give her a voice that sounds much older than the rest.

Icarus is the main character of this project. They are the character whose choices are influenced by the viewer and take a bunch of different paths.


Icarus is the newest guard at Pandora's Box, he is young and slightly anxious but can be serious when necessary.


Icarus has a 20's range soft masculine voice. He is caring and generally easy to influence and manipulate but can absolutely stand his ground.


New Notes:

Eros is one of the head characters of this project. They are the prisoner the player is instructed to watch over.


Eros is the prisoner at Pandora's Box, they are flirtatious and very deceptive. They will do or say whatever needed to get into the heads of others to benifit themselves.


Eros has a 20's range sly / flirtatious high masculine or androgynous voice. They always seem to have a sultry / playful tone, as if everything is a game to them, but can also put on an act if necessary.


New Notes:

Ares is one of the head characters of this project. They are the player's boss.


Ares is the warden at Pandora's Box, they can be intimidating at best and cruel at worst. Their ego and pride are often in full force, taking their job seriously and willing to do anything to stay in control.


Ares has a 20's range cold / intimidating high masculine or androgynous voice. They are generally more emotionless when speaking around enemies and slightly cold but often passively snarky when talking to those they like.


New Notes:


  • Ares is very casual and often is so unnerving because how calm they usually are, only snapping or sounding threatening in high stress situations or if they've been wronged.


  • Ares is actually unsettlingly charismatic. Achilles is a side character of this project. He is the head guard what works alongside the warden.


Achilles is the head guard at Pandora's Box, he is seemingly unfit for being head guard, often nervous and anxious, yet can snap if needed. They listen and obey every command given by the warden.


Achilles has a 20's range shaky / anxious masculine voice. He tends to constantly laugh or giggle in high stress situations or in general (he is part hyena). He is generally a neutral and polite person unless the warden asks him to be serious.


New Notes:

  • The voice claim provided is to be a characterization reference (for giggling/anxiousness/etc.) than a tone. Achilles tends to giggle and laugh a lot constantly, since Achilles is part hyena, so even if laughing isn't explicitly stated to do in lines, if it feels natural to add, go for it! But also, please don't try too hard to mimic the voice and make Achilles sound too goofy/cartoonish.

Erebus is one of side characters of this project. She is the resident doctor who works alongside the warden.


Erebus is the doctor at Pandora's Box, they are mysterious and often very calm. They will do their job when needed but often put their needs above everyone else, not afraid to call it how it is but will also not stir up any issues.


Erebus has a 20's-30's range sly / low feminine or androgynous voice. They always seem to have a low / hypnotic tone, as if they are hiding something or in general aren't phased by many of the things going on around them.


New Notes:

  • The voice claims provided for Erebus can be very deceiving. Six Eyes and Zira are more so a characteristic reference, while Raine is more on par with the pitch of Erebus' voice, she is dark and mysterious but is still within the same age group as the rest of the cast, and don't want to give her a voice that sounds much older than the rest.
