Thank you for your interest in OR: The Vex. We have a number of roles that we are looking to cast for our upcoming demo of the game. Voice actors should be prepared to reprise their role for the final version of the game (TBA 2023). Submissions accepted until October 12, 2022 11:59pm PST. Casting will be announced October 21, 2022.
Story:
The Osmidian Republic is a wealthy nation built from the rubble of a world war. During a period called the Rush, technological advancement soared, allowing environments and people to modify themselves like never before. The Vexander Network is the capital and serves as residence to the world's richest and poorest. The O.R. is built upon a class system determined by wealth, criminal history, family prestige, skillset, etc. The upper class entertains themselves with expensive flying cars, priceless entertainment, and the finest body modifications money can buy… while the lower class take on shady opportunities and deathly contracts to hopefully see tomorrow.
The protagonist, Tessa Soldaire, is the heiress to MoveWell, Inc., a company that provides the city's public transit system. She lives a life of luxury, never paying attention to the "grazers” unseen from her penthouse. Throughout the story, Tessa is challenged by personalities she'd never expect to meet, forcing her to discover what life in the Vex really means.
Guidance
- OR: The Vex is rated M for content that includes blood, strong language, violence, alcohol reference, drug reference, and mild sexual themes. There are no explicit scenes.
- Must be 18 years or older to audition.
- Recorded lines for the demo are paid, remote, and will not require live sessions. Recorded lines for the final game may require live sessions.
- The demo is fully voiced. The final game is partially (fully, if funding allows) voiced.
- Rates for the characters are non-negotiable. Depending on funding for the final game, hourly rates may be negotiated in the future.
- High audio quality with no background noise.
- Voice actors will be expected to reprise their roles for the final game.
- Final deliverables must be submitted in .wav format.
- Keep pauses between lines at a minimum.
- Primary communication can be done through text, Discord, and/or email.
- Payment will be completed through PayPal upon receipt of final deliverables.

Voice type: Low-mid, suave, teasing, raspy

Personality: With equal amounts of snarkiness and flirtation, Nic can smooth talk his way out of anything. He leads his gang, the Hi-Risers, with a strong hand and proves himself to be a dependable leader. His hard exterior helps him survive in the Vex, but he often wonders if he would still be respected if he acted more sensibly.
[Meeting someone for the first time. Teases her with a flirty tone.] Looking again? You’ve got a staring problem, you know.
[Extremely angry, teeth gritted with weapons drawn.] Didn’t know that your dog was so trigger happy. Heh - Pull it, blondie!
[Shaky and quiet, but doing his best to be comforting.] Hey now. You’re good. I gotcha, c’mon. We don’t have to be tough all the time.
Voice type: Low-mid, monotone, flat

Personality: Cypher is an aloof individual who finds it difficult to care. He tires of conversation easily and loses his patience when speaking to those he may think as dumb. As a talented hacker, he appreciates the solitude of his room and avoids others. However, he is protective over the few that he holds close.
(Deadpan and irritated) Please use your brain. I am begging you at this point.
[Trying to remain stoic, but is getting flustered] (Embarrassed and shy) I- I never said that. You’re assuming again. And stop… stop looking at me with those eyes!
[Annoyed and frustrated after a taxing conversation] Sure, I’ll pull a computer out of my ass and incapacitate them with binary code. Why do I even bother with you?
Voice type: Low-mid, rich, formal

Personality: Daven is as loyal and protective as they come. He believes his purpose to be only one thing: to protect Tessa. Serious and rarely thrown off guard, Daven is a force to be reckoned with. He alludes to other hobbies, but refuses to speak about personal matters with anyone.
(Stern) I will be at your door by 7:30. Do. Not. Be. Late.
(Shouting and seething with anger) Your agenda is nothing but a fleeting dream! I’ll kill you before you could even think of a plan!
[Sweet, kind. Spoken with a small smile] I find you difficult, but it comes with the territory.
Voice type: Mid-high, proper, quiet

Personality: Killian was raised in the AA class and adheres to all social manners that were taught to him. As the heir to a major corporation, he is soft-spoken and careful about how he presents himself to others. He is a kind person and often gets taken advantage of.
(Sweet, kind. Quiet) I got it correct, yes? I thought it was worth it to remember.
(Upset and feeling betrayed) Why would you do this?... To me?! Am I nothing more than a pawn?
[Very sad and regretful. Holding back tears.] The decision has been made. I did not want to choose, but it was necessary.
Voice type: Low-mid, smooth, cheerful

Personality: “Masked Man” is a Joker-esque character with very little known about him. He portrays himself as a cheerful, considerate person… at times. His behavior can change to that of a sadistic predator with no warning, instilling immense fear in those that have the misfortune of meeting him. He is incredibly selfish and does not concern himself with consequences.
[Cold] (Cutting and insulting) Keep your idiotic thoughts to yourself. I don’t need pointers from someone so expendable.
(Cheery, sing-song) Oh, how I hate to harm such a pretty face… But I love that I’m the one to do it.
*Extremely unhinged laughter*
Voice type: Mid, laid-back, raspy

Personality: Pierce is very intelligent and is pursuing a PhD in Engineering. When she is not studying, she is shopping for the latest fashion and hanging out with her much loved friends. She is regarded as the chill one of her friend group and is difficult to upset. Spunky and fun, she knows how to spend a weekend in the Vex.
[Pleading and suffering from emotional panic] Please don’t. Oh my gosh. I know how to do it! I’ll take her place.
[Frustrated and fighting back] (Stressed) Get your hands off of me! I have teeth and they work!
[Poking fun and joking with a friend] (Teasing) What? No, that wasn’t the point at all *chuckle*. You missed the mark by, like, a whole continent.
Voice type: low-mid, stoic, robotic, formal

Personality: Idelle is the level-headed and logical one in the girl group. She struggles with emotions and the girls have to teach her how to do things in a way that isn’t so strange. She is compared to a robot and is unsure how others navigate things called “feelings.” Her objective personality assists in her business ventures.
(Monotone) Yes. I ,too, would like to hear of the impending doom that is upon us.
(Scheming and excited) If we are lucky, there is a high probability that we can sue.
(Hesitant and slightly nervous) I do not like this. I do not like this even by a minuscule amount.
Voice type: High, shrill, cheerful, excitable

Personality: Rane is a MODel and adores all the luxury the Vex has to offer. She is the life of the party and spends her days thinking of how to become even more famous. She grew up outside the city and pursued her dream of getting to the big leagues. Some may call her stuck up and materialistic, but she wears the terms with pride. She detests the lower classes and refuses to engage with them.
[In a party mood] (Excited) EEEK!!! You’re here! You would have rotted if you stayed in that house any longer.
[Irritated from being hit on] (Loud) You can’t even dress yourself properly! What would you know about showing me a good time?
(Over the top whining. Crying) Wahhhh! I thought you went on vacation without me.
Voice type: Mid, polished, grand

Personality: Lawrence is the founder of MoveWell, Inc. and is respected in the Vex. He has high friends in high places and dedicates himself to maintaining those friendships. He appears cheerful and the charismatic man a CEO should be, but he is strict and cold to his loved ones.
(Stern and holding back anger) There will be no ‘again.’ Now, go. I have things to attend to.
(Pleading and scared) Because I had to! There was no other way, you see.
[Cracking jokes with a friend] (Joking and playful) Ah, why would I ever doubt you? That’s the way we do things around here.
Voice type: Low, gruff, deep

Personality: Malcolm is the CEO of Divi Pro, a company dedicated to the advancement of human technology and body modification. Malcolm is more concerned with prolonging his legacy than providing his family with emotional support. He is easily angered and is feared throughout the Vex. He is a scary individual and disallows any sign of weakness.
(Angry and challenging) And where will you get the guts to go against me? My word is more than law.
(Sad and shameful) M- my darling… It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.
[Grand gesture. Playing as the gracious host.] Welcome! Thank you all for attending this special night.
