Project Overview
╭ ✉️﹕Introduction
Hello and thanks for stopping by! I am currently recruiting voice actors for an original drama short film, Overthinker. The story revolves around Hazel Jones, a teenager who struggles with having confidence in herself and realizing her self-worth. During the course of this film is where she comes to terms with her overthinking and self-doubt and how she learns to overcome it over a long period of time. The short film will be made by a character creation app, Gacha Club, so the characters are not actually drawn out myself. It is estimated to be 20-40 minutes in length.
This project is a short-term commitment, due to it being a short film with only one script that will be sent to voice actors on June 3, 2022. After all of the voice lines are submitted throughout the discord server, the film should be completed and uploaded to YouTube within two to three weeks' time. With that being said, you must have discord to audition for this project, thank you.
★⌢⌢ Deadlines & Auditions
Auditions officially close on June 1, 2022, at 11:59 P.M. PST (Pacific Standard Timezone). The official cast will be announced on June 2, 2022, along with them receiving a DM from me on the same day to the discord server where lines are expected to be submitted after two weeks to the script being released to the voice actors.
You may audition for as many characters as you would like to, though only expect to be cast as one. In your audition, please state the following (this must be done for EACH audition if you choose to audition for more than one character):
- Name
- Age
- Discord Handle
This project is 13+ as it does contain some swearing and the topic of extreme self-doubt/blaming oneself. Please be aware of this before auditioning, thank you.
╰ ☎️﹕What To Expect
Expect to be welcomed by August, the director of this short film. I'll then send you a DM via discord saying which character you were cast as long with a link to the discord server. Keep in mind that the script will not be released to you until June 3, so you will not be expected to record any lines right away. However, it is expected of you to turn them in by the deadline - though if there is any reason you cannot do this within the deadline I set, please DM me and we'll work something out.

Hazel is the protagonist of the story and has the INFJ-T personality type. Most would describe her as introverted, kind-hearted, and even quite emotional at times. She also struggles with accepting her self-worth along with being quite the overthinker when it comes to pretty much anything instead of talking about her feelings to those she cares about.
Taken by surprise, "O-oh, sorry! I guess I just... zoned out..-" Voice trailing off at the end.
Hesitant, "Uhm... are you ever, like, annoyed with me- or anything?? Uh, sorry- hold on, let me reword that-"
Lashing out, "You LIE about everything, and now YOU'RE upset!? Why couldn't you have just told me the truth, Levi!?"
Levi is later revealed to be the antagonist of the story and has the ISFP-T personality type. He is often classified by his friends as thoughtful, though he can be a bit selfish at times even if he thinks it's for a greater cause. To keep him being aromantic more of a secret, he did end up agreeing to date Hazel, despite him not actually liking her like that, which hurts her later on in the story as she finds out about this.
Stern, "You *know* I can't, it'd destroy her, Liam."
Looking away, feeling bad, "...yeah, see you later."
Defending himself, calm, "Look, do you really think that would've been a better choice?"
Avery is a supporting character as they are a friend of Hazel's and has the ENFP-T personality type. They are quite outgoing, and extroverted, though they do truly care for their friends with all of their heart - even if they don't always show it. They aren't the best with words, though it should not be mistaken about how caring they actually are. Avery believes that gender is an overrated concept as they identify as agender and use they/them pronouns.
Teasing "Oh, please, it's so obvious!"
Concerned, "She's usually *always* here, though..."
Reassuring, "Don't worry about it, he probably just like- forgot- or something."
Cassandra - or Cassie is one of the supporting characters of the story as along with Avery, she is one of Hazel's close friends. She has the personality type ISFJ-T and is often described as caring, kind-hearted, yet a bit insecure as well. Nonetheless, she is always happy to help out her friends no matter what it takes, even if it puts her own feelings at risk. An example of this is when she set up Levi and Hazel on a date despite her having feelings for Hazel as she completely put them behind as if they didn't exist.
Understanding, "You don't have to tell us, it's not like you have to or anything."
Nervous, beginning to lash out, "I can't tell them, Avery... you know how they're like."
Surprised, slightly angry "Why would he do that!? That's *not* okay!"
Liam is a minor character in the story and has the ISTJ-A personality type. He has quite a high self-esteem, though not too high as he is not described as egotistical at all. He is also quite selfless and thoughtful of others and despite being a close friend of Levi's, he does not agree with all of the decisions he has made.
Serious, annoyed, "Look man, I understand why but you *need* to tell her the truth."
Genuine, apologetic, "I wish you didn't have to find out like... *that*, he should've just told you himself."
Clara is a minor character in the story who is the older sister of Hazel and has the ESFP-A personality type. She is energetic, extroverted, and kind along with believing that all of her choices were the correct ones to make, despite the fact that people disagree with many of them. She is often known for her surprise visits ever since she traveled to France to enroll in culinary school as she wishes to be a baker.
Loud, cheerful "Surprise! Guess who?"
Teasing, "Oh, em, gee! Are you *finally* going through your emo phase, zelly?"
Mia is the mother of both Clara and Hazel and is a minor character in the story with the personality type INTJ-T. Despite her trying to be there for her children, though, her work always keeps her away from them as she works hard to support them due to her being a single mother after their father had passed away they were kids.
Surprised, "Clara!?" shifting into an annoyed tone, "You *need* to tell me when you're coming! You can't just keep showing up here whenever."
Letting out a slight sigh, understanding "...okay, that's fine but you need to go back tomorrow, okay? You can't have your attendance declining too much - I'm sure you know that, Hazel."
