Project Overview
Open Lobby is a Halo Machinima web-series. Season Two follows our heroes Zack and Jacob as they work to prevent the imminent shutdown of the seventh console generation servers of the beloved Halo videogame series. And while they attempt to relive Halo in the public eye, an evil rises from the shadows to silence this movement.

ROLE: PRINCIPAL (recurring)
A dark entity with unknown affiliation, but it's motives are clear, to extinguish the rebellion's flames and mark the end of Halo's online servers.
Don't force your voice to go deeper and darker. The character speaks through a modulation filter to appear more sinister and imposing. So just use your natural speaking voice and let the emotions guide how you sound. The character is meant to be bottling up rage. Get down into your lower register. Speak with quiet composure, but as if in any moment you could snap. You are a villain in there story, but you're the tragic hero of your own.
Halo is dead. There’s no saving it. Find something else to do. Stop wasting your time.
Stop living in the past, holding on to those memories, hoping that things will go back to the way they were.
It’s a sickness. It makes you WEAK.
ROLE: PRINCIPAL (recurring)
14 year-old, programing prodigy, modded Halo’s code to encrypt servers on Microsoft’s own network to prepare the rebellion’s movement, uninterrupted.
Don't worry about making your voice sound kiddish. Just use your normal vocal tone. It doesn't matter if you sound like a fully matured adult, I'm just looking for the right emotions to be conveyed in the performance.
Oh well, it’s pretty straightforward actually. I setup a VPN to run on his console. It hides the IP address so Microsoft can’t just ban it from their severs.
We operate on a strict no PvP policy while on this server, but players deaths are very rare. But if players are somehow killed, the respawn area is right over there.
Yeah, but that why I’m here. I want to preserve these games so future generations can come back and experience them for the first time like I did growing up.
ROLE: PRINCIPAL
18 year-old, freshmen in university, befriended Danny over Xbox Live 10 years ago. Overtime, he interacts less and less with Danny due to his social life, drinking and partying with his real friends.
Imagine sitting slouched in a chair or laying on a couch, speaking into a headset. That's what I'm looking for here. A more laid back, flat performance with small bits of emotions.

Dude, what are you talking about? This game isn’t going anywhere. They’re just shutting down the servers. That kinda thing happens with old games. Remember Halo 2? Besides, they added Reach to the MCC like a couple years ago, right?
No, I don’t care. I don’t play this game anymore, Danny. I just got on because you asked and I was hoping we could play some Infection or something before my friends come over.
ROLE: PRINCIPAL
16 year-old, sophomore in high school, befriended Brad over Xbox Live 10 years ago. Feels more comfortable being himself online and doesn’t have many real friends. Seeing Brad as a best friend.

Oh yeah. Forgot you’re in college. Crazy. You’re only two years older than me, but it’s like we’re living in two different worlds.
Do you remember those days, all those years ago? I’d get home from school and run straight to my living room. I’d turn on my Xbox and I’d see you online and we’d party up or I’d wait for you to get on. We would play for hours and wouldn’t stop until our parents told us to shut everything down.
But now it’s not our parents that are turning the game off, the game itself is shutting down. And I’m gonna miss it.
ROLE: MINOR
15 years old, friends of Danny and Brad, amateur filmmaker who constantly boasts about his vision, but is incompetent in almost every way.
No! No! NO! Come on, you guys! It shouldn’t be THIS hard!
You guess? You don’t guess. You are Officer Captain Diego. You should KNOW when it’s time to turn.
